Carissa, I don't think its safe to say "getting behind" on this thread!! ;)

(Although I'm getting there, too!)

Sheesh! Its so hard to keep up around here!

(Whoops. Better not say that either... not around this crowd!)

Kathy

You're getting to know us pretty well, eh, Kathy?! :lmao:

:rotfl: I know! I thought about that after I posted. :rolleyes1

When I was at the conference, I read these posts and just laughed.

Hope your weekend is going great so far, Jordan! :thumbsup2

It was a fantastic weekend.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

we might have to come up with a crib sheet of things NOT to say....

Yes we know that "UP" is a for of Altitude and we know what Jordan says that causes !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: And when he has been "UP" do not get "BEHIND "him!!!!:lmao::lmao:

Do I dare ask what sort of DEPOSIT!!!!!:scared1::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I am heartily ashamed to say I thought the very same thing... :rolleyes1

Kathy

Unfortunately I think it means exactly what you're afraid it means.

Well there you go. I stopped by the bank myslef and decided to do a little DisBoarding. Hope the conference goes well. I can only imagine the stories being told.

Bank...oh yeah....thats what I talking about..;)

The restroom was the only time I had time to myself....

jordan - just had to share this with you. i got up this morning and checked facebook and my friend anna (not the one you know but another one), who is asian and married to a white guy, posted a picture of their 7mo son, alex, in his walker looking behind him. she put this caption with the picture:

Seven months old and he knows how to back up his Jeep... Looks like the infamous "Asian driver" gene is recessive. Hooray!

:rotfl2:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Come to my city. An accident almost every day on the main streets in the area.....:rolleyes1

Nighty-Night, Jordan! :cloud9: Pleasant dreams!

Jack Spence's blog contained a WDW restroom Quiz this week... I think you would enjoy it! See how many restroom signs you can name!

http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/2010/03/detailed_quiz_1.html

Kathy

I must admit I knew very few of the signs:eek:

I slept until 11am:thumbsup2

Just thinking about lunch right now.

Welcome back.

Can't wait to hear stories and see pictures. :thumbsup2

There's one Good story with accompanying pictures....

Great updates Jordan! Don't you hate it when you get perky in cold weather? Just ruins your day. I've never seen that bathroom in Epcot. Will have to scope it out next time I'm there.

Just a couple more pix that we had of Jeff (Jordan's bro) and Ashlyn...

Oh, those are all so sweet! I SO miss that age (uh, but not enough to do it again! ;))

Chapter 13. If it ain't broke...oh wait....

So as many of you know, I accompanied the college and Young Adults to a church retreat. We are part of the Pacific Coast Japanese Free Methodist Conference. We were largely Japanese-American back in the day, but we are definitely more multi-cultural now. The conference was for all the churches within the PCJC conference.

It was a great weekend. However, it didn't start off so great. I had to wait for a few college student to finish classes before heading to Ventura (100 miles). We ended up leaving Orange County at 3:45pm--ON A FRIDAY. We had to drive through LA to get to Ventura...needless to say we hit traffic...

It basically took us 2.75 hours to get there when it should take about 1.75 hours. It took us 1 hour to get through the 10 miles through LA:scared1:

We checked in and met up with some more folks from our church for dinner:

The weekend was great. Lots of great teaching. Lots of time in prayer. Lots of crying. Lots of the Holy Spirit moving. It was awesome. Just a couple of stories for you:

Story number 1:
So we were warned by the hotel not to go out at night alone..:scared1: They also said that there were racists around. You know, well you would think in this day and age, especially in Southern California, that they might've been exaggerating...WRONG.:scared1::scared1: On the way to Starbucks, a couple was stopped by someone and asked if they were around Ventura, they said no, they were from Orange County. The man just shook his head and walked away...Huh?:confused3 Then another man, homeless, came up to my cousin (I have alot of them) and said "Go back to the Orient!!!" Homeless and racist....OY! It was definitely a bit of a shock that we were experiencing it. It's been almost 13 years since I've had a racial incident happen. It made me sad. When I lived in Fresno, California--a farming community, I was almost run off the road. I also had high school students yelling racial epitaphs at me as they were getting out of school...Fun times.

Story number 2:
We had some AWESOME times of prayer. Some people prayed for me for a few hours on Saturday afternoon! Crazy stuff, but awesome. I'll share my story sometime...Anyways...on the last morning, we were praying for one of our college guys who is going to Japan this summer on a mission (less than 1% of Japan is christian making it the most unreached industrial country). Anyways, as we were praying, I started to cry. I took off my glasses. We finished praying. I turned around to pick up my glasses, but didn't see them anywhere. :confused3 The the woman who was sitting behind me pulled something from behind her back. She had sat on them...OOPS.

Yes, that's right broken glasses:

Fortunately for me, I carry Krazy Glue with me because the arm of my glasses has broken before.:thumbsup2 So I was able to do a quick fix:

Picture of another cousin and I. She, Wendy and I are around the same age.

Here's a picture of the whole group from our church. There were 120 people total at the retreat. Pic was taken post glasses incident and before repair!

Again, a great weekend.Okay, back to the TR......

It's a great restroom! Around the corner of the Imagination Pavilion.:thumbsup2 If that's the one you're talking about.

Wow, three new updates! Woohoo! :woohoo:

Your pic of LA traffic had me home-sick, NOT! I am always amazed that even at 2am there are tons of cars on the freeway (moving quickly at that time, but still tons!). I feel your pain for the 3:45 departure on a Friday. :sad2:

I hate that type of encounter with some clueless individual. I have been taunted on a few occasions for my weight. I always think of something good to say later. So far we have been "lucky" and not had any rude comments about our family. We certainly stand out in a crowd but I always try to be the first one to say something when someone is staring. "Isn't her wheelchair cool?" or "don't you wish you had that tan?". People usually start up a conversation and end up being pretty nice. Like they didn't even realize they were staring and just had some ignorant curiosity that needed to be indulged. Some are annoyed/offended and walk away, but they are the minority. I don't know what I'd do if someone yelled rude things at my children but it probably wouldn't be pretty. :maleficen

:scared1::scared1: re some of the people, but I'm glad it went well.

If someone said something to your kids and I was around...I'd probably get to them first...;)

Ugh on rush hour LA traffic.

:sad1: for broken glasses

:scared1: that you actually had racist comments and attitudes. I'd like to say it shocks me but sadly:scared1:, it doesn't,. I am amazed at times at what comes out of people's mouths.

It sounds like a very moving weekend.

You get to experience LA freeways soon enough...:headache:

It was actually kind of funny. She's gonna buy me a new pair:thumbsup2

I guess I'm not surprised, but as a person of color, it's a painful reminder of what's happened in the past.

It was a great weekend.

The fact that you had to deal with racism... :sad2: :sad1:   :headache:

The fact that you were able to fix your crazy broken glasses... :thumbsup2 :cool1: :3dglasses :woohoo: :cool2:
