The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

How neat that he got that pin.

Don't you just love it when the kids have something so unexpected and simply wonderful happen for them?!!

I love Grey's Anatomy and the infinite wisdom it gives me :D Great chapters! Can't wait for more, woohoo!

Thank you! Grey's Anatomy is one of my favorites, too!

The look on his face was priceless -- I wish I had a picture of that!

Woo hoo! An update!

Firstly, I must state you had some great moments, despite the mishaps! And I find it hilarious that you managed to go with the flow one day before you debunked that whole concept for yourself!:lmao:

Now that's the CP we know and love!

I'm thrilled over Connor's special moment. It so reminds me of when I left Morroco and DS got to meet Aladdin.:goodvibes

It was crazy!!!

Four trips planned? I hope you are buying an annual pass!

Woo hoo! An update!

See, I knew you would be excited! ;)

We had a great time overall, but 2 rides? Who goes to a Disney park and only fits in two rides??? It boggles my mind!

Going with the flow -- I can't do it -- it makes me all rattled trying to go with the flow. Even with a plan, I get frazzled, but not as badly.

I am hoping to learn some going with the flow tips from you in September. :thumbsup2

I'm a mixture of Rabbit and Piglet. :goodvibes

I'm thrilled over Connor's special moment. It so reminds me of when I left Morroco and DS got to meet Aladdin.:goodvibes

It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.

I actually thought of your DS's Aladdin moment when we were in Morocco. :goodvibes

I am thinking about it. I just have to know for sure those trips are definites.

I totally understand, believe me. I'm sure once my son is older, he'll have things he wants to do, but for now, he's a go with the flow type of kid, as long as he's well fed and rested.:thumbsup2 Aren't we all?

Oh, I'm sure there will be plenty!:goodvibes

Boy, I'm not sure who I am in that bunch. Probably Pooh. Because I love food.:rotfl2: Although I like to think my motherly instincts are similar to Kanga. :goodvibes DS would be Tigger, for sure. So much energy! DH...hmmm....

You can always upgrade when you get there -- you just have to pay the difference between the tickets you have and the AP prices.

:rotfl2: That actually makes me feel better to know I am not the only one!

My kids had things they wanted to make sure they did, but suprisingly they weren't all rides.

My kids are definitely both Tiggers -- especially Chelsea.

Great update!! I love how Disney does little things that can really make your day, or your whole stay. Can't wait to read more about your trip. Hope your DH comes out of his benedryl induced coma before your trip is over.

I too have gained all my medical knowledge from Grey's. I wonder if they have a degree for that kind of thing :rotfl:

I'm sorry about TSM, it wasn't opened yet when we went so I didn't even think about it. At least you had a sweet CM moment to make up for it. More than once Cat was given an extra pin when trading with a CM and it really made her day.

I don't do flowy on a Disney vacation, plans are the best :thumbsup2

I'm late for the PTR but I'm here for the TR....'

First off... my hubby plays WoW also....not as much as he used to but he is a hardcore gamer of any games, so i sympathize!

And thanks for thr links, makes late comers like me able to catch up...

I love Boma! I was salivated at your list!

How cute were you with Darth Vader!

Poor charles and his drug induced coma.

Love the CM giving Connor the pin!

Thank you! The little touches and kindnesses on the part of the CMs are definitely a couple of the reasons that we continue going back to WDW every year! You just can't find it anywhere else!

He does as you will see!

That's too cute about Cat!

No more flowy -- well, there are a couple of flowy moments, but they were planned! :lmao:

:welcome: -- you're never too late! I'm glad that you are enjoying it! :goodvibes

Charles doesn't play WoW much anymore -- it's all Age of Conan now -- he expects me to share his excitement over his leveling and quests. ;)

Boma is one of our favorites! It was THE favorite but we found another one to add on this trip.

Charles does eventually get to participate in the vacation! :lmao:

I'm a bit late to the party, but I just spent lots of my Sunday reading your pre-trippie, and trip report! Yay! :hyper:

Your kids are very cute, and it sounds like you all have a blast together. :thumbsup2

Although, I must admit... I thought Charles was your son's name!! Somehow I switched the names, so when Charles had lots of Benadryl and kept falling asleep, I was so worried! Then you were going to put him on the bus by himself!?! Augh!! :scared1:

Then I realised, oh.. hang on. Charles is her husband!!! Duuh me!!! :rolleyes1

Anyway, really enjoying your report so far!! Thanks for keeping me occupied today on my sleepy Sunday afternoon! :)

No more flowy -- well, there are a couple of flowy moments, but they were planned! :lmao:
You are so sneaky... making it seem FLOWY, but it's a calculated FLOWY!

That's frowned upon?! :headache: Darn. ;)

Too funny thinking Charles was her son!!:lmao:

After 36 hours of sleep (I may be exaggerating the amount, but not by much), Charles woke up refreshed and ready to go! So refreshed and ready to go, that he roused us all out of bed long before Mickey and Stitch could do their thing. He was bummed about missing a full day of park touring, and while he didn't say anything, judging by his actions the rest of the day, he was determined to make up for it.

It was our first Epcot day. Last year, we never made it to World Showcase, so I purposely scheduled two Epcot days this time so we could do all that we wanted to do. Today was going to be our Future World day with a couple of World Showcase countries thrown in for good measure. Did we ride more than two rides today? Wait and see! ;)

We ate breakfast at Sassagaloula Float Factory. Charles and Chelsea had the King Creole Breakfast Platters; I had the croissant breakfast sandwich; and Connor (grumpily -- it killed him on this trip that his sister was able to order off the adult menu) had the kid's breakfast platter. Everything was tasty, and we managed to miss the breakfast rush.

As you may know, I am not a big rope drop person (I prefer to get to the parks right after rope drop) -- I hate crowds of people champing at the bit to get inside the parks, and that big rush to the rides reminds me of the running of the bulls. If I wanted to run with the bulls, I would go to Pamplona. :rotfl:

However, as Charles had hurried us along Monday morning, we somehow reached Epcot in time for rope drop. Luckily, it wasn't near as bad as some of the other rope drops I have witnessed. On the bus, we formulated our game plan. He and the kids headed left to ride Mission: Space while I would head right to get Fast Passes for Soarin'.

I have never seen so many people all surging in one direction as I did towards Soarin'! I took a deep breath and surged with them. I was convinced that with the lines for the FP machines being scads of people deep, we would have some insanely late return time, but I was pretty pleased that our Fast Pass return time ended up being around 10:30. So, having "run with the strollers" to Soarin' I was able to meander back towards Mission:Space to meet up with the rest of the family.

They were super excited and full of adrenaline when we met back up. Connor and Chelsea were full of stories, while Charles tried to catch his breath -- he "claims" his heart ticked weird during take-off. Yet another reason I will not ride that ride!

With time to kill before Soarin', we headed for Spaceship Earth. I love SSE and was looking forward to seeing the changes. The wait boards said 10 minutes which was ideal for us. Behind us in line was one of those families with a bossy dad and a harried looking mother. They had brought their stroller into the line, and everyone in line heard the dad fussing at the mom about what to do with it. :furious: I turned to Charles and said, "I love you." He just laughed at me because he knew why I was doing that -- sometimes you just realize how lucky you are to have who you have even if they do take too much Benedryl. ;)

Chelsea and I rode together, and Charles and Connor rode behind us. Unfortunately, SSE stopped like a gazillion times while we were on it. I am not kidding -- about six or seven times, I heard, "Our time travels have been temporarily interrupted. Please remain in your vehicle as it may start moving at any time." By the third stop, my palms were starting to sweat, and I wondered how I was going to get through the rest of the ride. My claustrophobia was starting to kick in. I am sure that Judi Dench does a lovely job narrating, and the changes are probably wonderful, but her speil was interrupted so many times, that I couldn't follow it much less focus on the new things.

However, by the time the descent started and "your future" is displayed for your viewing pleasure, the interruptions stopped. Chelsea and I giggled our way through our future, and I could hear Charles and Connor doing the same thing. Upon reaching the end, we noticed that the entire sidewalk/vehicles stop when a wheelchair-bound guest transfers -- I wonder if that was what caused the stops? I would have done so much better if I had known that during the ride!

Charles had to go to the bathroom after our thirty minute ride, so the kids and I amused ourselves taking pictures.

Because you can never have too many pictures of SSE:

Notice that Connor remembered his lanyard:

Chelsea "poses" -- something she does the entire trip:

It was time for our Soarin' Fast Passes, so we headed for the Land. Charles and I couldn't resist doing our "high five" impersonation of Putty while he was explaining safety features on the television. The CM asked if we minded being split up two and two. We were fine with that! Connor and I ended up on the FRONT row of Soarin'! Woo hoo!

This is my favorite ride at Epcot! I love the music, the smells, the sense of flight (with handy arm holds to grip because, don't forget, I am a chicken!). I wish I could have the music on my iPod!

Afterwards, we headed back towards Test Track to grab FPs for the afternoon and onward to World Showcase for lunch!

Excellent update!

Glad to see a chapter in which the WHOLE family is enjoying the World together.;)

Seriously, though, I'm glad Charles came out of the Benadryl coma and was able to have a normal day with everyone. Spaceship Earth would freak me out if I really thought about it, but I choose not to.:lmao:

But, I've had it stop too, and that would be a big fear for me with a three year old becuase that ride is soooooo long, and keeping him entertained during technical difficulties is not my idea of fun. :rotfl2:

I can't wait for you to head to the World Showcase!:goodvibes

May I also ask now that you're home, without revealing too much of your trip report, how did you like POFQ?

It's on my consideration list for next year.:thumbsup2

We were at EPCOT that same day.... it was such a nice day. Spaceship Earth.. that stinks stopping that much. Glad you rode more than two rides:thumbsup2

Reason #72 why I won't ride this ride. I have showed DF this comment because I don't want him to go on it either.

Those are the most adorable pics of your kids. :goodvibes

Great update Jackie... We got to Epcot that day too! Glad Charles was feeling better. Rope drop is definitly interesting with the hoards of people usually all going to the same place.. But you can get sooo much done!

I completely misjudged Epcot with time frames we didn't get to experience half of what I had hoped... Always next time right :)

looking forward to more..

I won't ride MS either because I swear that I'd have a claustrophobia attack, and I won't let my youngest son ride it as he has a (now) minor heart defect. Thus far, it is the only thing at Disney, that he was wanted to ride, that I won't let him ride. I had a moment or two of trepidation about Space Mountain, but decided it wasn't going to stress him anymore than his usual ninety-to-nothing running around. The kid is pure energy, I swear.
:hyper:
I get a little claustrophobic at times on SSE also. Near the beginning when it is dark and there is no air flow for a bit. I have to mentally "talk myself down" and remember to breathe slowly and relax my body. That always does the trick. Somehow I doubt this technique would work for MS.
:(
