Speaking of internet.... do you still use a desktop computer?

I like to do my bill accounts, etc. on my desktop. I really can't see that changing. If this desktop dies, I want another one. I'm old and set in my ways. I like sitting at a desk with my big monitor, sometimes two, and my keyboard. I have a comfy desk chair, a view, and basically an office set up with everything I could need.

I have a phone, I have a Chromebook, I just like to sit at my desk to take care of "business" and mainly use my phone or Chromebook for talking on the phone, reading, scrolling the internet, finding directions, and the rare times I HAVE to do business type stuff while away from home. (I sold a home while on vacation a few years back so I certainly am capable of doing everything on my phone, but I just don't want to.) I generally try to keep the number of apps I keep on my phone down and go through the websites on my computer for things like banking, bills, etc. if I'm home. I was just home trying to look up something on my phone bill. I can't see usage from the current bill online, only past bills. I asked the chat bot and it said I had to have the app to see anything current. ARRGGH.

Am I the only one who still likes to use websites online at home on my desktop?

Nope, not the only one, I primarily use websites at home on my desktop PC. Works great and see no reason to change as long as it keeps working. What tends to happen after several years is the operating system is no longer supported and/or newer sites don't work as well. I tried to update the operating system several years ago on a prior computer and will NEVER do that again. Update was successful, but I could no longer access email and lost various other files/applications that were previously on that PC. Newer versions of operating systems just add new/different features I don't need or they simply change the look/feel of the computer.

If you need something to be portable to use when on vacation or away from home, then a laptop PC is the way to go. Almost never use my phone to access the internet since the screen is too small, typing is a challenge, buttons hard to find/use and/or the formatting gets all jumbled when the website is primarily formatted for use on a PC.

I don't get the whole app thing since it just seems like a standalone version of their website. The only apps I use are for something like airline flights/rental cars/hotels when on vacation. I can display the boarding pass or check-in for the return flight when out of town or access rental car info. If I don't frequently fly on a certain airline, I delete their app once back home from vacation. I only have the absolute minimum number of apps on my phone since it just mostly seems like another way for them to gather up email addresses to sell to 3rd parties to send you more advertisement/junk emails.............nope not interested.

My bank has a phone app I have never bothered to download. As far as I know, all of the same functions are available on their website. I only do online banking at home. Since I carry my phone in public where it might get lost/stolen, I do NOT want it to be a single point source of so much personal information.

I use a desktop. I like to build a gaming rig, so it kind of has to be. It's getting about time for some upgrades too. For work, the give us laptops only, but we have docking stations for our desks and at home.

Yes... we have an old Mac Mini in the basement.... it is hooked up the tv down there. It is used as a streaming device for the most part.

I only have a laptop. Much easier to use as opposed to a towering desktop. Easy to carry around especially to my classes.

I am mainly a PC gamer, so yes. I do have a laptop which I take with me when I'm away but I use my desktop when I am at home.

Just a laptop for me (work laptop) and a docking station at home and in the office. When I retire, I’ll probably buy an iPad or maybe a laptop. I do a lot of things on my phone though.

I use a desktop too. I will grab my iPad for quick internet searches or check email, but when I want to look more in-depth for items online I go to my iMac. Same with bills, do them on my iMac.

I just got a new desktop last month. I decided to upgrade since Windows 10 will not be supported after Oct 10th.

I have a laptop and a phone. I don't know if I'll ever get rid of the laptop. It's just way more comfortable for me to really dig into hard stuff and the DIS does not work well on my phone even though every other site I visit does!

Long ago we used an Apple desktop. We replaced it with an Apple laptop that I seldom use. My husband still has a PC that he uses for certain Microsoft software products. My iPad plus the Apple Magic Keyboard is all I need.

We have a laptop but it’s sooo old it’s useless. I use a laptop set-up with a docking station, monitor and full-size keyboard. I hate phone apps.

One of the things I hate about my long camping trips is that I only use my phone for the internet. I use my laptop at home and hate using my phone like I do. I'm considering getting better internet access for camping and using my laptop while camping like I do at home. I like using the keyboard and being able to see the screen easier so that will more than likely be my next major purchase.

I couldn't do without my desktop ... I'm on it right now. When I need to get serious, I sit at my desk and do my "work" - paying bills, researching new trips, etc. I'm old and set in my ways, too!

I still like my desktop. I guess I'm old, back when typing was actually a class in HS. So I find it much more comfortable than trying to type on my phone. Dh likes his laptop but I prefer a real mouse.
A few years ago, he bought me a 32" curved Samsung monitor. I told him it's too big. He said don't worry; you'll get used to it.
Well, I did. I love that it's huge and so easy to see pictures. I only use my phone when I'm on the train to/from work or when we're travelling. I hope they don't become obsolete.
