The Roots vs Misty

Hello all. I know this may be a contentious issue, as everyone has their own opinions on photography, but having looked through a lot of the photographers available, I've got it down to The Roots and Misty Miotto. As photography is very important to us, I just wondered if anyone had opinions either way. I know there is obviously a price difference, so I wondered if the Roots were worth the extra? Any opinions/thoughts/advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!! xx

Personally, we chose the Roots and it's one of the best decisions we have made through this whole process. They just did our engagement pictures and I love them. Here's a link if you want to look at them.

Misty is really good too - look at Toni's (DisneyBrideToni) pictures - they're also gorgeous.

A bride for Misty! It is personal- I think both do amazing work but we really liked misty's persoanlity on the phone, her work (obviously), and we were able to not break the bank either.

So many people (non DISers) have seen my pics and have said they are the nicest wedding pics and I have even given them Misty's name for them to contact about family sessions etc.

Honestly- either way you will get amazing photos, but Misty and I clicked right away and she was more affordable.

Which style fits you better? We had the Roots and I positively adore their style of shooting and editing. I know there is a price difference but in the end all you will have is your pics. It all comes down to who you like better. IMO the Roots are totally worth it. If we ever have a vow renewal, I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

If everything all works to plan I'll be booking Misty. I've spent ages looking through the online galleries for a few different photographers, and I keep coming back to Misty.

I'm using Misty!
She was very comfortable to talk to and is willing to get the shots we want. Her price is great! And no, you aren't breaking the bank. I'm having an Escape wedding for Roots to photograph our wedding it would cost just as much as the wedding to have them. I love their photography...but the price was too much and quickly dropped them out of the running...

I'm not getting married anytime soon, but like to lurk on this board. For what its worth, I would pick the Roots. When I do eventually get married whether its at Disney or not, I hope to have them, especially as I live in FL and they have done shoots near my area before.

I had Misty and loved her. I know Misty and the Roots have different styles. I think you have to look at what style you would want better.

Aside from the pictures, I just loved Misty's personality. Not only was she a fantastic photographer but she touched up my make up for me and fixed my bustle.

I totally agree with everyone else that you just need to look through as many TR's as possible and read each photographers blog all the way back to the beginning. Misty and the Roots have such different styles (in my opinion) I think the decision is just which style do you like best.

Which do you like better? Both take great pictures, but their styles are so different. We just had the Roots do an engagement shoot for us and I loved them. They were so laid back and nice and we just felt so comfortable with them. If we do have a Disney wedding I would definitely book them and considering it even if we don't have a Disney wedding. I think you just need to look at pictures from both and really think about which you like better, after the weddings over, the pictures are what you have, so if you are set on having the Roots I think it would be worth it to spend the extra.

It's all about which style you like more. While I think they both take great pictures. I love Roots style. I wish I could have them do the pictures for my wedding.

Hmmm I am leaning towards the Roots, they are very pricey, but I have seen the portfolios of other photographers and their style is what I like best.
I art direct by trade and deal with photographers and professional filming crews all the time, plus I am also a professional graphic designer, so when I pay for my photos I am more nitpicky than most.

Still Misty and some of the Disney photographers are nothing to sniff at, some of those MK photo shoots are beautiful and Misty seems to have a slightly more traditional approach to shooting than the Roots, so her product is wonderful on her own way.

We signed our contract last June. I believe they stopped letting you have outside photogs Oct. 1. I just don't get why Disney doesn't charge an outside vendor fee so you can get the style you want.

I saw Carrie's pics (lurkyloo) and fell in love with the Roots' style. I actually called the Roots before I even called Disney to see what dates they had open and went from there. We were truly blessed to be able to go around WS with them.

I just got my cd this week and need to upload my pics to photobucket. Thanks!
