The rumors appear to be true...

Think Lord of the Rings, they were also getting their butts kicked in the 3rd movie, and magically saved by the tree people. The movie has a happy ending where everyone says bye and goes their separate ways.

That wasnt the third movie, that was the two towers.

too many words............won't be reading it.

not into soccerey or how ever it is spelled.

just give me the ride. and make it a good one.

damo........you don't know who DR. DOOM is?????

No clue who Dr. Doom is.

The books aren't really about sorcery as much as they are about a little boy whose parents are killed when he is a baby and his adventures and misadventures in growing up. The adventures just happen to include a bunch of magic.

The good thing about the books is that magic is magic is magic and it really doesn't need any explanation. If you tap on a brick wall and it opens, it really isn't confusing anyone whether they've read the books or not.

There can't be magic, Disney has the copyright on that stuff... :wizard: :rotfl:

I've never seen the Mummy movies either
Brendan Fraser just called. He says he's very disappointed in you.
:rotfl:

I'm delighted that the Harry Potter project would seem to be a reality. It seems like it's been SO many years that we've been hearing this rumor. I just question the timing of it all. The final book is being released this July and the sixth and seventh films will probably be released before the new "land" opens. This should have been in the works long ago. I guess this is the way J.K. Rowling wants it to be.

I think Harry Potter is just thing to battle the "nostalga" market that Disney has a strangle hold on.

UO are already my favourite parks...adding Harry Potter, to me, is the ultimate icing on the cake!

Amity3 and Macraven, I urge you not to be closed minded about reading the books. It's not like you have to invest a lot of time or effort to read the first couple (the last few are much longer and more intense), and it would give you a great background for whatever rides, shows and attractions they build. I am sure they will be fabulous, but what's the harm in reading some very popular, funny (at times) and well written stories?

first time i have been accused of being closed minded

i guess being blonde has that image, eh

Mac, if you've got 4 boys, you would quite enjoy Harry Potter and his escapades.

Here's the beginning of the book to start you off:

Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you’d expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn’t hold with such nonsense.

Mr Dursley was the director of a firm called Grunnings, which made drills. He was a big, beefy man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large moustache. Mrs Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbours. The Dursleys had a small son called Dudley and in their opinion there was no finer boy anywhere.

The Dursleys had everything they wanted, but they also had a secret, and their greatest fear was that somebody would discover it. They didn’t think they could bear it if anyone found out about the Potters. Mrs Potter was Mrs Dursley’s sister, but they hadn’t met for several years; in fact, Mrs Dursley pretended she didn’t have a sister, because her sister and her good-for-nothing husband were as unDursleyish as it was possible to be. The Dursleys shuddered to think what the neighbours would say if the Potters arrived in the street. The Dursleys knew that the Potters had a small son, too, but they had never even seen him. This boy was another good reason for keeping the Potters away; they didn’t want Dudley mixing with a child like that.

When Mr and Mrs Dursley woke up on the dull, grey Tuesday our story starts…

that's not going to happen, it had better be explained in the ep queue.

I agree with you, 100%.

BTW, anyone besides me even try to read the first book and just not get through it? To say that I hated it was an understatement, and I am quite the avid reader. I read tons and tons of books. I just honestly didn't see what all the HP hype is about. I found the first movie to be somewhat tolerable, but I fell asleep during it, and haven't bothered to watch the whole thing or any of other 34 HP movies, even though one of them seems to be on at least one of our movie channels all the time. Don't get me wrong. I think HP will breathe some new life into IOA (if that's where they're putting it). I mean, I hated The Mummy movie too, but I love the Mummy ride.

I'm just curious as to who else finds the HP series of books insufferable?

Maybe it helps if you have kids Jodie? They really are children's books, after all.

Hmm, I don't know. I mean I'm always reading something, and my mom and some of my adult neighbors read them, and they like them fine. Perhaps I am the only one, after all.

My sister in law didn't like them either, if that makes you feel any better.:lmao:

hp is not the type of books i would read.
have seen excerpts in local paper and not impressed.

bout the boys, they were more of lord of the rings and playboy and penthouse type of reading.

That's what we need, penthouse landing, as the new island.

I rode the Mummy with him and Arnold whateverhisnameis Vosloo in the grand opening. He forgave me.:cool1:
I remembered that--that's why I said it! I knew you guys had the connection!

Actually, I wish that someone would do a Lord of the Rings land of some kind. :(

But HP should be fine. I haven't read the books but the movies are great IMO. I love all of the fantasy and yes, magic. I don't think that Harry will fade away but will become one of the classic characters that most kids learn to appreciate no matter how old they are. ;)

Well I'd love to see a full scale Minas Tirith, that would be THE most awesome thing ever. But I'm still a believer that there's just too much HUGE stuff in LOTR to ever make a land or even a park out of it...unless those super filthy rich Dubai oil guys do it.
