I don't remember a trail of blood. The last image I saw was Sylar laying on the ground and then Hiro in the past with an army forming around him and who we assume was his father riding up on a horse.

Sylar was on the ground, then Peter and Nathan flew away and went boom. Then they flashed over all the other heroes that were near by with Moe talking over the scene. You saw a trail of blood from where Sylar was leading to under a manhole. Then there was a close up of the manhole with a cockroach on top of it, just like when Sylar was in his cell there were cockroaches in there. Then they cut to Hiro in the field. At least that's how I remember it.
