:cool1: Thanks RD. Do you happen to remember what floor you were on?

We were in Room 6129...the last room facing the lake before the hallway turns left into the far wing on the south side. Great location...not very far from the main elevators, and not very far from a nice corner view of the lobby below. However, the balcony had the thicker slats as railings, so you only got the great view when you stood up (which was fine with us).

Looking out from our balcony, you could see, from left to right: downtown, then Universal/I-Drive area, Seaworld area, Downtown Disney area, and Epcot. It was a gorgeous view in the morning when the sun came up.

Our room in August was directly below yours, six floors down (#4106). We didn't see the stuff in the distance as well as you could, but it WAS beautiful at sunrise (and just generally).

The other nice feature was being able to look directly across at the monorail (same floor) and directly down on Chef Mickey's just one floor below:

letterdavidman says : someone has shown me that staying at WL, view-wise, is an absolute crap shoot. IMO, your view (especially having paid for it) is unacceptable. From what I've read (from many, many posts here on the DIS), it is just too possible to get a comparable view at this resort (having paid for a more preferable one) to make it worth my while to even contemplate staying here.
I agree....BillSears room did appear to be a standard ? ANYTHING overlooking a parking lot, imho, should be standard.
I do not have a picture (I shot it on my camcorder though) of the Preferred view room I had at the BWV. It was 85% view of the valet parking lot & a service area driveway. I did have a smaller view of a canal beneath me and TOT off in the distance to the right (if I stood out on the balcony), but the primary view was the valet parking lot. I just don't see how parking lot views can be considered "preferred" ?
Pocahantas' view in post #76----now THAT's a preferred view at BWV ! That could almost be called a "boardwalk" view. My preferred view at BWV was nothing even close to that posters.

Yes, I wish Disney would ask us, the paying public, which rooms are standard or otherwise. Hey...how about they put a questionaire in each room asking just that? Can you imagine...three different folks would stay in the same room and give three different answers! :rotfl:

Seriously, anybody out there from Disney listening? :listen:

PrincessJasmine...
Love your pics...that baby giraffe is just adorable. You really are "up close and personal" with this room view and the animals :cool1:

This is considered a "woods view" at WL. I needed a roll in shower and was given room 6098, a woods view. But sitting out on the balcony I had a view of the parking lot, some green roofs, some cement? roofs and the bus stops. Off beyond all of these were trees but no trees were really close.

Personally I was disapointed in the view. I would have been ok with this as a standard view but don't feel like I got my monies worth as a woods view.

We stayed in almost the exact same room in December. We had booked standard view and was "upgraded" to woods view. We really wanted to be in the lobby, so we were thrilled to get a room in the lobby with this view and not the loading area, but I would have been mad to get that room had I paid for a woods view.
