The Purple Box???

We only have 1 locker but BOY OH BOY do I love that sucker!! My list has about 120 or 125 things on it... I just wish John could have it meet us in HHI this summer and that he could figure out a way to send it on the Magic to do the MED cruises next summer!!

I have a little space next to each item on my inventory list where I keep a count of what's left on things as I pack it up on our last night and I have a place to note expiration dates on things that are dated. For example, I know on my next trip down that I need to replenish our Aleve, Q-tips and band-aids. DS had a cold last week so we used all the Advil Cold meds and both packs of purse size tissues that we had in it, we disposed of 3 of the little cheapy disposable ponchos that we used on Kali River 'cuz it was cool that day. Our batteries that are stored in it are dtd. for 2015, we have an SPF 15 sunscreen that is good until 12/11, 1 SPF 30 sunscreen that expires 10/11 and 1 that expires 1/12 and we have 16 paper plates left....ETC, ETC. I also store Captain Morgan, plastic cups & straws for the pool, collapsible coolers & a beach/pool bag which get used a lot too. OH, and I agree that the scissors are one of THE most used items in the locker!! :thumbsup2

Last summer we had our locker delivered to BCV then we took it to Vero Beach for a little road trip. Brian met us at MCO to pick it up when we left.:thumbsup2 FANTASTIC service!!

Owners Locker = awesome.

We recently went to Disneyland and were lost without our purple box.

You will not regret using them.

FYI, if you need to cut a zip tie off that can't be pulled off like the ones on the OL, you can use a nail clipper. Those are allowed in your carry on.

I am so excited - I just ordered an OL. I am really looking forward to collecting and shopping for the things I want to keep in there! I am a junkie and I haven't even seen the box yet!!

Welcome to the Purple Box Flock! :goodvibes

What I want to know is when someone is going to make a little purple Locker emoticon for use on the DIS!

So I'm guessing you can hold so much stuff so you never forget it. We wrote down items we would leave for all 3 of us and we only got to 20-25 items:confused3 Maybe we need to enjoy DVC and see what more we could use/bring. Thank you everyone for all of the great information on the purple box.

I think you really have to get a trip using it under your belt before you start to really appreciate what it can do for you. Plus once you experience the comfort and homey feel of DVC accommodations, you start expanding your ideas of what will make your vacation feel like a home away from home. For me it's little things like an inflatable pillow to use in the jacuzzi, or magnetic clips to put on the fridge to hold park schedules, or a box of crayons for rainy afternoons or the scrapbook that we record our impressions and memories of each trip in. Our Lockers mean never running to the store for a forgotten cell phone charger, never paying $2 for a dose of aspirin, never having to check a bag if we don't want to.

I'll jump in here as another OL groupie and say yes, yes, yes! OL's are the best, and John & Brian's service is by far the best customer service I've ever experienced - they just really understand what it's all about and do everything they can to make it all right for you their livelihood.

I agree with Tara - you do need to experience it first, and then you'll really start to understand and appreciate what they can do/mean for your vacations. We have 2 and absolutely love them. DW was a skeptic at first, but after that first trip with them, and then another and another...she was hooked. Like Tara we'll probably end up with a 3rd - but we're not quite there...yet. Our list is very much like Tara's, without the clothing items. There's just so much that you use without even thinking about it on a regular basis - and having it there on vacation with you just really makes that home away from home location feel very much like you are at home. Think you forgot something - no worries, it's right there in your locker, just waiting for you to need it. And I will definitely second when Tara said you just never know how many times you'll use those scissors on vacation. Very, very often.

We've started a running list of items to add to our existing lockers on our next visit - and by then (Fall), we very well might need a 3rd one... we'll see. It's amazing how in the every day course of life now either DW or I will stop and say - "we need to add this (so and so) to our OL list..."

Exactly! It's my feather pillow, my framed pics of kids and grandkids + magnetic pics of them for the fridge to give our villa that homey feel!

ONLY 20-25 things? You will find there are a great deal more things that you will pack each & every trip. Everything from sunscreens to razors to backpacks to spray fan bottles to mini umbrellas to flip flops to lanyards to ponchos to OTC meds to pool/dive toys & goggles. Seriously, you need to keep a list of everything you pack on your next trip. We just went for 6 nights and used carry-ons only because all I had to pack was clothes. No toiletries, no ponchos or umbrellas, no sunscreens (which would have to be checked if full size). When we checked in the guy at the front desk was peering over looking for our luggage and I was like this is it! He said he RARELY sees that for more than just a weekend stay. Thanks to Owners Locker I feel like I set a new record!! And I know DH was happy we didn't have to schlep a bunch of luggage - saved on bell & bus driver tips too!! :rotfl:

My DH was one who balked at the whole OL thing to begin with. He thought it was an avoidable expense. Once the airlines all started charging for luggage, he changed his tune, and now he's a HUGE supporter! I may even have him talked into a second locker!

You would be amazed at the number of items are really in there. We keep a detailed items list on his Blackberry that goes with us and gets checked and updated as we pack the OL back up before we return home. When we get home, we print the list out and I put it with my DVC guide so I can double check it as I pack when the next trip comes along. Suffice it to say it prints out to two pages!!!

We find we really end up only packing mostly clothes and a few meds and cosmetics when it's time to pack for a trip. We have taken stuff out and taken it home occationally, because we found we weren't using it, and why have it take up valuable space in the OL? You'll LOVE it!!!:thumbsup2

Jumping on board here. We have one locker and just absolutely love it! How did we ever vacation before without it? :confused3 Plus, when you open it up and see all your stuff you left down there, it is like a coming home party! :goodvibes In fact, we are thinking about a second one. DH wants to be able to just jump on a plane and have everything he needs down there so he doesn't need a carry on or anything.

I do have one question for anyone who can answer: I see where they have met you at MCO to deliver your locker, then you go on a cruise or other destinations. For cruising do you just tag it like a piece of luggage to go to your room and leave it with the rest of your luggage? We are going on the DVC Members cruise in September and will be getting our locker and would love to take it with on the cruise, so we were just wondering how it is handled.

Thank you for any advice/information on taking your locker cruising with you! :flower3:

Add us to the OL fan club. We've had ours for over 3 years now and love it. While I carry much of same stuff as everyone else (small first air kit, Toiletries, Laundry items, DH extra pair of sneakers, power stip (for all those electronic devises, extension cords) we really like it because it stores for us 2 NICE wine glasses, my quart of gin (which does last for at least 3-5 trips) and leftover CC (DH - Usually only last 1-2 trips:rotfl:) and any bottles of wine that we may have bought but didn't get a chance to drink. Packing the liquid refreshments was always worry factor before OL

Yes, you tag them like your luggage. After we receive our lockers at MCO, we put the sticky luggage tags that DCL sends on them. I usually put two on each from the front side over the top of the lid so that they are visible from both the top and the side. They go on the coach with you to the port and then they will be magically transported to your cabin. If you are leaving from a resort, Bell Services will take them in the morning to be sent to the ship. Again, the tags need to be on them. We have taken them on three cruises so far and not had any problems. Easy as pie!

My DH didn't necessarily balk, but we was skeptical about the whole idea. Now he's a firm believer, too. Every once in a while he'll say "hey, do I have X in a Locker?" or "let's add X." I asked him last night what he'd say to someone considering getting a Locker and he said, "Do it - it's like DVC, your only regret will be that you didn't do it sooner!" :thumbsup2

Owner's locker.. we just recently signed up... my wife LOVES IT!!!

OK! You have all sold me on the OL concept! :worship: I went out to their web site and realized that if I were going to WDW once or twice a year with children, this would be absolutely ideal. For two people, I'm still not convinced I'd get the ROI -- although a previous posting of storing the gin, the nice wine glasses.............maybe...... :rotfl:
