Okay I think everyone was wondering if Jordan enjuoyed this soup

100_0216-1.jpg

Yes he did and he also let me try it !!! :lmao:

Jordan that was an Inspirational article about your father !!! What amazes me is the lack of bitterness !!That was a wrong decision the government made , but I suppose at the time it didn't seem wrong !! It is amazing how History has 20/20 vision while the past doesn't !!!!

I'm gald you liked my Peepfest Meets ideas !! We definately have tohave some FUNNY ones !! Now as for the Fockers , we are already intergrated .. I am an original Focker as in on the THREAD that was banned:scared1::rotfl2:I just thought of another ... The Chinese Laundry !!!!!!:rotfl2:

Love the taxi cab pic :lmao:

That tomato soup looks so good! Tomato is my favorite kind of soup so I will have to go there at some point!

Sorry about your SIL  every family has a downer

Congrats to your dad!

The cab ride was thankfully uneventful.

The soup was flavorful, had great texture and was hearty.....sooo good.

I wish I liked her more. It's just depressing to be around her. I think she wants it that way.

Great update, Jordan. Don't feel bad about not bringing gifts. It a woman thing. I bet Winkers and Blue's husbands wouldn't have done that on their own. It sure looks like ya'll had fun. My favorite soup is the potato soup at Johnny Carinos. I know you didn't drop your pants and show your cronies. :rotfl2: We have a negative person in our family too Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it gets so annoying.

I wanted to tell you that my dad and I are going to California. Most likely in September. Faron won two plane tickets anywhere in the contintinal USA. Well we can't plan a trip now so we gave the tickets to my daddy. He said he wants to go to California. My mom never goes anywhere so he asked me to go with him. I said yes, so I will be planning the trip because we have until the end of March to book the flights. We will go in September for my birthday. God willing. He wants to go to Disneyland and I want to see the big red wood trees. You will have to tell me what is a must do over there. I also would like it if we could meet up with you, too bad "Aunt Betty" can't come.

I don't mind negativity as long as it's not always directed at the way you live your life...she even took the time to belittle people who go to ANY theme park.

I can't wait to meet you!

Just let me know the details and I can help with logistics of where to go...

GUESS WHAT
I just talked to my mom and she said Aunt Betty found out about our trip and she wants to go. She said she doesn't care if it takes her last penny if we are going to California she is coming too .
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Great update! Being a soup person myself..I was appreciative of all the soup pics.. :lmao: It all looked good to me! As for the chonies..I have to say the "naughty" ones since you were with the group! I love how Rosie always slips the tongue into one picture. :rotfl2:

I think I'm gonna have lentil soup for lunch today. I'll add some croutons and shredded parm to it and maybe some cracked pepper.mmmmm....

Rosie was just practicing for her hot italian.

What a touching story about your dad. He's an amazing man to conquer adversity the way he did with such a positive mental attitude. :goodvibes Thank you for sharing that story.

While there were many who were bitter about the internment, the majority of the people just accepted it.

You aren't alone. I'm a jean wearer to church, too!

We are a very casual church too. However, I'm supposed to dress a bit nicer since I'm on staff. I no longer can wear shorts to church or flip flops.:sad2:

Okay, so what chonies did you wear? Hmmm. My gut is telling me to go with the NAUGHTY ones. So, that's my guess. You wore the NAUGHTY CHONIES!

I have never tried tomato soup.. not once in my entire 22 years of living. I'm not a huge tomato person. Although, I love me some ketchup. Now I'm craving tomato soup like you wouldn't believe. One look at that picture and my mouth is watering all over again. THANKS!!!

I'm glad yall had a good time at dinner... and that the cab got you there smoothly! :goodvibes

I'll let you know if you're gut is right sometime today.:thumbsup2

Here's the thing. It's not like tomatoey soup...more like tomato/peppery/spice-filled....soooo good.

We laughed a Lot!

Great update Jordan. I didn't realize that you were such a soup lover. You must have been in heaven at Boma?

Even though I've seen it before, I'm still cracking up at that group picture at the Wave and that Rosie's sticking her tongue out. :rotfl2:

Regarding chonies....I'm going with the green, and of course you dropped trou.

Boma review coming up...or.....did I make it to Boma?

I can't believe she's the only one too.

chonie live pix coming up...

Here in Boston nothing beats Whole Foods Corn Chowder!!

If loving soup is wrong, I don't want to be right!

Though nothing will ever beat the soup quote from Dr. Snip Snip (my special pet name for the Urologist who performed the surgery) immediately after my vasectomy in 2005:

"Well Jay I am happy to say that you have officially gone from a chowder to a broth!"

I LOVE a good corn chowder, but the cream/milk is sometimes too much for me.

Jay...that story is too....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

but thanks..I'll never look at soup the same way;)

:headache:GRRRRRR what is it with SILs?:headache: I guess there is one in most families. Although I will admit sometimes it is tough to be the better person, especially when it comes to family matters!:rolleyes1

Love the soup pics it looks so yummy:thumbsup2

As for "chonies" (such a funny word to type:)) I will guess the blue plaid cause it would match the decor of the wave so well :rotfl2:

I think she probably justifies her stance on Christians based partly on my attitude or avoidance of her which hurts more.

I love soup...maybe instead of popping open a can. I'll go to a restaurant to eat...hmmm....

perhaps.......

Jordan:

I can't believe it! I'm reading the story about your Dad and I read Wilmore, Kentucky and Asbury College and I said "shut up" out loud! I didn't actually attend Asbury, but I know a lot of people who did or are! I can't believe it! It's such a small college and in the middle of nowhere.

I'm still here enjoying your trip report. Keep the updates coming! :worship:

I'll have to ask my dad why he chose that college. I know that during the war they could leave the camps to go to school, but it had to be East of a particular region...

Glad you're still around:hug:

jordan i really wish you would have posted a picture of the soup i heard it was good and wanted to see what it looked like.

:sad2:

056.jpg

Just for you Dan...;)

Yum, I love soup too. When I lived in Atlanta after college, there was a great little soup and salad place called "Lettuce Souprise You" -- cute name huh!

I know of the restaurant because of my employment with Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes. We knew our competition.

Great update!

I'm going to guess the white/black plaid chonies. And I'm going to say that since this is a family friendly forum, no, you didn't drop trow to show them. I'm going to say you simply pulled up the top of your chonies to get the photo. Either that or you did random jump in the air and your pants slide just enough to show the chonies. :D

And that a sad, yet very heart warming article about your dad. Congratulations to him for being selected to get an honorary degree!

Seanaci.....you are very wise...that's all I am gonna say about the way I took my pic....

My dad feels honored that's what counts. I'm happy for him.

Glad to hear that the taxi ride was an uneventful one. The picture of you in the cab was priceless.

Ummm, if that soup tasted as good as it looked, then I don't blame you for posting a picture of the soup multiple times. I love the picture of all you guys. You look like you are having so much fun together.

Thanks for posting the link to the article about your Dad. What an interesting story.

I think there's a troubling makin' sister-in-law in every family. I have one myself who I think lives for drama. Good for you standing up for what you believe.

Our church is a pretty contemporary church and it doesn't matter what you wear. In the Summer, you'll see people in shorts (not short-shorts but dress shorts), jeans, dresses and suits. It's one of the things that I love about the church. It's truly come as you are and we accept you. Now, my father-in-law's church (he's the pastor).....not so much.

It was our first night all together. Our trip was the perfect blend of alone time and time together. I wish we could've gotten together with Blue one more time...

I used to have a GREAT SIL, but she passed away in 07.:sad2:

We have 2 services. The early service is definitely more formal. There are people that wear ties....second service is mostly jeans...I miss wearing shorts to church...so comfortable.

lilpapsgirl said:
I can totally agree with you. Why must they be so difficult. Mine came in the form of her running off with 15,000.00 dollars, having to make a midnight trip to change door locks and moving all furniture an hour and half away, just to have her say, "oh, i'm sorry"...:headache:how lame.. then we had to take everything back and change the locks again...how annoying and what a waste of about 4 good weekends!!

Now THAT's drama.

What a great outlook on life. Amazing. You were blessed to be born into such a family, Jordan.

Now, to the chonies question - Hmmm, dinner at the Wave... I'm going to go with the blue chonies.

my dad and I have a very strained relationship--typical of preacher's kids though.

which blue chonies......

I'm relieved to hear it was an uneventful ride. That soup DOES look good.

I'm going to go with the green and uh....you didn't drop trou but went for the "younger" look of pants almost falling off (belt removal, perhaps a loosened button or something) so you could see the chonies and snap a pic.

So sorry to hear about your SIL. I have an exSIL like that and I just don't miss it, at all. I may have to deal with it this summer and the very thought ties me up in knots.

Your father is an amazing story and very inspirational. What a beautiful attitude, full of forgiveness and silver linings. A dear friend of mine's parents were also in camps and like you, they never really talked about it either, it was just recently she started hearing more about it as well.

Oh and btw....at least 50% of our congregation wears jeans.

Cynthia, you would've laughed as Winkers and I were trying to figure out where and how to take the picture.

My SIL's attitude just sucks the life out of me. It's actually sad.:sad2: I would like to go visit them in Conn, but really do I want to spend time with her?

I think because most people who were in camps that were not, say 12 years or younger, realize that history can't be lost so they are speaking up...:thumbsup2

I am supposed to wear khakis or slacks...I'm a rebel.

Chapter 9. Chonies LIVE!

okay as a review...it's time to make your guess......which chonies did I wear on this day:
017.jpg

Answer is coming up shortly.

When we last left off, we (Winkers, DJay and I) were headed back to Pop to rest up before our DisMeet dinner. If you recall:
053.jpg

Saturday, February 6th, 2010.

So we left Epcot and were back at the resort around 4:00pm. I think we decided to take a cab to dinner at The Wave--brave choice I know, but it gave us a chance to relax before dinner. Dinner was scheduled at 5:35pm so we figured we'd meet up at 5:15pm. I tried to nap, but turned on the tube and plopped down on the germ infested comforter. I had to turn to the weather channel because I was very interested in the temps/weather for my Typhoon Lagoon day. As long as the temp was over 70 and it was only scheduled to be showery, then I would probably head over. Phew, the forecast for Tuesday was still at about 72 and showers in the afternoon. Typhoon Lagoon is a go!

I actually think I fell asleep for 15 minutes, but was woken up by BlueyedGirl at around 5pm saying they were already heading over to the Wave. I said we'd catch a cab and be over shortly. I got up and changed and then called winkers and we met in the lobby. We went out to catch a cab, but had to wait til one came. It was chilly outside so we went back in to wait:
054.jpg

Now if you're reading Winker's TR, then you know she has bad luck with cabs. We had an unfortunate and long ride to Kona Cafe that morning. If you want to read about that ride click the link:

Click here for Winker's cab story!

So as soon as we got in the van/cab, I found myself a bit nervous about what may happen during THIS cab ride..
055.jpg

As soon as we got in the cab and were on our way, Blue texts me and says that they are already seated. I texted back and said we were in transit and would be there as soon as possible. Fortunately, this cab ride went off without a hitch and we were at the CR in no time at all..:thumbsup2

The Wave is on the first floor of the CR and has a cool looking entrance that I don't have a picture of..:headache::rolleyes1 We met up with Blue and family and Rosie. They gave out gifts which I didn't have to give out myself... (did I miss that memo?;)) and we ordered dinner. We were all on the DDP, but I ordered soup in addition to my meal. Let me just say this now. I LOVE soup. I've loved soup since I was a little kid. My favorite Campbell's is Campbell's Chunky Steak and Potato Soup. I also like Progresso Lentil soup (Gas-o-rama). Don't you love the Pop tops they now have...am I rambling about soup? I also worked at Souplantation/SweetTomatoes for 12 years...I was in food heaven everyday...:cloud9:. If the soup is cream based, well...you know what happens to me, but I like soup so much that I'll sometimes sacrifice the rest of my day to have a bowl of...Broccoli Cheddar soup....

ANYWAYS....I ordered this Tomato soup....It was amazing. AMAZING. I think I made Cherie (blue) try it.
056.jpg

Dinner came. Many of us ordered the Filet. It was quite good. I think we all forgot to take food pix. so out the cameras came and one woulda thought a celebrity was walking through the restaurant the flashes were coming so fast...:)
058.jpg

Here are some people photos because after all they're more important than the food:
056.jpg

Oops sorry....soup picture again. did I mention how good this soup was?

Here is a pic of Cherie and Rosie
057.jpg

And the previously posted group pic:
060-1.jpg

Dessert came out. I liked the Cheesecake, but was underwhelmed with the other two
059.jpg

Of course, really nothing could beat:
056.jpg

After we settled the tab, I called Wendy to see where they were at. They were up in the room and said to come on up. So we left the restaurant and headed out into the lobby:
061.jpg

I had forgotten to take my chonie picture of the day (a theme that would come up again and again). So I grabbed Winkers and told her to take a picture of me the the chonies of the day....Which ones were they and do I drop trow to show you..............

Real life stuff

Families are dysfunctional each in their own way. My family is no different. I have a SIL that is "special". She is very negative and uses every opportunity to ridicule my family's beliefs and whatever else she can think of. My parents are very gracious and accepting, me--not so much. It just takes so much effort to be around her. I have only ever stood up to her once and that's because she was slamming our faith in front of my parents--not cool. My mom was impressed that I took a stand. She was at that family gathering last week, but as you can see-not in any of my pictures. I was also supposed to join them for lunch along with my parents on Friday, but just couldn't muster the energy to deal with so much negativity on my day off....I wish I could be around her, but she just says things that are hurtful..anyways just a little side note into my family.

On a happier note, here's a link to something that's happening with my dad. He was interviewed for the San Diego State University Alumni Newsletter regarding him receiving an honorary degree. Here's the link:

Article regarding my dad.

I had a busy weekend. Bible Study Friday night. Church Custodian duties Saturday day. Youth Core dinner, Youth meeting....Church......I was wiped out by Sunday afternoon. I got home about 2:45pm and was OUT by 3pm...I woke up around 7pm....now I'm wide awake. I'm talking right now to one of the friends I visited last year in China....

We had such a good time at that dinner. I truly hope that we can all meet up again on another trip. Of course, 2012....but even more than that if it becomes possible.

Thanks for sharing that article about your father with us. Congratulations to him!!!! Wow, what an amazing journey. I am thankful to have read this today.....
“I think carrying excess baggage or bitterness narrows your perspective of life. It doesn’t expand you as a person. To carry something with bitterness and hurt scars you as an individual for not being able to overcome it. And to live in that state is something that is unhealthy as far as I’m concerned.”

You have no idea how much I really needed to read that right now. It is so true and sometimes we just need to be reminded. So, thanks to you for posting it and thanks to your father for being so wise and reminding us!

That soup does look tasty and the steak looks pretty good too!

I'm guessing the green coloured ones :rotfl:

I didn't even talk about the filet mignon. It was tender and delicious.

I was just wondering how the soup was?? I do not think you said :lmao:

Sorry about the family drama. I have that same situation in our family..not fun. And I am always the one to speak up (I know that surprises some of you;) )

I love that you all had dinner together. What a great time!!!

I LOVED the soup.....
056.jpg

I wish I could be more accepting and loving like my parents, but I'm not quite there yet.

Wish you could've been there.

Food looks soooooo good. Glad to hear the cab ride was uneventful.

Cool article on your dad.

And thank you for providing such an entertaining report, especially despite your busy schedules!

The article about my dad has definitely made the rounds.

I do my best to bring a fun, yet truthful account of how my trip went.:thumbsup2

Playing catch up ( again:sad2:)

Looks like a great meal.
I think you sported the green plaid ones.
Did you drop trow? I will say not all the way, maybe a couple of inches to let the chonies show.

Great article on your dad. Very positive attitude on a difficult situation.

It was one of my favorite meals of the trip as much for the company as the food.

Many people are picking the green plaid ones....hmmmmm

I didn't even know my dad had been interviewed--we're close like that.

The Pens may be an issue with their current arena ending its run next month. I'm sure the new one will be just as packed for a few years.

I can probably get you to a Steelers game. You just give me a date and I'll work my magic on the ticket gods. :)

I'd love to see crosby and malkin together..

I wouldn't mind seeing Ben R. work his magic ON the field rather than OFF...;)

If you EVER can make it out to CA, you know you have "family" out here. Wendy and Derek and I will definitely show you around.:thumbsup2

I guess I should listen to my dads advice in regards to my SIL......

I would have been crying I'm sure! Side ache and all.

Perhaps....just perhaps....a snort.

My friend Leslie just saw some pictures a couple of years ago, she really had no idea. There is a lovely book out that I highly recommend, you've probably heard of it called "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" that was full of interesting information about some of the events here in Seattle.

You and that soup.

I think every time you re-post the picture of the soup, you drop a to be determined amount of money in a jar for your next Disney trip. ;)

On a side note, please send positive thoughts and prayers our way. My mom just found out today that she may be losing her job at the end of the current school year. She's not sure how/what seniority (district or building) the school is going to use to cut jobs. We're hoping to hear by the end of the week whether or not she will lose her job or not.

ETA: The SIL part...I totally understand where you're coming from. My SIL is the same way. :(

sorry to hear that...budget cuts are happening everywhere in education at the moment...

Will definitely be praying...

Cha-ching goes the coin...

A snort.....snorts always make me laugh even harder.

Am looking up the book right now!
