~ The Real Housewives of Orange County ~ Season 12~ 2017 ~ JULY 10th

The episode was just weird all the way around for me. Everyone grieves in their own way, but her reaction seemed forced to me, and her brother's phone conversation was just bizarre, too, and then Shannon kept saying something to the effect of "are you serious?" more than once in that scene which was just stupid. Why would anyone joke about that??? Just strange. I was surprised to hear how old Vicki's mom was, too. She looked great for her age. Hopefully some of the petty drama will end now that this has happened. A little drama is always fun, but some of the stuff this season has just been too much nonsense. Lol

I think that's something people say out of shock.

I know I said the exact same thing to my husband after he received a phone call that his mother had died. Of course I didn't really think he was joking about it.

Am I the only one who found Vicki's reaction overly dramatic? There is no way I believe she didn't have the ability to ask for privacy at that moment. And why did she have to call Brianna from a landline at that moment? I don't buy it.

Like another poster said, Briana may have texted her to call on a landline because they are required to use speaker phone when they are on the cell phone while filming.

I haven't watched the episode yet, but it's my opinion that Vicki would have probably been ticked if they hadn't aired it.

That was so hard to watch. I really want to believe the producers went to Vicki and asked if she was comfortable with airing that footage as it is so raw. If they didn't then that had to reopen an already broken heart.

I'm with the rest of you, I don't like the new HW. She waltzes in with an attitude. She married into money and it clearly shows.

The Shannon and David storyline is awful. The couples therapy weekend, what in the world?? The eulogy was just weird. I'm over it.

According to Andy Cohen on WWHL last night, they did discuss airing the footage with Vicki and she was of the mind that the show has followed her for 10 years and recorded the good and bad of her life and she was okay with it being shown. Andy did say he told Vicki that she should not watch the episode.

I'm not going to judge Vicki's reaction to her Mom's death. It was a shock and we all react differently.

I agree. She was clearly shocked and devastated. Her mother was healthy and her death was completely unexpected.
The other ladies were shocked too and just didn't know what to do.
Her brother had just randomly found his mother dead in her bed. Of course their conversation was less than normal.

I think it's probably just the editing combined with the airing of it all. The phone call with her brother seemed like he couldn't off the phone fast enough, which just seemed weird to me, but perhaps he wasn't wanting it to be filmed. As one who has gotten that call about a sibling, I can tell you that it is one of the worst things to ever go through. Just heartbreaking...

Everyone reacts differently to death. I think it was real and genuine. She was blindsided. It wasn't expected. At that moment all she wanted was her Mom back. My heart hurts for anyone in that position.

I think her brother was just in shock and couldn't talk because he was about to break down. Finding your mom dead has to shake you to your core.

Twitter was all abuzz last night about whether or not it should have been filmed and aired. I read Vicki's blog and she said the bravo production company was very good to her that night. I would like to assume that bravo went to Vicki and asked her if it should be aired. Andy pretty much confirmed that on WWHL last night. He was the one who talked to her about it. I think Andy has a true soft spot for Vicki and wouldn't do anything to hurt her. Especially this.
I didn't know that they are required to put their cell on speaker phone. That explains the landline.
For those who are saying that Vicki's reaction was over the top......everyone reacts differently. That is devastating news. I think Vicki always felt guilty about not living closer to her mom. She said after about going there "they are all there but me." My heart broke for her last night. Very sad.

I think I've read somewhere that Vicky loosing her mom gives Tamra a wake up call and their friendship improved a lot and she accepts brooks. I wish I could remember where I heard that

I think Briana texted Vicki and asked her to call on a land line because Vicki asked Shannon, "Can I use your house phone?" Like others said, I'm sure Briana was trying to avoid the whole conversation being aired.

I watched the episode last night, and it was so sad. My heartbreak for Vicki. I agree with those who said maybe it shouldn't have been aired.
I did see where Andy Cohen said Vicki said it was ok to air, so I guess it was her decision.

Now Meghan, I am going to say something that may irritate some, here goes....... I feel like there is zero between Meghan and her husband. They are newlyweds and act like roommates.
On a previous episode where one of his ex-wives and the mother of his 14 yr old was at her charity party. Meghan said she was suffering with stage 4 cancer, I think colon cancer. My personal opinion is he married this one to be his babysitter for this girl while he travels 50% of the time for whatever he is doing with baseball. It seems like the mother may not make it thru the sickness, and he will need someone to take care of her because he probably rather not. That's just my thoughts I hope I am wrong and her mother beats the cancer and can raise her daughter.
He is just blech to me.

I felt so badly for Vicki. Grief stinks.

About Megan...I think she's an unpleasant mix of immaturity and self-obsession. She's probably met her match, though. Her husband seems pretty difficult, too. On the plus side for the newlyweds, it appears they bought a house.
$2.8 million, 6 bedroom, 5077 sq ft, hope they can make do.

That's pretty funny since on the show she said she hoped they could find something that fit their needs under $10 million.

Good point! One other thing from the link above, they talk about the old house that was recently sold:

"Earlier this year, the former ballplayer sold his longtime home in Irvine’s Shady Canyon for $6.775 million. The three-story home is highlighted by a game room, a movie theater, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 10,000 square feet of living space."

Sounds like this was Edmond's year for some major downsizing...although he did go with the trophy wife option.

Yeah, but he knows she's just temporary........
My house would probably fit in Heather's bathroom with space left over too :)

I agree with everyone about Meghan and Jim. He's been through 2 divorces so he knows how the division of assets work. I say his downsized home speaks volumes for his belief that the relationship will last.

Meghan's smart enough to know that she'll end up ahead in life by settling for the rich, "old" divorced guy with kids instead of waiting for Mr. Perfect to come along. She can find Mr. Perfect after the divorce.

I really dislike Heather. When she was going on about the "cheap $50 t-shirts" I wanted to jump through the screen.
