We had already decided that we were going to have a lie in after MNSSHP. However, having been complete wooses and retired to bed early the night before, we were up quite early. So we decided that today would be laundry day! By 9am we had worked out where the (free!) machines were at BLT and had deposited our dirty (ie slightly sweaty as women, we dont really sweat we just glow!) clothes in the washing machine. In the 30 minutes (why is it not as quick in the UK?) machines, we decided to hang out at the BLT pool in the relative cool of the day.
We noticed something strange going on as there were cameras, make up artists and very perfect looking people hanging about by the pool. A few questions later, we were told that they were filming an advert for BLT DVC and that we were very welcome to swim in the pool and be part of the action hey what? Did they really think I could compete with those perfect people with my cellulite?? Part of me wanted to be part of eternity and be one of the real DVCers in the photos but most of me was screaming to keep as far away as possible!! My screaming voice won the day and we sat on the chairs at the side observing the action! When the cameras packed up and all the perfect people left, Kate and I ventured in to the pool and enjoyed the very speedy flume ride and paddling round the pool as well as sampling the (hot too hot, Jacuzzi!).
After collecting our laundry (dried in another 30 minutes it takes me twice as long to do this all in the UK!) and depositing it back in our room, we headed off to EPCOT by monorail and to World Showcase. We went to the American Adventure show I love the fact that Americans are so patriotic! before trying a funnel cake which we couldnt finish between the two of us!
We then visited the Japan shop before moving on to France where we were accosted by one of the perfume sellers, who was very good at her job (except we didnt want to but any perfume!). We then went on to Canada to watch the fantastic film there. I spent 4 years living in Canada as a child and feel a huge affinity to this wonderful country and this film really does do it justice. However, its a standing film and those who get a bit motion sick (or are a bit anxious about getting motion sick aka Kate) could be put off. Kate says she spent most of the film with her eyes shut which was a shame!
We then went to the UK where we watched the UK world showcase players (Sir Galahad and the Knights of the Round Table) in which they instilled excellent audience participation. I had watched the same show the year before (on our 25th wedding anniversary trip) with exactly the same people doing the show I was very impressed that they managed to keep the show fresh and almost as though they were performing it for the first time. We then sat and watched the first couple of numbers from Off Kilter in Canada which were great but the extreme heat made us decide that we had had enough and we decided to leave the park.
We went back to BLT for a bit of a rest (and a beer by the pool in my case!). We had decided that at least once this trip we would try and escape the confines of Disney property so we took a bus to DTD and walked (a bit longer than we had anticipated about 25 minutes!) to Sweet Tomatoes, a new restaurant at the Crossroads complex. We have tried this chain at another location on previous trips and loved the fact that for one price you can have as much vegetable type food as you want. By this point in the holiday, we were craving vegetables and it was a lovely change to fill up on this type of food (shame Kate wasnt feeling that hungry!).
We had a look round Goodings. From our previous trips, we remember a reasonably large (but fairly overpriced) food store with a good selection of American food (we are fascinated by what Americans eat they seem to have so much more choice than Tescos or Sainsburys!). We were seriously disappointed this time it seems to be much more run down than we remembered with even more outrageous prices and poor selection of food - surely, it cant be long before this store fails there seemed to be not a lot to buy? It also seems that high prices mean that people dont come which means they increase the price of what they have to sell even more which means even less custom. Surely, if they DECREASE their prices, the store would fill with people and they would sell more?? Hey Im only a psychologist what do I know?
After walking back to DTD and a bit of a look around the shops, we took a bus back to BLT and were soon in the land of nod!
