What is the role of a DVC guide? Do they still follow up with you or provide a service to you after the sale is completed? I see their purpose in touring and the sales presentation/Q&A during the sales process.

Is having a guide of value?

If you purchase resale, does a guide get assigned to you?

A guide is a salesperson; you would not need to work with them unless you wish to purchase additional points direct from Disney. For reservations, you'd call Member Services, for financial questions/issues, you'd call Member Accounting. For problems with your membership, call Member Satisfaction.

One will be assigned to you whether you purchase direct or resale. They generally don't contact you unless you contact them. I haven't talked to mine since the day I bought, 12 years ago.

What is the role of a DVC guide?
Timeshare salesperson, and you need to keep that perspective.

Their purpose is to sell you a Disney timeshare. Their obligation is to present their product in the best possible light and to overcome any objections you might have. Although DVC timeshare sales personnel generally conduct themselves ethically, they are under no obligation to tell you the downsides of timeshare ownership.

If you purchase resale, does a guide get assigned to you?
Yes, although you may not know it. You may only find out when you call for some information and get referred to a guide.

I agree with the previous posters, the role of a DVC guide is to sell you more points. Period.

We actually like our guide and have called him with questions about buying direct points and the waitlist at BCV (to add to our resale contract) and he showed us around VGF models. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another resale contract.
