The return of annual passes

This is about what I expected tbh. High cost, but at least there's parking, merch discount and some amount of reservation "flexibility." All things we'll use and appreciate. MM is not a deal breaker for me. Mostly just relieved to stop buying one day tickets since I missed out on grabbing APs last year. Sheesh those puppies really add up!

Just to chime in — it’s still way cheaper than buying the tickets outright for multiple trips within a given calendar year.

I mean you would have to go almost 13 times to break even. And if you are out of state you also have to factor in transportation to Florida and lodging. Realistically you would need to go about 20 times or more (staying offsite) to get any value now.

I’m so happy with the announcement. I just did the math, and the cost of park hopper tickets (with tax) for my 3 upcoming trips would be $2085.83, so I’m definitely coming out ahead, even with the Memory Maker add-on. And that’s just factoring in tickets, not any food, merch, or possible hotel discounts.

uh- how ? You used to be able to get the Gold Pass, for $150 cheaper, actually almost $200 cheaper, and it included memory maker/photopass. So, how is this going to save you money ?
First time annual passes for us. I never had it before. I think the Gold Pass also use to exclude mid-April. The Sorcerer does not exclude April. My savings is related to what I have currently purchased for tickets for my 9/29 trip and what I likely would have purchased for tickets for my April and July 2022 trips. We are a park intensive family currently.

We will save $2,500 in ticket costs over the next 3 scheduled trips with the Sorcerer's pass (DVC) and we will be able to go to the parks more days over those same trips. Its going to work well for us.
How? Every single pass went up in price. Unless you were planning on buying individual tickets for each trip there is no way it is cheaper.

I'm not sure how you're coming to that number, even if you compared it to single day tickets, that doesn't work. A 7 day hopper is approximately $560. Visit twice and that's basically the cost of an AP. That's not factoring in any discounts. If resort discounts continue (that's a big IF) then the savings are even greater. I don't see where anything has much changed in regards to when an AP becomes a money saver. It rarely ever saved money if you visited once a year and used to be around 10 days for the break even point. Now it's 12.

Someone can correct my math, but I just don't see it...

So correct me if I’m wrong: I am an out of stater, I try to go to Disney every other year, my next trip scheduled is December 2022. My tickets are 1550 for two pepper (750 each) for 10 days in the parks. Trip itself is over 5 figures. For me to have the annual passes work for me I would need to have at least 15-18 park days every year. Now I understand there maybe some other discounts with annual passes but it’s not productive of an out of stater to have an annual pass unless they go to Disney at least 3-4 weeks per year! Correct! Never mind what Disney has done by taking away other perks little by little, plus adding the money grabber Genie plus and Lightning Lane. So even with an annual pass you still can get quacked with adding more money with Genie plus and Lightning Lane. Disney has not told us any of the added costs to the Annual passes. Wow, it’s getting to be for the Rich and Famous!

DH and I actually considered a weekend trip down to WDW for Labor Day since room rates are so low. We looked at one day hoppers for this Friday...$185! Most days it's $174. (Obviously more expensive to buy in lesser amounts, but we like to do quick trips)

yes for us, the AP enticed us to go mulitple times per year and spend more money at disney. Now that we refuse to buy the APs, we won't do that anymore.

I understand there was a problem with some AP members going to disney and not spending money, but there should be a way to get those that stay a good distance away, to purchase them. If we purchase an AP, we're going to stay in disney hotel more than once a year, and will be buying meals at disney.

Raise the price of the APs...it's a big nope.

Remember the price today is $1550 for those tickets. Disney usually raises the price twice a year. Once in Feb and once in Aug. So no telling what the price will be for your Dec 2022 visit. And which two peppers are you taking, Jalapeno and Red Bell or Red Bell and Yellow Bell - LOL

It depends how long your trip will be I guess. For me, I have 2x 7 day trips planned for a total of 14 days, a 7 day trip in early December, and one in late April / early May. The cost for a 7-day park hopper from a ticket reseller that starts with U is $603.29 for December and $583.76 for a 7-day Park Hopper in late April - total is $1187.05 (before tax) vs. $1299 Incredi-Pass (before tax). So it is more expensive in this case, although if you renew it is $1104 plus tax, so it is just a little bit more after tax. A $99 Photo Pass for the year is still cheaper than if you pay for 1 trip at $169 (plus tax) for each trip or $338 for the 2 trips.

I am DVC, so the cost is actually cheaper when I renew the Sorcerer Pass.

If you make 3x 5-day trips though, the price is different ... lets say you go once this coming December for 5 days, once in May '22 and once in October '22.

Then the cost is $574.08, $548.39 and $572.32 or $1694.79 ... So cheaper to get the Incredi-Pass at that point.

Actually those that live in other countries get a great discount on tickets. Look at Expedia's UK web site and tickets on there when you do the conversion price to USA dollars is cheaper that what Americans pay.

In my dream world, they would've reduced the top tier pass for non-residents to match the resident price. But I knew that would never happen- I just never understood why non-residents pay more for the same exact pass when they really do spend more money while they're there. So of course, what they did was to bring residents up to what non-residents pay ...and then tacked on a little more.

We are residents of Pa. however we own a house in Tarpon Springs. We show the insurance and deed to our home and are able to receive the Florida tickets without issue.
But deeds are no longer accepted. Deeds, mortgage contracts, mortgage payment booklets and leases are not accepted.
