Being a new DVC member and buying annual passes this year, we will be staying 21 nights at Disney with DVC. I added the cost of these stays in using rack rate and tax, it was $10,018.00. Being a little shocked.. I told my brother I was already saving a huge amount of money this year using DVC. He replied, "You didn't save that much money.... because there is no way you would have spent that much money to stay that often". I said, "That's the point, I can NOW"!

Well Said.

We've just finished our year of 19 visits (2/2001 - 2/2002)
and looking forward to doing it again. 25 days until the magic begins again.:)

I agree, that's one of the things that makes the "Is DVC worth it?" question hard to answer.

This year we will take two trips to WDW, total of 13 nights. Next year we have already planned two trips, same total of nights.

There is absolutely no way we would ever have done this without DVC. It also allowed us to take advantage of an annual pass (the two trips this year and first one next year will all be within a year).

So I realistically can't add up the rack rates (or discounted cash ressies) of resorts and compare my savings. It just wouldn't have happened without DVC.

DVC makes quality vacations more affordable, more often for us. That's how we put a value on DVC.

DVC is more a life style thing than saving for us. Gives us something to look forward to and plan for.

Also helps get veggies in to the 4 year-old. Here's a bite like splash mountain, swoosh inot her mouth. :D

I agree. I bought DVC for the luxury of it, being able to stay in a wonderful 1 bedroom unit. I like the fact too that I don't have to come up with a lump sum for a hotel room. We liked to stay in the deluxe resorts before, so it was well over $1,000 for the room alone each time.

It's also wonderful to be able to invite family members who might not otherwise be able to swing such a trip. A 2BR will be more fun for our group, IMHO, then a bunch of hotel rooms!

DVC for me is simple...a worthwhile investment in family time!

We were always apt to vacation atleast once a year, but now we do it more often (nicer places) and that is priceless with a husband who travels as much as mine does.

In just the year we have been members we've gone to Big Cedar twice, Disney for a week in Jan, just back from HH for a week. And we made memories I will treasure forever at each spot.

DVC's logo should be...the best investment in family time you can ever make.
