Glad you're okay. Haven't heard about it yet here on the east coast. When did it happen and where was it centered? I have family out there.

LOS ANGELES - A strong earthquake south of the U.S.-Mexico border Sunday swayed high-rises in downtown Los Angeles and San Diego and was felt across Southern California and Arizona, knocking out power and breaking pipes in some areas but causing no major damage.

The 7.2-magnitude quake struck at 3:40 p.m. in Baja California in Mexico, about 19 miles southeast of Mexicali, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was initially reported as a magnitude-6.9 quake. The updated magnitude was still an estimate, according to USGS seismologist Lucy Jones.

The area was hit by magnitude-3.0 quakes all week.

Oh, no. Family's in San Diego. Trying to get more info now. Thanks for the info.

Glad to hear all is well. The closest we come to a rolling earthquake is Taco Tuesdays at Rosa's. Our disasters of choice are flash floods and the odd tornado. Stay safe bro. Hope you had an awesome Easter.

if you haven't heard we had a "little" earthquake out here. 7.2 which is huge, but centered over 100 miles from here. It was still strong enough to be felt out there and it lasted for 30 seconds. It was a rolling one.....

No damage here. Everyone's fine.

I'll be back tomorrow for my usual Monday all day on the DIS day.

Glad you guys are all okay. DH and I just read about the quake online! :scared1:

I am no earthquake expert ( and I don't play one on TV) but usually there are aftershocks. Might be an interesting night!!!
Jordy, I remember back when there was a tornado we were kidding you about not having an emergency kit. You have one now right? Please tell me you do.

Stay safe. I worked all weekend :-( but I am off Monday :-) Gotta get caught up here at home but I will be around.

They said it was felt here in Vegas. I didn't feel a thing. I was on my way home from work at that time.

Now the quake in the Mojave desert in 1999, "Hector mine". That, I felt!!!!
First I heard it, then my bed took a BIG dip. It was a roller like this one was.

There were aftershocks felt in Northern Cal tied to the baja quake. I didn't personally feel it but Wendy and others did here in SoCal. We were at my cousin's (on my side and not Wendy's so not related to Jordan) daughter's first b-day party. People came streaming into the building talking about the quake and I pulled out my handy dandy iPhone which gave instant details. :thumbsup2

So far, the most I've seen is video of swinging chandeliers and pools with waves going back and forth, swishing out of pools. The quake was felt in Phoenix as well.

Here's some news from the glorious Los Angeles Times, my former employer. Unfortunately, there was one death in Mexico, tied to the event.:sad1: Here's another LA Times article on aftershocks.

Our church just did a short term mission in Tijuana (a border Mexican town) so I'm praying that they're already home safe but I'm sure there must be other churches/missionaries in the area. Hoping everyone is safe :littleangel:

Praise God! I came on to find out if you were OK. I'm glad your fine and that no one was hurt. I'm still waiting anxiously to see your new glasses. :goodvibes

Thanks Rosie, (and Seanaci, Camille, Carrie and Wendy as well) for weighing in on my glass frame selection! I'm still weighing my decision (as well as a sixth option to go back and see what my optometrist friend, Dr. Kent, has available. I think I found a pair of new frames that I liked for $150 (excluding the updated lens)....but alas, new glasses or maybe saving up for a new iPad (Wendy saw it today at our local MacMall and may even be getting on board with the idea).:cool1:

I was going for the budget !! Let's see apix of the $150 ones at least they are mid range !!!!

This is hilarious! I can just imagine the faces of those around you thinking "who are they yelling at?" Ha ha ha. :lmao: Yeah, sometimes I feel that way too when I see Ashlyn wander around the house and I think "maybe I should go see what she's up to..." after a while...

I think it actually was me consoling Dylan... anyway, enough of this telephone game... moving on. Ha. :rotfl:

That is crazy! I should do that...

Tammie... did you fall into the ocean off the dock on that cruise? I remember someone doing that but can't remember. :confused3

:rotfl2:No that was Christy! That is something I might possibly do, but not that time! She attributed it to too much rum punch on the catamaran!:lmao:

Glad to hear you're all okay down there. I wasn't watching the news today, so just read about it here.

Ahhhhh, that's right... now that name rings a bell... hee hee hee. Yup - it was pretty funny... I think she just walked right off as if the dock continued. I remember doing that once in college but it was because the lights were turned off in the jacuzzi part of the pool (it was at night) so I didn't realize there was water there (thought it was still the patio area) and I just walked right into the pool. Hee hee. :rotfl:

I saw that video on the news. That was some wave pool  normally I like them but under those circumstances not so much.

The whole Earthquake thing is crazy! Seems like there have been alot lately! Glad everyone is OK though.

On a side note, Easter here went as usual! Mega family fighting! The day at Busch Gardens was awesome but the aftermath was HORRIBLE! Weather was about 73 and breezy, it was a beautiful day!

Again, I am glad that everyone is alright. I don't think I could live with earthquakes. I'm fine with Hurricanes but Earthquakes are too unpredictable for me!
