The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

I'm so glad to have found your report. It took me two days, but I read through the whole thing. I especially loved your PTR. Your level of planning and organization gives me something to aspire to. I can't wait to hear if you actually made it to Spectro & Wishes. You have a beautiful family.

Welcome!!! Thank you so much! I am so glad you have enjoyed it! Oh, we get to Spectro and Wishes -- remember I said I was staying no matter what? ;)

Rest is crucial, because you do walk more than you realize. And that all important pool time for the kids is necessary for the good of the whole group. We let Brooklynn have pool time every day, and it wore her out for a good nap. After the nap, she was ready to face the evening in a good mood.

We've eaten at Earl many times, but we've never had a breakfast sandwich there. Love that bread!

It's fun to go into Goofy's Candy Company, but hard to choose what to get. Many, many choices - and everyone back home always likes to get Goofy treats as a 'souvenir'.

Resting and pool time were crucial for us, too -- my problem was getting my family motivated for the evening after dinner. :headache:

The bread was soooo good! :lovestruc

We always say we are going to bring home our treats from Goofy's, but they never seem to last past the first day -- maybe we aren't buying enough?

AKL looks amazing! So does CBR. I hope you get a great deal for AKL.

That's great that it held up. That is some powerful face paint!

I am just sooo ready to book for next year so I can start planning!

It was powerful -- I wonder what kind of paint they use?

just got caught up on your TR again.. love the updates! I should have also predicated the "outcome" of the face painting b/c of THAT day!! haha...

Sorry to hear about Y&Y, I would have been fuming too, .. we ended up skipping our ADR but sortof wished we would have tried it, I wasn't to impressed with the CS tho.

Can't wait to hear about your Kona dinner, that was one of our favorites too :)

THAT day appears to be living in infamy on many of our TRs!

I haven't heard the greatest about the Yak and Yeti CS -- hmmm, where to eat at Animal Kingdom now???

Our Kona dinner turned out to be one of our favorites, too.

I am too! We should plan together. I wonder when the new package prices will be available. And while I loved A Year of a Million Dreams, I'm over it. It was two years with the same promotion. I'm hoping the marketing people come up with something different.

Definitely planning together is a good thing!

I am ready for a new promotion also!

Judging by last year's release dates, my money is on either August 3rd or August 10th.

What are your dates for your August trip again?

I love DTD days!!! We like to get ornaments there too! Every year we get the annual one and the kids pick out one too!

When we reached the Magic Kingdom, we discovered that we were very early for our dinner reservation, but not quite early enough to be able to manage to enter MK, do a few rides, and head to the Poly for dinner.

Connor asked if we could take the boat over to the Polynesian so we did. A first for us and the ideal way to kill some time.

Here are some pictures of our boat ride over. The resort launch stops at the Grand Floridian first.

We were still rather early, so we explored the grounds and found some Tikis willing to pose for pictures with us!

We headed upstairs and although we were still a little early, Kona Cafe was pretty empty, and they were able to seat us fairly quickly.

The service was superb and the food was wonderful! I ordered the macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi, Charles and Chelsea ordered the filet mignon, and Connor ordered chicken of some sort. I also ordered an Island Sunset drink (orange juice, pineapple juice, and rum). Our waiter brought us the most delicious bread with a sweet butter that was soooo good! I easily could have eaten my fill on the bread alone!

WORD OF WARNING: The filet comes with mushrooms, and it does not state it on the menu. Charles has a pathological dislike of mushrooms to the point where he will not even eat anything that has touched mushrooms. Imagine his dismay when his filet arrived with mushrooms all over it. To salvage the situation, I traded entrees with him (sometimes I have three children instead of just two ;) ). I did manage to have a few bites of the mahi mahi before handing it over to him, and it was delicious. The filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus was also very tasty (thankfully).

For dessert we all ordered the Kilauea Torte -- it was like a little chocolate cake volcano filled with chocolate syrup. Mmmmm!!! If you love chocolate, this is a must-have.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Kona -- it was quiet, service was friendly and efficient, and the food was very good.

We were ready to forge onward to the Magic Kingdom!

I guess I should just have a little patience! :lmao:

I can't wait to eat at Kona Cafe....yummmmm. I am so torn between many entrees. Did you have the sticky wings?? I can't wait to try those.

Your pictures turned out so well. I love the tiki poses and the one with the kids waiting for the monorail with their backs towards the camera. So cute.

On a side note, I have been attempting to make a picture signature with all of our wedding pics but I am not being very sucessful at it. Granted, I am trying to do it at work.....:rotfl:

Oh, that macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi sounds delicious! I'm not sure I'd have given it up, myself. What a loving wife you are! :rotfl:

And methinks I'm detecting a pattern to Connor's food choices... "chicken of some sort" indeed! :lmao:

Pictures with the tiki are very cute. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

The boat ride looks lovely and what cute photos at the Poly. Thanks for the info about the fillet, they should put that on the menu!

My DH can't stand mushrooms, either, but he would've been stuck because I would have ordered the filet as well!

God I so LOVE Kona Cafe!!! You are making me so hungry for it right now! UGH!!! The food was so good! Our night at Kona is coming up in my next update, and this much talking about it is just killing my stomach!! I don't think anything I make for supper is going to taste good now thinking of that WONDERFUL meal!! MMMMMMMM GOOD!!!!

great update and pics.

loved the boat ride.

Love Kona. My favorite meal last time.

Jackie you had both meals that DH and I would probably get. Glad to hear they were YUM-O :goodvibes I just don't know if it's a good choice for us with a 18 mo old.

oh, your post makes me want to eat there! That sounds so yummy!!

Sounds like your relaxed state allowed for some unexpected adventures! (In a good way, of course!)

Oh, CP.

What have you done?:lmao:

Kona Cafe sounds good.

Really, really, really good.

Uh oh. I am torn by the desire to eat macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi and yummy yummy bread and the overwhelming need not to change anything. :::sigh:::

By the by, pictures with the tikis are soooo cute! I love Connor's shirt, I thought about buying it for my DS.:goodvibes
