The Running Thread - 2016

Congrats @DOOM1001 on your race and your PR!

For those talking about Garmin watches...if you ever want to feel fast...just accidentally put your settings on kilometers updates instead of miles. I may have done that for my first ever run with it.

Good morning folks! Ended the month with a 10.5 mile run while pushing DD in her stroller. Averaged somewhere north of a 8:30 pace. The day before we ran 3 miles around our neighborhood with a sub 8:00 minute pace. Not to bad with having to push a stroller around.

QOTD: What is your total mileage for January?

ATTQOTD: 110.91 miles. Not the greatest, but with only one run the week after the Disney marathon I'll take it.

Great race overall, near perfect running weather with a great running atmosphere from both runners, spectators and residents. Not a huge race but a good size for the location. As far as my race I finished at 2:10 and change getting a PR by 22 seconds. The most positive thing about that was that that time included a 7-8 minute potty break at mile 9,so my time would probably have been closer to 2:02 or so.Even more positive that potty break included what was probably the nicest bathroom on the course as I came upon what looked like a nice looking neighborhood clubhouse and even though I knew I wanted to keep going as I knew I was on pace to PR I chose to finish the race comfortably and afterwards I felt so much better I ran better than I would have otherwise,so it helped overall. The most insane thing that happened was that I experienced my first ever case of bloody nips (on only one) just a couple of days after that subject was brought up on the boards talking about bodyglide and I said I had never had that happen before,LOL!!!The after party was also pretty good, right after the race we got the usual muffins, fruits, bagels, coke cans, more Cliff bloks(that we also got on the course). Then after we got these items you walked over to a tent where they gave you a card with like 10 different local restaurant logos that you would then take to each individual restaurant tent to get a food sample from each restaurant, some things were better than others, the good, rice and beans with Cuban bread,2 glasses of beer,a mimosa, chips and salsa and some sort of crab soup. The not so good, cold pizza, cold plain garlic rolls and some sort of grits with a bacon jelly. The race also gave out beach towels and paper ponchos with the race logo to keep warm after the race.I would never run the full in this race as I would never want to run the same loop twice but I'll definitely be back for the half.

Congrats on the race and PR!! After party sounds like a good one. Keep up the hard work! So, are you going to buy some body glide if you don't already use it?

Had a good weekend run. 6 miler on a beautiful day here. We had a great warm-up over the weekend, so was out at 6:30 AM in 50 degree weather at the end of January. So awesome!!

Also finally got my first weight workout done this morning!! Planning for weights on M-W here on.
I got my second one in Sunday night. Technically that counts as this week, but I start my running weeks on Monday, so anything done on a Sunday go towards the week before. So in other words, I have two more planned this week. Probably Tuesday and Thursday this week.

January was a really light month for me. Just started getting back into regular schedule in the last week or so. Only 29.5 miles for me.

My running miles were fairly light compared to some of you. 36 total. I'm training for a 5k next weekend and an 8k to follow. My mileage will creep up after that by quite a bit.

My walking mileage...I wish I had kept track of it this month...for it being January I sure walked a ton. Gotta love Disney trips + over-scheduling "get out of the house" activities during this blech month.

QOTD: What is your total mileage for January?

88.01 miles here. A little over half from Marathon Weekend. Recovery from my first marathon coupled with icy conditions here for several days combined to keep the numbers down a bit.

So I don't know how I missed this thread but its great! I have spent the last 3 or 4 days (on and off with work and life) reading it all.
I am going to get all of my stuff together to post my races a little later but just wanted to check in and say how great and helpful it is to read what others are doing! Great job guys!

64 miles! I'm was pleasantly surprised it was that high. It's snowing hard here in northern Colorado so I'm heading to the treadmill this morning.

ATTQOTD: 146 miles. Pretty happy with the total. Been trying to maintain 25-30 a week post Marathon weekend.

Impressive splits with a stroller. Jealous, because it will probably be another few months here until it's warm enough for a stroller.

Total January mileage - 108.2 miles

I am happy with this because it includes taking 2 weeks completely off after Dopey. Just finished with the remainder of my recovery cycle yesterday and the first run in the May marathon training cycle starts today. :D

QOTD: What is your total mileage for January?
Still nursing the broken foot, so no running in January. Was allowed to go back to my workouts last Monday, which includes P90X and Elliptical.

In January I did the equivalent of 7 miles on the elliptical and did P90X every day. Getting stronger already, and no foot pain! February will be more of the same, with my running starting in March.

Hang in there. Glad the foot is pain free so far! P90X is brutal and would imagine its keeping you in good shape. Everyone loves a good comeback!

It's race week for @Keels , @michigandergirl @roxymama @gjramsey @WhereInFlorida and @Disneyland_emily . WhereInFlorida and Disneyland_emily will be at the same race this weekend, a DIS meet up? How are yall feeling about the race this upcoming weekend? Anyone wants to adjust or add a time goal?

My weather forecast has shifted to be 35 degrees high for my race day instead of 27. We may not have to deal with any snow on the ground at all! My race is at 9am Central so any good thoughts people want to throw out into the universe Sat. are appreciated.
I have not run a full race pace race in a few months. Disney was so not my race pace. But my speed workouts weekly have gone well.
I have literally no idea how this one is gonna go. I'm hopeful I can stick to my plan of 9:13 or lower for the full 3.1. I've read there is one big hill but you get to go down it and go up it. I'm gonna will myself not to give into walking up it. Run it to get it over with.

QOTD: What is your total mileage for January?
48.2. I had hoped I would make it to 50 but the weather didn't cooperate. Still, it's the most I've done in a month since I started running so it was exciting.
