It says "don't interrupt their work with questions or Friend Requests"... Ok... fair enough... but then WHY draw MORE attention to them by giving them BLUE EARS?!?!

Give ME some blue ears so people can spot me in a crowd.

Believe me, I am not a community leader for the glory of it (yeah, I know.. WHAT glory?? lol), but if they did give us CLs something to make us look different, without people having to search us out and click on us, it'd be much easier for new people to find us when they're in a new room or area of VMK.

I know that the Host and Staff *have* to wear their green ears when they're on VMK, but if they gave us CLs a special hat or something to wear, we could wear it while we're "on duty" so to speak, in other words, available to help others. I know there are a few times when I just want to play pirates or whatever with my friends, and even then I will stop and help people and answer questions, but most of the time I'm more than willing, and available, to help others, and it'd be great to somehow signal this to people in a non-verbal way, such as wearing a specific hat. You know, the CL badge we wear has the Sorcerer hat emblem on it, they should make a special sorcerer hat for us CLs.. maybe a green one?? I hope VMK is reading this

That's actually a really good idea -- I like it. As you said, the assumption would be that if you're wearing the hat, you're available to help out.

The only question... what kind of hat? Since the sorceror hat is already taken, how about...
- a big cone hat that says Dunce on it?
- one of those gag arrow sticking out through either side of your head?
- a lampshade?
- Viking helmet, a la MousseDude?


But seriously, it is a good idea, that might make people more likely to approach CL_'s to ask questions.

I understand that a lot of people would apply to be a CL just for the special item, but a lot of people already apply to be a CL just to get the letters in front of their name anyway, so I don't see that as being a reason to not let us have something to point us out in a room. Also, a lot of people have seen how difficult it is to become a CL, so hopefully that would deter people from applying who were only hoping to get something special.

I like the Mickey ears too...I wish we ALL could get them in different colors

P.S. Another idea.. maybe give the CLs a special hat or something ONLY after they've been a CL for a year; this way the CL has proven themselves (well at least hopefully not gotten themselves banned or anything lol), and it's a nice reward for having donated their time for the previous 12 months... AND, people would know that they wouldn't get this special item immediately upon becoming a CL, so maybe it'd keep the people from applying who really only want to do it for selfish reasons.

There you go, you're onto something! Make the hat hideous so that only those of us CLs who truly are committed to helping others would want to wear it!


P.S. I sent this idea into VMK a little while ago.. Just the general idea of giving the CLs a specific hat, not the hideous part LOL

I think that's a really good idea. In a crowded room, it can take forever to find a CL just by clicking on each person.

And if people are applying just to get the "special" clothing, then just make it clear that if it's found out that they are not CL material after the fact, the "special" clothing would be taken away along with their CL_ status.

Some people, I'm sure, apply just to ge the CL_ before their names. And for the status. So what's so different about Identifying clothes?

Well, you can always take it one step further. HIDEOUS, NON-tradable, and finally... the coup de grace... NON-removable! That should weed out those who just want the exclusive item, right?

Back to being semi-serious: I agree with Capegirl / Seaspray -- many apply for the so-called "prestige" of the badge and the CL_, neither of which is easy to spot in a crowd.

So, how about -- take away the CL_, take away the badge, and give something can be worn so that the people who are supposed to be helping new players, can actually be SEEN by new players.

And make it hideous, just as a bonus.

Oh wait.....thats right, i did. a month before the cutoff last year. sent in my answers and never got a reply. Then when i asked red i was told we'd be reviewed before any new apps. hmmm, still waiting on my letter either way rofl.
