What is everyone's opinions on the Rainforest Cafe? I have had dinner at a Rainforest Cafe at a mall in my state. Is it better than that? I thought the atmosphere would be great for kids but I wasn't exactly thrilled with the food. Opinions please.

We ate at the one at DTD a few years ago. We will never go back.

We ate at the one at AK in November 2002 - I would rather take a poke to the eye with a burning stick than ever eat there again.

Horrid. Absolutely.

Daisy;)

Wow, Daisy! I've never eaten at Rainforest Cafe, but there are lots of things I'd eat before taking a burning stick in the eye. I think food from Rainforest Cafe might be one of them. ;)

Pat

280 days and counting . . . again

Okay, maybe with just a regular stick.

But it was still pretty horrid.

We ate at the one in AK two years ago. We have one in Connecticut. We actually like the restaurant. The salads especially are very delicious and they give you a lot of food. My son loves the coconut shrimp and my little one likes the kiddie pizzas.

The biggest thing I have to admit I despise about AK's is how long they take to bring your food! It is unbelievable. I mean, you are on the verge of fainting from hunger before they bring it and all you have on your table is your drink. Their choice of background music was not my favorite either.

But the RFC is the same everywhere: Same menu, same atmosphere, same prices. I got some certificates as rewards from My Points and plan to use them at the AK.

The worst place in Disney I ever ate at was the 50's Prime Time. Now there's a place I could not wait to get out of! Expensive food, noisy atmosphere, rambunctious kids and adults acting even worse than them, caotic tables, waiters that you just wish had been through an audition in - front - of - American Idol's Simon- style and hear what they are really good for...

The RFC is not half that bad.

We've been to the RFC at WDW and at the mall by our house. Definitly steer clear of WDW RFC. Service is HORRID, to say the very least and I'm not going to bore you with everything else wrong with it.

There are tons of other great food options at WDW to choose from. Leave the RFC for your next trip to the mall. We have a RFC club card that we use everytime we go, my kids love it, and we do too, just not at WDW.

Which mall is yours in?

We love RFC. The one at DD is ok, but we like the one at AK much better. Sure the food is over priced, but what at WDW isn't.

Ours is in CT, Tink. We are also members of the safari club.

In spite of those glitches I mentioned, we still like the RFC. Like I said before, there are worse places to eat at WDW and this one is not what I'd describe as the worst of all...

We love the RFC and we eat there every trip. the way i look at it is every restaurant has good and bad reviews from people you will not find 1 restaurant that everyone agrees on, everyone has diffrent tastes.

I generally like the food at RFC (especially the salads) but HAVE noticed that the service at DTD & AK are slower than our local mall version.

Guess since I've "experienced" RFC, I'd prefer to try out a different/new WDW restaurant instead.

Denise < --- too many WDW restaurants, never enough time ;)

I went for breakfast at AK--was there when it opened--food was fine and I plan to do the same thing this trip----used GCs both times!

We've eaten the AK, DT disney, and Mall of America locations.

We've always had good food at each location, but service IS slow. The Mall of America restaurant prices are a LOT less than Orllando.

herc.

On our last trip we ate at both RFC locations at WDW. THe food was good at both, and service was a bit slow--but not any different than I have seen at a mall RFC. My daughter's thought the atmosphere was great.

It was fine. My main complaint would be it's overpriced. But you are paying for atmosphere, I guess. The wait was 1/2 hr at 5:45pm on a weekday. Once we were in, service was fast. and when my baby spilled ice water on me and the floor, 3 people rushed over to clean it up. If I had one in a nearby mall though, I wouldn't have gone there.

We had planned to eat at Wolfgang Pucks but didn't realize the restaurant was at the other end of DT Disney. Oh well.

Last May when my finace and I went to Disney we skiped RFC we did eat twice at planethollywood. But I have ate there in the past and I really like it. It is a bit expensive but it is Disney. You don't go to Disney to save money. We will be on our honeymoon when we go in May but I think we will eat at Rainforest this time. everyone has a different option. the worst rest i ever ate in Disney was Sci-fi in MGM that was the worst and very expensive. But I lot of people love it. So Try in once you will never know.

Barbara:
there are so many other WDW eateries that you can't find at your mall--try those over the RF.
You can always go into the retail store to shop for specialized merchandise but know the food (and service) will be exactly the same as any mall store.

There is nothing unique to the RF in WDW, other than the locations.
If you want tropical and Disney, you can't beat a meal at the Poly!!

We ate there 3 times on our last disney trip. Great crab cakes and super smoothies. There are none in our state (carolina), so we thought the aquarium with tropical fish was novel. We used connections vouchers, so the $ wasn't an issue.
