The price of stamps is going up....

Glad I bought a roll of 100 Forever stamps. I put the date on the roll because I want to know how long it will take to use them. I got them 2 years ago tomorrow, and looks like I have most of a roll left. I used two last week. On for my brother's birthday card, and one for my Pest Control Company which has no electronic payment option.

I missed stocking up before the last price increase.

It was a coincidence that I ordered 4 100 coils for the office i manage yesterday and then saw the news of an expected increase again.

I may purchase a few more coils of forever stamps before the new price increase.

I use 3-4 stamps a year. I have no idea what postage costs.

I do receive lots of packages, though very few via USPS.

I have no idea of the current price of a standard stamp or what the new price will be. I still have a roll of forever stamps from like 8 years ago, and I forgot what price they were then.

I mailed something once this year. Prior to that I couldn't tell you when the last time was I mailed something.

Almost all my packages now are delivered by USPS,. they all seem to have been delivered to my Post Office by both FedEX and UPS. But USPS handles final delivery. I don't know how that is determined, because now that I am retired and home, I see that there are UPS and FedEx trucks on my street at least twice a day, and seems like the Amazon vans are on my street every couple of hours from 6 am until 8 pm. Only constant is my mail order pharmacy uses USPS exclusively.

It looks like First Class mail peaked in the year 2001.

https://about.usps.com/who/profile/history/first-class-mail-since-1926.htm

Volume is down over 52% since the peak, at around a 1972 volume level.

We are not the only ones who rarely use USPS First Class Mail.
First class doesn't even exist now. It's rebranded as Ground Advantage.

Priority Mail is their bread and butter. HUGE business for them since the advent of Ebay, Etsy and the like. I ship 3 Priority Mail packages this morning.

First Class Mail still exists. If you put a stamp on a letter, that is First Class Mail.

First Class Packages no longer exists and is what was rebranded.

Parcel delivery is probably still growing, though it did dip in 2022.

I probably should go ahead and buy some more Forever Stamps before the increase. We still send quite a few Christmas/birthday/thank you cards, so I probably use 100-150 stamps/year.

:faint:
That is all I gotta say about this

Not sure what the price is going up to, couldn't read the article in the OP without subscribing. I needed a postcard stamp this morning, was surprised they are up to 51¢. Then I bought a sheet of the new RBG stamps, 66¢ each is the going price now. I still have some with Mr Rogers on them, still have some Harry Potter stamps, some flower ones designed by my cousin's DIL, some with winter birds, some sharks, we rarely use stamps.
