The Running Thread - 2016

Treat QOTD: Mickey rice krispy bar, plain with no chocolate. I hate rice krispies; I hate marshmallow. But put them together in the shape of a mouse head and I'm all over it. Being calorie conscious (defined as not eating too many sweets to save calories for beer), I make one last several days.
 
@LSUlakes Completed my Chicago Half with a new PR of 2:38:55, beating my goal of 2:44:99. It was a great course with no Heat, Humidity or Hills - which is what we have to contend with here in Atlanta. My sister was the rock star getting up at 4 am to take me to the shuttle stop so I wouldn't have to wait for a bus that early in the morning. Took in a Cubs game that night (they won). Even worked the Expo the day before. Overall, a great long weekend in a city that I am beginning to love.

ATTQOTD: I'm a few behind, but I will occasionally purchase race pictures. This race the pictures were free - I did manage to get a few that I liked.

Training question for everyone. I'm coming up on the last long run in my marathon training (14 miles). It coincides with the Bull City Race Fest half marathon and I was thinking about running the race at training pace so I could test out a couple of changes (bib on shorts, increased fluid intake at aid stations) under race conditions prior to marathon day. Good idea? Bad idea?
 
I wish you didn't have to go through that. I guess it is good that progress is working its way towards wearing normal shoes, but I hope the "incredibly painful" turns into only "slightly painful" and then the pain goes away sooner than later. Can I send you some Chicago area beers to help make the pain go away? Let me know and I will! (I mean it)




Can I join your "have to get checked at 40" club! Ummm...Yay??? I also get the pleasure of starting mammograms at 43.
I'm hoping in the next few years the world invents some kind of blood test you can take once a year that just tells you what you have and it only costs $5 and you can eat endless food beforehand.

Welcome to the club! I guess I should recognize my privilege in not having to add mammograms. This is the club no one really wants to join, but we all get to at some point...

No reason not to as long as you can hold yourself back in the race. That can be hard to do.

Cross Training Workouts - 5

My goal was 200 but I missed some runs as has been the case the past two months. Work is crazy, but ultimately it is on me. I did finish today with a really tough trail run that kicked my butt pretty good and because it was 19 miles really helped my totals. Need to do better next month. Dopey is on the way!
