The restaurant you will never go back to...

I will tread carefully with this one.....Blue Bayou

The service stunk, the food quality was no where near what they were charging for it. The ambience is nice near the water any further back you see the ceiling of the restaurant...never again:angel:

You will find many complaints against BB in recent months. It seems most agree the astomphere is great but the food leaves something to be desired for the price.

LP- sorry I missed your finger slip! Wonder what you said! :confused3

What your sister said was 'ex*****ve.' A jumbling of the letters, if you will. Hee hee hee.

I can understand Ariel's Grotto having the same side dishes for all entrees as well as Plaza In but not the Blue Bayou. Apparently while the kitchen is down they are slinging veggies, fake potatoes (real potatoes do not have gluten in them, HRMPH, PFFFT), and the entree. I feel like I am in school cafeteria or in the Army.

The kitchen is down in the Blue Bayou? :tilt:

YES, major expansion of the New Orleans kitchen and the loss of Westside dining for CMs. Currently they are cooking food in the Plaza Pavilion then shipping it to New Orleans and serving the food there then shipping the dirty dishes back to the Plaza Pavillion.

I was on a bus bench and a trainer from attractions was talking to a foods CM who was a bit new and thought the New Orleans Kitchen was going to be closed for years. I have verified this elsewhere. Your Tesoro Island Chicken dinner has more miles than your rental car. :lmao: I also heard this a while back on another board that I am not with any more thankfully.

I have not seen this but can guess that they make vats of taters and steamed veggies plus trays of cooked meats then ship them to New Orleans for assembly. That or do like the airlines and make them ahead of time and cart them. Club 33 has its own kitchen and is not affected thankfully.

Go to Main Street and stare at the castle. On your right is Plaza In and the little red corny dog stand. Straight ahead is the Partners Statue of Walt. On your left is Plaza Pavilion which needs a better name and was the former pass holder processing center. It was once a restaurant but has not been used as a restaurant for a long time. Such a shame. It abuts the Tahitian Terrace and Tiki room area.

Well, that would explain why people have been complaining about the food. Maybe there will be a big improvement when it is finished. I'll wait and see. In the meantime, I'll just avoid BB.

Thanks so much for all the responses. I had no idea the food at BB had to take such a journey. I worked in catering after culinary school and no matter how hard you try, pre plated or pre cooked food is just not as fresh. I think my plan now is to avoid any place where large crowds may gather to watch the NBA finals since our beloved Nuggets were defeated last night and the Lakers will be playing. 7 more days!

I know I am in the minority here, but our worst dining experience by far was at Cafe Orleans. Before I start receiving hate PM's, let me explain what happened. Where to begin?

We were seated fairly quickly because we had a PS. My bf was wearing his bday button because we heard that sometimes CO gives out free bday beignets. The host took note that it was his bday and we were seated by another person. Then our server came to the table and took our order. We just ordered pommes frites and french onion soup with 2 waters. We got our waters a few minutes later, and that was the last time we saw the person who was supposed to be our server. Someone else brought our food about 5-10 mins later and we started eating. So all was going okay for a while...until we tasted the food. The soup was cold and had a very overpowering flavor that was difficult to stomach. I have had my fair share of french onion soup. I love it, in fact! But this one tasted horrible. I would have taken it back, except our server never came back to our table.

Second, we were both very disappointed in the pommes frites, which I thought were guaranteed to be delicious. The fries tasted stale and there was way more parmesan cheese on it than garlic. In fact, I couldn't taste any garlic at all. It made me miss our Gilroy garlic back home. The smell of the cheese was starting to make me sick after a while. We loved the remoulade that came with it, but we had to drown our fries in it to cover up the bad taste.

We were seated right by the door that led to the outside dining area, and tons of servers were walking in and out, right past us. My water glass was empty after only about 10 mins and wasn't refilled until about 5 mins after it was empty. We saw several bday beignets with candles in them, so we thought we would at least get one of those for free. Wrong. We waited and waited and a server never came back to ask if we needed anything else. We had to stop someone to order beignets and ask for our check. We waited for about 20 mins and kept seeing beignets going in and out of the door, but we weren't getting ours. Parties that came in after us received their entire meals before we even got our beignets. A different server had to apologize to us for the wait (I didn't even know where our original server was by that time). When we finally did get the beignets, we received one less than we were supposed to. We ate them and were still waiting for the check (this was about 30 mins after we asked for it). The same woman who apologized to us for the wait gave us our check, and when she picked it up she actually said she would make sure to give it to our server. I was amazed.

This was the worst service we have ever received at a restaurant in our lives, and the food was terrible. My bf didn't get his free bday beignet and we were denied one that was supposed to come with our order. There was no excuse for that poor service. We were seated right by the door and the only person who seemed to notice that we were waiting for an unreasonable amount of time wasn't even our server! To make things worse, it was our last full day at DL, so we wasted so much time there. We would have complained to the manager, but we just wanted to get out of there asap. Needless to say, we didn't tip. We will never go back there again.

The food was horrible at the Village Haus?!
Never again.

I know Storytellers Cafe has been mentioned before but we just had breakfast there and it was not eatible. the french toast was cold and soggy literally picked up the piece of french toast out of a pool of water (at least I think it was water)

For me ariels grotto. The menu is just not to my liking. I wish you could just go there for drinks.

Oh no! That is where we are going for DH's birthday on our last day too! I hope that was a one time fluke! :sad2:

Village Haus which is also known as Pinocchio Hause and taht Pinocchio Restaurant. There are two reasons here.

First off being gluten free meant I got a burger with cheese, bacon and lettuce for $8.59 which is the same thing offered at Tomorrrowland Terrace. Tomorrowland Terrace served my burger on a gluten free bun however. It is a thin piece of meat that was burnt a bit on the side and no juice or anything.

Second is Robert Irvine's comment on how over cooking food forms that sludge you find in pans which is globs of fatty stuff. The burger I got had lots of that sludge on the back side of it which indicates it was over heated and over cooked.

Third is the fact that Taste Pilot's Grill serves real tomato slices and pickles so eating at this restaurant is pointless as I have Tomorrowland Grill with gluten free buns as well as fresh toppings at Taste Pilot's Grill.

The lady next to me had the turkey sandwich and it was basically a long roll with turkey, bacon, and lettuce but no sauce as guests are supposed to add their own mayo and mustard. I was raised on club sandwiches which is three slices of toasted bread, meat, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and condiments/sauces like mayo.

As you can see in that shot that I am not the only person to get the dry burger.

Summation is that for $6 more I can get dinner at Plaza Inn or for the same price get a better treated thin burger at Tomorrowland Terrace or a super burger at Taste Pilot's Grill for the same price. It is a cute place to eat but basically is a warehouse to set and eat.

We have never had very good service there (nothing like SilentFeline's experience though), everyone is always nice and pleasant but not very attentive. I keep dragging DH back though so I can get my Monte Cristo and Pommes Frites! DH even got a nice long hair in his caesar salad several years ago and we still go back.....

We just got home from a 6 day stint at Disneyland. We ate tons of food at a variety of places. Of them all, there are two places we won't be returning to.

First is Goofy's Kitchen. We went for dinner and it was absolutely awful. The food was edible at best. My older son loved the ribs but my younger ones barely touched their food. The pizza looked like it had been sitting out for hours (congealed cheese and pepperoni on cardboard is what it looked like), the macaroni and cheese was super runny, the buns for the hot dogs were crunchy, the chicken nuggets were cold. The "adult" food was hardly any better. The character experience left a lot to be desired. The only two characters there were Captain Hook and Genie. They interacted with each other in funny ways but seriously....only two characters? I can take the bad food for the character experience but it was seriously lacking. The highlight of the night came after my 6 year old daughter was pushed out of the way by all the other kids when Goofy was making a cake. She was literally one of the first ones down (we were seated right next to the buffet area) and kids stormed down and literally pushed her out of the way while the parents watched on. She came back to the table crying. A little bit later, Goofy came over and could see she was upset. He interacted really cute with her and played for quite some time with her. The next time they did an activity, Goofy walked over to our table and led my daughter up by the hand and danced with her. Kudos to Goofy for that but the food left a bad taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively). We won't be back.

The second place is Napa Rose. All I can say is - save your money. I'd heard such great things about it so I was really excited to try it. Our appetizers were good but not amazing like I hoped they'd be. Dh's salad was okay but my soup was nasty. It tasted burnt. YUCK! For entrees, my DH had the pork dish and it was okay but again, nothing spectacular. My ravioli on the other hand was terrible. I had two bites and could eat no more. The flavor could have been good but the consistency of the filling was seriously like a paste. It wasn't creamy, it wasn't chunky....it was like a paste that stuck to the roof of my mouth. I couldn't eat it. I consider myself a foodie. I love food and am always willing to try something at least once. I'm not a picky eater at all. There is very little I don't like. I have never, ever sent a meal back. I have never even wanted to send something back unless it was a steak that wasn't cooked how I asked for it. To me, part of the dining experience is trying new things and if I don't like it, I'll know for next time. This time however, I truly considered sending it back, although I didn't. The service was fine but it wasn't what I would expect from a fine dining experience like Napa Rose. At the very least, the waiter should have asked why I barely touched my meal but he never did. The highlight of the meal was the fantastic bottle of Pinot!

Thank goodness we went several other places that we'll definitely be enjoying again. Can't wait for our next trip.

I agree that Naples is not good. I went there years ago and really liked it but when I went recently it was way over priced and not tasty. Also, my experience at Storytellers was such that I will never go back. The character interaction was minimal and the food just wasn't good. I ate it because it was expensive, but just didn't like it. We have gone to goofys with success and I would like to try minnie and friends and the lilo and stitch meal, but won't go back to storytellers.

I don't think I have ever read such a bad review of Napa Rose. The ravioli was terrible?

Well, as I just said in another thread, if we all made a note of which DLR restaurants people have had problems with or hated on DIS and decided to avoid eating at ALL of those places....frankly, none of us would be eating anywhere in DLR ever again!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: They would lose all of their dining business! So thankfully, we have all been brave enough to venture out into the great wide open of DLR dining experiences with open minds and decided what works best for us and our groups based on our own experiences!
