The Possibility of Being Picked........

It is all random, HOWEVER, I cant recall how many countless times I have read it here on the boards that if you look like your having a blast, you just might get a magical moment. I remember last time DH and I went down, and since it was his 1st time and he's from TN. well he bascially talked to EVERYONE. Guests and CM. He's a big talker. Once he starts, its hard to get him to stop, so hopefully he will continue to do so, and me I will look like Im walking on :cloud9: the whole time, so we might have a good chance on getting at least a magical moment. Just relax and have a good time. Even if you dont win anything, like I said you might get a magical moment. Even if you get nothing, at least you get to say you went to WDW.

Ha! I should have no trouble then! ;) I basically well up the moment I pull into the car park of the resort and gush at every CM from then on in about how happy I am to be there! ;) I think once we were checking into ASMo and I was wiping away tears and the CM was quite bemused! :yay:

I am glad I am not the only one that wipes away tears at Disney! I was wiping them away on the Magical Express ride back to the airport! They play that darn movie and it gets me every time!

That's how I am!! As soon as the disney bus starts to pull up to Magic Kingdom I so excited...I never know if I'm going to giggle uncontrollably or just start crying. :cloud9:

My family and I won Dream Fastpasses at the MK on July 2. We arrived for rope drop and went to SM to get FPs and then ride in the stand by line. We decided to go to the left at the loading area since we have been doing the right side lately and wanted to try the other. At the unload area I heard a commotion while I was getting out of the car looked up and found a CM handing out Dream FPs. Everyone was so excited that we and another family took each others photos wearing them. I suppose if we'd chosen to go right we would have missed out. Guess we'll never know. ;)

Not only can adults win, but one adult alone...I went to Epcot for rope drop by myself a couple of weeks ago and won a Dream Fastpass for being in the right place at the right time. With DH, we got a Magical Moment ("dream parking" at AK), which I'm guessing was also given out randomly. We also once received FPs from a CM for a ride where standby was an hour because he liked my hat...again, it was just us adults. For some of the magical moments they might tend to pick kids, but that doesn't mean the "big kids" are entirely ruled out.

Just wanted to agree with you! My 20 year old and I just love the table service in Morocco and had made our way over for lunch one day. I was feeling all chatty and told the guy there how it was our favorite place in the whole WORLD and how happy we were to finally be there...I looked down at our free baklava on the tray he handed me! I know, not a big deal, but it was a nice treat! I figured he was probably allowed to hand out a few freebies each day and chose us for our pure excitement at being in his restaurant! :goodvibes

That's funny!! I don't even have to be at Disney to wipe away tears. Just the thought of going to Disneyworld gets me going!!!

I agree with all the other posts, it is absolutely random, except certain magical moments (backstage to a ride, some stickers or small stuff). If any want to see the dream team in action, go to my post where I have a link to a funny video of my family trying to win a dream.

You can see the dream squad in action.

I got a great laugh this morning watching your video. It was funny watching you and your family on the mission. I also liked the code word, "blueberry" not to mention your reaction at the end of rides when the dream team wasn't there.

Watching your video also let me know what to look for. We went for a week long vacation back in April that ended up being cut to a 3 1/2 day vacation because I got so sick. And even then we only spent 2 1/2 days in the parks because the last day we were trying to figure out what to do and decided going home to see my doctors would be best because it wasn't worth it to stay sick at Disney. We're doing a makeup trip in October and hopefully it'll be way better than April not to mention I hope we get some Dreams granted before the YOAMD is over.

Then why do they ask you to sign up and mail in your name, address age, phone # etc. and send it to Year of A Million Dreams to Illinois?
That is what has me puzzled.

What did you sign up to? Theres nothing to sign up to, to win at the parks.

The mail-in drawings give you the chance to win prizes at home, without having to visit a Disney park. They have nothing to do with winning at the parks themselves. To win at the parks, you simply have to be in the right place at the right time. :)

Thank so much for clearing that up for me. I definetly was confused about that. Thanks!!

:wizard: We were in WDW last August and never saw the "dream squad" or anyone winning anything....we'll be down again this August and hopefully we'll at least see someone's dream coming true!!!

We've been to Disney World three times and Disneyland three times since the Year of a Million Dreams celebration and haven't seen or got anything! And we even have annual passes! We don't think it really exists! We are mostly adults, but in December we had my nephews who are young and nothing. Going again in December and I am not holding my breath!

The power of belief is a great tool. If you think you are going to win then you are going to. I gave out glowsticks to some kids and a CM saw me spread some pixie dust and I ended up with a fast pass. Also be really nice to others and good things will happen.

You're right we hope we'll win every year. We are the kind of adults that are as excited as the kids to be there! I would love to get a dream fast pass!

We won right after sitting down on TGMR around 1030am on 9/9 (our whole double car won) dream fastpasses

I thought we'd have a good shot last year because there were 12 of us in our group, mostly family and one night almost everyone had Santa Mickey (or other characters) hats on. I don't think I have actually seen a Dream Team. What I wonder is what the next "event" will be once they end the Year of a Million Dreams?

Honestly, I would caution against that. I've seen a number of posts from people who expected to get something and didn't get anything, and they were very disappointed.

I agree with Epcot Girl. Don't set yourself up for a big disappointment. While kindness to others might earn you a magical moment, the prizes are completely random and the odds are as tiny as most other sweepstakes. Think of all the rides and locations you could possibly be, both in the parks and DTD...it's astronomical! Even tho' I've won three times now, I live by WDW and visit very, very frequently so if you add all the times I did not win, nor didn't even see the Dream Team, you get a better idea of the odds. While positive thinking is good, you have to be realistic about the fact that this is a contest and very few people do end up winning contests. Then, if you DO win, it's all the more exciting.
