Hi everyone,

I'm heading to WDW soon and being British, I'm looking forward to eating at the Rose and Crown. However, I've heard really mixed reviews about it. Can anyone tell me what its like? Are the servers good? What's the best and worst parts and would you recommend it?

The more details the better as I want to make this a really special holiday for my family.

Thanks!

I love the servers because there are a bunch of hot British guys. :lovestruc

Your experience really depends on whether you eat inside or outside. I recommend outside. If you request a patio table by the lake, you can get an awesome spot for Illuminations.

I'm not really sure about the best/worst parts. I guess worst would be that there are usually a bunch of drunks in the "Pub" area (which you have to cross through in order to get to the restrooms). Best would definitely be the British guys and their lovely accents. :cloud9: :rotfl:

Its okay. The food is okay. The service is good. The location is awesome (outside), the beer is cold, and the prices are disney. Compare it to a large company owned pub in London that caters to tourists and you will get the idea.

I thought the curry was pretty good when I had it. Others had fish and chips (meh), and I swear that they used to serve a cottage pie/shepherds pie that was good.

Rose and crown is not terrible. Its not great. Its okay and a fine spot to choose. You just need to do much of your dining at disney with the knowledge that the ambiance is really what you are paying for.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I appreciate it.

Has anyone got any trip reports specifically for the Rose and Crown? I had a look but there are ALOT of trip reports and I couldn't find anything specific.

My DH is a Brit and we go to the Rose & Crown each year because it's his favorite. I think one of his favorite things is that it's usually full of other Brits so he feels like he's home. ;)

I love the cheese plate as a starter although they've switched the plain Stilton over to a Stilton pastry which is good but I'd rather have just the cheese. DH always gets the shepherd's pie or the vegetable curry and then tries to steal the bangers & mash that I order each visit.

We really enjoy it--I hope you enjoy it, as well! Have a great trip!

Might have to check it out for the hot British guys and their lovely accents:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Hubby would love the beer and food....I'd like the ambiance;)

We have been to the Rose & Crown several times and enjoyed it. We have eaten both on the patio with a view of Illuminations (awesome) as well as inside.
We have found the service to be outstanding. The young folks on the exchange program are very warm and friendly and we enjoy talking with them.
We have not been to the restaurant for a few visits. I feel the menu has been weaken and I am disappointed in their current offerings.
Have you looked at all the menus here on the DIS as well as allearsnet.com? This will help you as you plan your trip.
We also enjoy stopping in the pub on each visit. We are not one of the "drunks" referred to above, but we do enjoy a nice beer and the ambience is wonderful.
Have a Great Trip.

I am curious if they still offer the scotch flights there? I am thinking I might need to rearrannge my ADRs this trip to make room.

We eat there often as the beer is good. The food is well..... Americanized Englsh so read in to that what you will. If you are looking for the same experience as your local pub in the UK it isn't too far off but it will of course not be the same.

Being a Brit and posing your question to mostly Americans might be a dangerous prospect! I am not British (okay, well I do have some Brit blood in me thanks to my ancestors) but I do love the Rose & Crown. The menu is not huge, and I think the fish & chips, potato leek soup and some of the other items are just fine. Oh, yeah, the pints are bloody good. What I really love about this place is the atmosphere. I think it is quaint and cool all at the same time. My family has always had excellent and friendly service. We have eaten at the R&C 3x, and will be back for our 4th later this month.

1) I think you will be satisfied.
. . . think Rose & Crown in Saturn (London)
. . . think Rose $ Crown on Royal Mile (Edinburgh)
2) If those are good for you, then R&C at Epcot will be fine.

We had a great meal there this past October. We were originally sat outside on the patio and then told we were at the wrong table. We were relieved..it was cold and the tables were too close together. We were sat inside at a table for 2 by the fireplace. Allison was our waitress and she was awesome! :cool1: We had a great time talking to her and kidding around. Her and hubby had a fight going with the bartender about what a Snakebite is made out of! Hubby and Allison won! :lmao: Food was great, hubby had the cheese plate and the fish and chips and he said they are some of the best he's ever had and he loves everything English and eats alot of f&c! I had the potato leek soup and the chicken and they were great as well. Hubby of course loves the beers..:drinking1

We ate there last trip, spur of the moment. We were seated outside by the water. It was great. If we had eaten a little bit slower we would have been able to stay for Illuminations. Food was great.:thumbsup2

What is a good time for a reservation if you are hoping to watch Illuminations? DH and I are going in May - ALONE :cool1: - for the first time!

enjoyed this thread so far as I'm planning an ADR there for this summer's trip :cheer2: .

Not eaten there before, as eating british food while abroad seemed a bit silly when we could try so many others around World Showcase!

But this trip will be with DBF's family, and on our last vacation together to the caribbean, they were all craving 'home' food by the end of the trip... so I think a meal at the pub will be a good idea!

One thing I judge by is how many Brits are always eating there! We always talk to several groups and all seem happy to have found a bit of home. Last trip(last week) alovely retired woman who lived many years in GB was there and said she lives in Orlando now and eats at R&C almost weekly. I love it, although the menu is getting a little sparse. And always good to have a Guinness with lunch.

Here's a tip if you don't want to eat a heavy meal or pay for service-the food at the takeout is the same as inside. Cheaper and not as much food. My hubby and I did this for lunch last May and enjoyed sitting outside.
We did the fish and chips and ale and loved it.pirate:
