The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Hey Jackie, we love Star Wars over here too. Of course me and DH grew up with it and DD's have no choice. We have been the geeks in line for the new installments on opening day. But there is nothing like the original trilogy. DH dresses like Darth Vader most Halloweens(although a MUCH shorter version as he is only 5'5" ish!!:smokin: ) complete with the talking mask and light saber I gave him for Fathers day one year!! O I will have to find a picture. My kids have played SW with the light up flashlight sabers you get at the fireworks in front of the castle.

How I wonder WHY, oh , WHY we got rid of all thos action figures that we played with as kids??!!!??? I dressed up as Leia ,complete with buns, for Mardi Gras one year and Chewy (those old plastic costumes with plastic mask) for Halloween. My favorite character was Chewy growing up!!

I love the pics with Vader.

BTW, have you ever seen "Chad Vader" on youtube- a goofy spoof with Vader as a grocery store manager. Go check it out! I found my DH giggling histerically while watching it once.

I will be living Disney thru your TR at this time as finances are squeezing tightly(if it ain't one thing ,it's another lately) and our semi planned trip we were hoping to squeeze in during free dining is not happening this year. Well, we just as well put it to the cruise anyway. Plus , like you said, I can't NOT go to WDW being so close to it next December. I may not have mentioned that we backed down to the 4 night DCL to be able to do a few days in WDW. You are right, it is hard to give up WDW, even for THIER own cruiseline!!!

DISCLAIMER: I am not really such a sweet wife. I had an ulterior motive. When I pulled the camera out to take pics of Chelsea and Connor on the bus, I noticed I had the wrong lens. It was the "I-can-see-into-your-living-room-from-five-city-blocks-away or the if-I-were-Jimmy-Stewart-in-Rear-Window-I-could-see-the-contents-of-your-murdered-wife's-handbag" zoom lens. I wanted the regular one. Also, I was worried that Charles in his comatose state would lose his wallet with his KTTW and debit cards. Ordinarily, I would have pinned a tag on him like Paddington Bear (Please look after this man) and hoped for the best ;).

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: Love your honesty!!! Here were a bunch of us thinking we're crummy wives, comparing ourselves to you... :lmao: Makes me feel better!! Good cover to go back for the lenses and protecting the cash!

you got your picture with Darth Vadar. You know he's related to Tink and I, right?:lmao:

He calls me every now and again. Says I should call him dad. I told him to stop breathing so heavy over the phone. It's so inappropriate.

:::coughcoughHARRISONFORDcoughcough:::;)

Have I ever complimented you on your subtelty? LOL

This made me feel validated. Sometimes I feel like the only person in the world (and the World) that has seen Rear Window.

Matter of fact, one of my favorite That 70's Show episodes is the Halloween one where they parody Rear Window with Fez.

I have to shout out to the Rear Window comment as well. I love this movie, it's such a classic and DF refuses to watch it with me. Mr. I watch Nightofthelivingzombiesatemymotherhouseof1,000corpsestexaschainsawmassacre. He won't watch a classic! To that I say...pffffffffft!

Trust me, you are NOT alone!! I LOVE Hitchcock--especially Rear Window!!! When we were Juniors in college, I made my DH--DBF at the time--take a 3 week Literature and film summer course with me that focused on nothing else except Hitchcock films! (I needed yet another Lit course since I was an English/Education major, and he needed one more lit class to complete his general studies requirements.) It was the BEST class!!! Every day, we would go in and watch and critique one of his films based upon literary elements, and obviously write papers about them like once a week. We both became so hooked on Hitchcock, and Rear Window was one of our favorites--gotta love Jimmy Stewart! Needless to say, I loved this class, and Tom, an Accounting/Business Management major, loved it as well. All his movies ARE SO GOOD!!! And BTW, love the shout out to another classic--'That 70s Show!' Good times, good times!!!

I saw it thanks to a Film class I took as an elective. We focused on film noir for the semester. Loved most of them...except Citizen Kane.

I think I made it about 5 minutes into that one before I started snoozin'.

Yes, I am ashamed to admit that I have yet to see that one! Tom and I have even been working on the AFI's Top 100 Movies of all time---we started at the bottom of the list, and every once in awhile, we will rent or check out a chunk of them from the library to watch. It has been a fun thing to do, and I will agree that many are REALLY good and deserve to be there--some we question quite a bit. But ANYWAY, Citizen Kane is on the top of the list, so we have yet to reach it--one day I am sure!

I have been wanting to tackle that list, I think it's a great idea!

Thank you! Yes, Harrison Ford is my actor's equivalent of a No Way Jose!
Jackie I think that's one of the best analogies I've ever read!:lmao:

You would think if he really wanted us to come over to the dark side he could at least get down proper phone etiquette.

Have I ever complimented you on your subtelty? LOL
Not sure. Was that too obvious?;)

Lori

I love all your Star Wars memories!!! Connor's first movie was Episode 2 -- Empire Strikes Back is my comfort movie -- I can watch that over and over!

I'll have to go check out Chad Vader -- it sounds hilarious.

So you get the cruise and the WDW vacation? That's awesome!

See, I couldn't have y'all thinking that! ;)

I am sure it's an asthma problem!!! :lmao:

I also like the Simpsons parody of it when Bart breaks his leg...:rotfl:

This had me cracking up!!! DED!!!

I am a HUGE Hitchcock fan!!! I use Rebecca and Rear Window in my 8th grade classes to teach film criticism. It jigsaws nicely with the Poe unit I do right before it. (And it's during October).

Funny Connor story: one day we were pulling into school and there was a HUGE flock of black birds flying overhead. Connor says, "That is so creepy! I just had a great idea for a story where birds attack a town." I tried to stop laughing long enough to tell him, "It is a great idea, but somebody already beat you to it."

I've never seen Citizen Kane, either. :(

That is a great idea -- it would be tons of fun to make our way through the list -- if I could ever pull Charles off the computer for long enough to watch a movie.

Jackie I think that's one of the best analogies I've ever read!:lmao:

:goodvibes

:rotfl2:

I love Rear Window too!

I am a big, big, big Grace Kelly fan -- I so wanted (heck, still want) her clothes in that movie. And her sophistication...

Soo.... my laptop's screen is caputz (sp?) so I am limited on my computer time now....but just wanted to put my two cents in here--

I LOVE REAR WINDOW! And crows. And Hitchcock in general. :thumbsup2

Yes, definitely interested in hearing more about Puzzle Pirates!

Isn't that crazy that we were so close!?

I didn't catch what he was saying, what was it?

Ok I'll PM you on both counts. I just posted about it on my report.

Well, I have spent my computer time the past two days reading your entire PTR, and I have loved:lovestruc every minute of it! I am attempting my own, but noone seems to be reading.....maybe I will have to try typing it in BOLD Hot Pink!! Seems to have worked for you! (or maybe I need to learn to write?):rotfl2:

Your family is beautiful! Your dd is the spitting image of you it seems, and brains to boot it sounds like! DS appears to look like your DH, cute as can be! I don't have any kids that look like me.....they all look like DH! How did that happen?

Can't wait for more installments!popcorn:: I am living vicariously!

Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! I can't believe you read all of it but so pleased that you did and enjoyed it!

I went over to your PTR and I think it is terrific! Don't give up -- if you write it, they will come!

Thanks for all the compliments -- it's funny how kids end up looking like one or the other of the parents!

I said I would be back for the tr and I am.

Great report so far.

Love the pic with Vader.

We are doing it next year and I cannot wait.

Looking forward to more.

YEAH UPDATE DAY!!!!!!

BTW Jackie, I totally am right there with you on your admiration of Grace Kelly--she was stunning and such a style icon!! My sis, once dressed up and made up, looks a LOT like her. SO UNFAIR! (I know it is probably really hard to imagine that from the car coma picture from my TR.) She looked so much like her on her wedding day--I'll try to post a pic of her from then if I can! Can't wait for today's update!!!
