Hey Everyone!

This is my FIRST EVER PTR and I hope it will be as entertaining for your to read as it is for me to write. My Prince (my boyfriend) and I are returning to Disney this October. It will be our third trip to Disney together as a couple. Now, I will jump right down to business:

Who's going to Disney?

Me: I'm 29 years old and I am an international tax associate for a multi-national corporation. By that description you can probably guess how boring my job is and that having an upcoming trip to look forward to is much more exciting!

DBF/The Prince: He is 29 years old and is currently working at a law firm as a law clerk.

Our Disney' Fav's (I "borrowed" this idea from another poster ;))

The Princess:
Favorite Movie: The Little Mermaid
Favorite Character: Tigger
Favorite Ride: Haunted Mansion
Favorite Park: Animal Kingdom
Favorite Snack: Ice cream sandwich from Main Street Bakery
Favorite Restaurant: Kouzzina

The Prince:
Movie: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Character: Mad Hatter or Donald Duck
Ride: Haunted Mansion
Park: Magic Kingdom
Snack: Ice Cream sandwhich
Restaurant: Kouzzina

The Prince and I met close to four years ago in a horrible place that is called law school. We started dating during our 2nd semester and have taken 2 trips to Disney during our breaks from school since we met. (I plan on posting brief trip reports for each visit within this pre-trip report). We both graduated from law school this past December and I have been dying to plan a vacation since we were done studying for the bar exams (which was one of the most stressful times in our lives). However, I don't think DBF was ready to celebrate until he got his results. A few weeks ago we found out we passed the NY & NJ bar exams!! :cheer2: Soon enough, we will officially be attorneys! Now that it is time to celebrate, what a better place than Disney! :yay:

to be continued....

Congrats on starting your first PTR. I am sure it will be very entertaining, you have started off very well.

Ocotober at WDW sounds like a lot of fun. Weather will not be so hot, you have Food and Wine Festival, and Mickey's Not So Scary Holloween Party. So much to do beyond just playing at the parks. Can't wait to hear more of your plans. :thumbsup2

I see you are planning on staying at POFQ. I stayed there in March and really fell in love with the Resort. I had a cornor room with a King size bed and it was so nice. If you like the idea of having two windows in your room try to request a cornor room. Preferably one not over looking the stairs.

Great job so far, can't wait to read more.popcorn::

The Prince and Princess will be returning to the Kingdom Wednesday, October 3, 2012 – Tuesday, October 9, 2012.

We will be staying at POFQ this year. This is the first time we will be staying at this resort and I hope to love it as much as I love POR.

During our first trip to Disney (the week before Christmas of 2009), we stayed at POR and we had the DxDDP. We loved this resort! Our favorite thing about POR is the boat to Downtown Disney. It gets you there in a jiffy. (I am also a fan of boats in general ☺ ) The resort was very quiet and we enjoyed the brisk walk from our hotel room to the main dining hall where we would fill out refillable mugs before getting on a bus to the parks. The bus rides were not long at all, but were longer than normal because it was the week before Christmas. (I will be posting a brief trip report and photos at a later time.)

During our second trip to Disney in October of 2010 we stayed offsite at my father’s time share. The resort was beautiful. The Prince is a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so the focus of this trip was to check out Potter world at IOA , attend Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) and also attend F&W @ Epcot. We rented a car to travel to all the parks. We stocked up on food, drinks, and snacks at Walmart (the Orlando Walmart btw is the biggest Walmart I have ever seen in my entire life!).

The highlights of this trip were definitely HHN & F&W. DBF & I are HUGE fans of Halloween. I go buck nutty when it comes to Halloween decorations. I am known for throwing some of the best Halloween parties around—costumes required of course.

If you are a fan of Haunted houses I HIGHLY recommend a trip to HHN. I will be posting pics from my prior trips later on so you can get an idea of all the fun we had!

F&W is SO MUCH FUN!! This was our first trip to F&W and we LOVED it, and vowed to make it an annual tradition. However, we felt something was missing this trip…we felt our trip was a little less magical than the last time…and it boiled down to the fact that we stayed off property. Although we saved a bundle at my dad’s timeshare (it was free for us!), going forward we plan to always stay on Disney property.

Before I booked our stay at POFQ, I tried to rent DVC points for our stay for the AKV/Savannah View/Club level but was unsuccessful. I figured DVC points would be the way to go, considering we are (poor) recent graduates, and that would be the only way we could afford deluxe hotel accommodations. I had no idea these rooms would book up so fast and apparently trying to secure a ressie in late April for Columbus Day weekend was a lost cause. Now, I have learned that you need to book these rooms 11 months in advance. So I guess I will be booking next year’s trip soon after returning from this year’s trip!

I wanted to stay at a Deluxe hotel because I wanted this trip to be special considering we will be celebrating lots of changes in our lives that occurred over the past year—the end of law school, passing the bar and turning 30 (yikes!). All of these things will be happening prior to our trip, but because I am international tax I am the busiest at work in June and July and can’t take off work. Plus we have 7 weddings to attend between May and September! Throw in some bridal showers, bachelorette & bachelor parties in to the mix and there goes all of our free weekends.

But, besides the wedding hullabaloo, WE LOVE FOOD AND WINE! The Prince and I are huge foodies! I am obsessed with Food Network and we watch all those crazy cooking and baking competition shows together---Iron Chef, Master Chef, Cupcake Wars…you name it, we probably watch it lol. When we attended F&W in 2010, we were not on the dining plan (because we stayed my dad’s timeshare). We were amazed that you can use snack credits for almost anything at the booths! This led us to upgrade to the DxDDP for this trip too. One snack/day is not enough considering I am planning a whole day of drinking/eating around the world.

More to come….

It's been a while, but I have been a busy little bee. I just finished my busy season at work and now I will have more time to write.

I made this handy ADR Schedule (...i got the idea from an old disboards post ;) :
