The Positive Thread..Going to WDW in 3 days!

For all of you out there who still love the World and can't wait for your next trip, I'm starting this thread to help fuel my excitement for our trip. We are going to AKKV on Wed for a long weekend. We have our MBs, FP+, and even a FP+ ticket for lunch at BOG. I used to come on the DISboards to get tips and trips for the various attractions and to keep up to date on the latest goings on at the World. Now, many threads seem to be about how crowded it is, how people hate MBs, how the FP+ system is bad. To tell you the truth, I'm all for a little positive energy at this point. So, looking for people to post here any info they have about the goings on at the World right now. What should I make sure not to miss? I've been to WDW over 30 times so am very familiar with the favorite rides and restaurants. Looking for things like: - Are there current treats or booths at the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival that I should check out? - Are there new characters or treats elsewhere? [ Not interested in hearing how long the lines are for Anna and Elsa ] - What was your favorite moment in the past few months when you visited? No negativism allowed on this thread. I'm so excited to be in the happiest place on earth. :cool1::cool1:

Favorite moment was when my daughter and I stopped in a shop in the Mexico pavilion and watched a man make a blown glass dragon. It was exquisite. I'm so glad we stopped and took the time. :)

OP I am seriously jealous ! Cannot go again until April/2015 :headache: I know you'll have a great time !! DW and I were there twice last year and those memories are going to have to tied me over for now........unless you come back and give us a trip report after :woohoo:
By the way we used MB's and FP+ in Dec and both were flawless for us :)

When you are in Epcot spend some time to really enjoy the topiaries and all the flowers. Children enjoy having their pictures taken by them. I sometimes sit on a bench enjoying the beautiful view and all I see are people zooming by. Smell the roses as they say ;)

My family and I just came back from a 5 night stay at DW and had a wonderful time. The FP+ system caused us to schedule our days quite a bit but an unintended consequence was spending less time in stores.

Be Our Guest was fantastic. I was able to do dinner one night and FP the lunch on a different day. Both were welcome havens from the crowds of Fantasyland. I think my wife thought these two experiences were the best of the trip

Of course the highlight was meeting Anna & Elsa. Thanks to the encouragement of this board, I was able to snag an 8:30 am breakfast 3 days before my trip (after a month of being unable to get one). Persistence paid off!

I thought we did everything we wanted to do this trip and I find myself ready to plan for the next one.

Have fun!

My big boy and I are going on a mommy and me trip. He's the coolest guy ever and I can't wait to have him all to myself!! Next year I'll do the same thing for his little brother and the year after that, I'll take my youngest DD.

This sounds very special! What a great idea. :thumbsup2

I have no idea how crazy the crowds will be, how my fps will work or if our youngest will make the 40 in height requirement but I am excited to be there and just laugh and enjoy each other! :goodvibes

In looking at the crowd calendars, next week seems to be a low week. However, I do expect EPCOT to be full. I'm not worried about it though since we already have our FP+ times picked.

Nice! Thanks for the tip!

Stopping and enjoying the beauty of the festival is what it's all about!

I can't wait to see the inside of BOG!

Thanks everyone for the tips! I am getting so excited. Keep the ideas and good vibes flowing! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Love this thread :goodvibes We were there in February and LOVED the Magic Bands. Can't wait to go back in July

By the way, I did end up cancelling my ressie at EPCOT for the day we are going to be doing the F&G Festival. We would rather just eat at the booths given all the great suggestions! We can eat in the restaurants any time.

What a fantastic thread! :) thank you for beginning it and bringing some Disney Joy to us all today :pixiedust: I hope that you have an amazing time, and I'm sure karma will smile on you for bringing smiles to others :)

We are going in May. Our second trip ever and last for a long time. I am SO looking forward to it - so much to fit in! We will have the new parade, the mine train, the end of flower and garden at Epcot and Star Wars at DHS. I am super excited to learn we will catch there 24 hour party at MK and although we will only be there for the morning before hoping over to Star Wars weekend, I am desperately trying to think of costumes we can wear! Not all of the family are so keen as I am lol, but can probably be persuaded!

I am going June 5-11 for Trip #4 with my DD18 who is graduating in May and my newborn son who will be 5 months and staying at AoA in a Little Mermaid room for the first time. We have DXDP and have all of our reservations made including dinner at BoG!!

In the past, we have made some rope drops but not every day. We were able to ride TSMM on trip 2 in 2009 when it first opened but only once. Now, I'm able to make a FP+ res for it. I don't ride very much at HS but my daughter will. I have friends from FL who will join us and ride all the rides with her too. She doesn't mind single rider on RnRC however and rides it several times back to back. We have now gotten to the point that if we don't get to ride a particular ride, even our favorite because I missed riding Splash Mtn last trip but didn't let it ruin my trip by no means, we just focus on all the other wonderful shows, attractions and atmosphere and have a great time. This trip will definitely be more laid back with the baby going and I hope to get some great pics of both of my kids with characters. I've purchased MM this time bc in the past, either my daughter or myself took pics of each other so we had FEW pics of us together.

I'm excited and so is my DD. I'm hoping my DS will not be scared of characters though.

Hey BraveCruiser, BOG was so much fun last April and we can't wait to get back. Each of the three rooms have different things to offer, yet we gravitated to West Wing where it was darker, the paintings on the walls are very cool and there are storm sounds as the rose petals fall.
In the main large hall my DD read that the cherubs in the ceiling mural had the faces of the actual babies of the Imagineers that worked on it.

The food was very good and the cupcakes were a joy. My DH and I got the chocolate, DD#1 the strawberry shortcake and DD#2 the lemon-rasberry and they were all great.

We did lunch all three times, the line looked long over the bridge, yet it went very fast,IMO.

Have a magical time,
:hippie:

I'm just excited to soak up the magical atmosphere! Yeah, the rides are fun but just to enjoy the parks for what they are (esp MK!) makes the trip so much better, IMO. I cannot wait! :)

I just got back and we LOVED the bands and FP+. I think it made for the most relaxing trip we have had in a long time. And we were there for HUGE crowds. We had even bigger crowds last year so I was ready for the crush.

I walked arm in arm with my 15 year old daughter down Main Street - in fact we walked like that all 5 days. That alone was worth the $$.

Epoct festival - I got the Dole Whip with coconut rum. Delish! I also got the potato/cheese biscuit with salmon tartar at Buttercup in UK. I didn't see that on anyone's lists but it was AMAZING. In France we did not eat festival food, but instead went to the Patisserie that is located in the back of the gift shop - btw go see the movie in France. Much better than Soarin' in my opinion. Shot the same way - you are just not in the fancy chairs. Once you leave the movie the patisserie is right there. I had a chocolate torte with caramel custard that was wonderful - and a mimosa of course!

In the MK, get the cupcakes from the Cheshire Cafe. They sell out early so don't go too late. We actually had those first and then went to the Sleepy Hollow in for waffle sandwiches. Keep in mind that they do have sauces and more on them. We got the spicy chicken one. It comes with arugula and slaw on it so my daughter got hers plain. We also we back one late night and got a funnel cake with strawberries and whipped cream from there too.

Our goal the whole trip was to try new things. I rode the teacups and I had never done them before for fear of getting too dizzy. We parked at the swan and dolphin and took the boat to the back of Epcot - walked around world showcase. Disney is so much more than the E ticket rides!

OP, thank you for this thread.

I have had 3 different friends visit WDW, use FP+ and no complaints. They all had wonderful vacations. We are looking forward to our trip in two weeks. For the last 8 years, it's been just my DH and me taking our yearly trip to WDW. Flower and Garden is one of our favorite times especially the special concerts in the America amphitheater. A good ole' time music while you eat a funnel cake with a slab of ice cream on top:thumbsup2

This trip we are taking the family which now includes our grand daughter who has grown up in DLR for 4 years. We shall see what her reactions are. Her own mom was also bought up in DLR and was quite opinionated about the differences between the MK and DL at the age of 4. WDW/DLR are my DH's happy places. NOTHING can or will change that as far as he is concerned.

We will probably spend most days in Epcot wandering through the garden displays, eating and drinking our way through the new food kiosks. Can't wait!
Beats grading papers;)

I love this thread, thank you!

Its been a horrific 2014 and I can't tell you how much I need some Magic. I am looking forward to seeing THAT LOOK on my sons face (he will be 5- was 2 last time) and just being in the Disney bubble as I call it.

We did the same thing!! I really wanted to try Via Napoli but we figure all the booths will be fun to try!! And ditto on BOG!! Can't wait!

Totally with you, pigletgirl!

We are really looking forward to snorkeling again at Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon. It's really nice to have salt water to splash in.:woohoo:

when we find ourselves standing in a line a little too long, we do the...'Oh Yeah! We're in line in the sun, in Florida, Dance!'

It is what you make of it. To me all trips to Disney are special. Look at all the people who would love to be in your shoes. Just go and have a good time. Don't expect perfection, because nothing in the entire world is perfect, but Disney is about as close as you can get, IMO. :goodvibes

So excited to be reading this. :) We are going in June - haven't been for 5 years - CANNOT WAIT. My family just laughs every time I say "Hey, guess what???!!" because they know it will be something related to our Disney trip. :lmao:

So here's the way I've been channeling some excitement...I'm getting all into the DisneyBounding fun! There's another board on here where some of us are sharing ideas. I "bounded" as Peter Pan to work the other day. No one knew but me - but I loved it and felt very Disney-ish all day long! :wizard:
