The June 2014 DisMeet (Melbourne Chapter) - Freaky Friday
It was time for another Melbourne DisMeet and our chosen location was the foodcourt up in the new Emporium on Lonsdale Street.
The places to eat here aren't your standard run-of-the-mill fast food places. The Emporium management deliberately wanted restaurant quality fast food; and despite what might seem to be an oxymoron, I think they might have achieved their aim.
Chinta Ria, the restaurant chain owned by Simon Goh, has opened up a branch here. One of us got the Roti Chanai with the Char Kaoy Teow.
I think I'm going to have to try this CKT next time I'm here.
Guzman y Gomez is one of those fast food Mexican Taquerias opening up across the country. A branch opened up right here at the Emporium. One of us ordered an enchilada.
It was pretty popular with the Melbourne Dis-sers present. One of us got the soft shell Taco.
From all accounts, the Mexican Cola was nice enough.
Better yet! GyG offers adult drinks. This would be the Latin Lemonade.
They don't sell their alcoholic slushies without food purchase. So, someone had to purchase the corn chips from GyG in order to get the Sangria.
That someone was eating Japanese. I think this was from the Sushi Hon store.
There was another Japanese food lover present. They ordered an udon dish.
My dish was from the I Love Pho shop. I got the beef and yet more beef balls Pho.
And after dinner, we remembered to capture the official record of the DisMeet.
We adjourned to the Cacao Lab for an indulgence. I didn't capture everyone's order as I was too busy focussing on my tea.
....or was that the amazing chocolate brownie?
I did manage a shot of the iced chocolate??
I completely missed the hot chocolate indulgences on the other side of the table and also the macaroons.
We had a great night and talked about life and work and family. The conversation also covered up-coming trips and trips completed. Sadly, we did try to view pictures from a recently completed trip but the technology failed us.
Great night, as always, Melbourne.
Here's to next month!
