Any intelligent sales person will stay in touch with, be supportive of and essentially "be there" for their customers, without (and here's the key) not seeming "pushy." What I've heard is that many of the DVC sales persons get the initial sale and then disappear. Sure, they will take your call or get back to you, if you're looking to add-on, but there's little effort to stay in touch otherwise.
Your experience may vary, but our opinion is that our guide holds a grudge that we bought via TTS and she didn't receive a commission. It's a shame that she has acted so unprofessional, since we'd now be very reluctant to deal with her - it's either resale or ask for another guide (any recommendations?)
Selling memberships is a business, a big business. The DVD sales people aka Guides, are in the business of selling. They have sales quotas and their pay is based upon how many sales they make.
Most Guides will take the shortest path to a sale. They don't want to take the time to be your long term "friend" when they can be spending their time making additional sales and money for their family. If the majority of the sales are to new prospects, which they are, they will focus their attention there.
Selling to existing Members is a mixed bag. The sales are easier but there are fewer of them.
She calls us before every trip to see if we need anything (reservations, dining, etc.). I usually have an hour long conversation with her about all the new things going on around property. When we got add-on-itis, she helped push us through the BCV waiting list pretty quickly.
We love our guide too. He's always been great. No pressure during our initial tour - easy transaction when we bought in. He wasn't available when we "dropped in" during the last day of our last visit but he arranged for someone else to show us the AKV models and called us when we got home. We purchased an add-on at that point and all of the tranactions were great. We actually had to wait a couple of months for our financing to come through and he was very patient.
He sometime calls just before our trip or when we arrive there is a message from him, but other than that we don't usually hear from him. We like that he is available if we are interested in purchasing but isn't pushy otherwise.
