The real Melbourne DISmeet Fri 7th October 2016

[Minniemum]

We seem to be settling in on a very regular group of 3DisFriends. Minniemum taking the picture, with Zanzibar, Fairy Floss, Zaccy (and Zaccy in front) and myself (PiO) in attendance.

As always, conversation did touch on Disney; and our respective trips. But we spent a lot of time catching up on life in general and how things have been since the last time we saw each other.

Our catch-ups are now at a regular enough interval that we are becoming firm 3D friends.

And yes, there are definitely plans to have another Melbourne DisMeet in June.

Firm friends? I think I'll have to borrow Fairy Floss's bikini t-shirt for that!

Thanks to everyone following along for your kind thoughts. It's hard to believe PiO posted about a potential Melbourne Dismeet all the way back in December 2011 and didn't get any takers.

2013 has been a different story. We had an auspicious start in February. Then had back to back hosting duties in March (Caroline NZ's grand prix visit) and April (Aussie Wendy's MSO Pirates of the Caribbean visit). Come May and we've really found our groove. We've dropped our guards, gotten to know each other and shared plenty of laughs.

Caroline NZ, I can confidently say we will continue to make the effort.

Aussie Wendy, yes we love putting the rest of the states to shame so if anyone from another state needs a Disney fix we're more than happy to host

Of course to other locals - Melbournians, Victorians - come on down! It's an open invitation.

I'm a bit like you Minniemum. I'm not a fan of having my pic taken either. I tend to only publish pics of myself that were taken from a distance (PIO, just a heads-up for our Dismeet in October).

It's so wonderful that you all have formed such a close friendship. Your Dismeets always look delightful.

I will come home one month soon to match ip with this. Aussie Wendy we shall organise a Brisvegas meet to welcome you home and we should pencil in a November meet to after the Sept returnees and Alicia returns and before franrose goes.

It was rather nice. The only minor complaint I had about it was that the pastry at the base was a little thick (and dry). But as I ate it all up, it wasn't that bad.

Celebrating the start of Winter with a Melbourne DisMeet



Winter is the coldest season of the year in temperate climates, between autumn and spring. The name comes from an old Germanic word that means “time of water” and refers to the rain and snow of winter in middle and high latitudes.

It is caused by the axis of the Earth in the respective hemisphere being oriented away from the Sun. Different cultures define different dates as the start of winter, and some use a definition based on weather, but when it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and vice versa. In many regions, winter is associated with snow and freezing temperatures.


In Australia, the official start of winter is 1 June. What better way to celebrate than with a DisMeet?
