Thursday 14th August
Cast List
Me: No introduction required, I suspect most of you know me by now!
DW: Long suffering DW of the above
Alex: 15 - Coaster and Disney freak
Laura: 13 - Style queen
Up at about 8.15 this morning and failed to raise the kids once again until got them up about 9.45. I think all that sea air has something to do with it!
We had a nice dithery morning having breakfast in the room/s watching the US Olympic coverage etc. It was slightly bizarre having almost no coverage of the British athletes (or any other country other than the US for that matter). More toast, coffee, juice etc for breakfast today.
We wandered down to the beach late morning to catch a few more rays but we made a mental note to remember to cover up a bit more today.
The sun was a bit less fierce today which was a relief and we decided to hire 4 sun beds and two umbrellas. (Wed given back the other chairs and umbrella as we think they were part of a chair swap and had been left with us in error).
The weather looked very dark a fair way to the right and the guy didnt charge us for the hire of the beds and umbrellas then but said hed come round later for the money if it didnt rain.
Lounging on loungers
View from beach
Storm clouds on horizon
Not a lot to say about the rest of the day really swimming, sunbathing, reading, swimming, sunbathing, reading .etc.etc.
We grabbed some lunch again at Bleachers:
1 x chicken wrap
2 x hot dogs
1 x kids grilled cheese sandwich
$26
We took it all back to beach the food was very good quality again. It was bliss sitting there, eating lunch in the sun could get used to that!
After another hour or so of slothdom it started to rain a bit (just a few spits and spots) and the men came round and packed everything up. We got thrown off the sunbeds (didnt matter too much as theyd not come down for the money anyway!) so we wandered back to the pool for a change.
Laura and I took part in the slide challenge that was about to start, for the fast descent. And for a while we both led our respective competitions Laura at 11.16 seconds and me at 10.28 seconds but we were eventually beaten.
The rain passed after a short while so we headed back to the beach for a last swim using the boogie boards again.
Boards but little boogie going on
Finally waving goodbye to the beach we went back to the rooms, showered, changed, then did the free crazy golf on offer. (Thursday is members day).
Wed passed Applebeess previously so decided to eat there tonight and it was jammed packed when we got there!
Laura was a bit grumpy as once again there was no pizza although the rest of us thought our $9.99 for a 3 course selection was very good value for money.
The service was superb although it took a couple of goes to make ourselves understood by the locals. They asked if we were on vacation or had moved there recently blimey, Im not that rich!
Me: mozzarella sticks, chicken and 3 cheese pasta, strawberry cheesecake, soda
Alison: mozzarella sticks, steak, fries, broccoli, choc mousse, soda
Laura: kids pasta and sauce, side of fries and soda
Alex: onion rings, steak, jacket pot, broccoli, key lime pie, soda
Total cost - $50
Excellent food obviously a real need for more restaurants like this in the area as it was very popular!
After dinner we had a quick trip to Indian River Mall for girls to buy some Hollister stuff then we stopped at Walmart for yet more essential supplies including stuff for lunch for the next day.
Finally back to the room to end the day in the good old way crisps, peanuts, and beer while watching the Olympics.
