The Pool makes a difference

Ok, I admit I did misspell the word amenity in my previous post. Sorry. Other than correcting my spelling errors, I do not see what point you are trying to make?????????????

The point is that you've listed lifeguards a resort amenity ("an amenity that if offered at the cheapest tier of Disney resorts should most definitly also be offered at all DVC resorts!!!!") and then state you have never been vocal about any amenities at OKW.

Why mention it at all if you're NOT trying to be vocal as claimed?

These comments seem to be just like those that have been accused of making derogatory statements about hallways, room sizes, etc. Neither is particularly helpful , IMO.

The spelling was not addressed at all.

I still am not quite sure what point you are trying to make but......anyway........I have never said that I thought OKW should or should not build a pool slide.
I will again address how I feel about life guard services at WDW resorts..............................if the option of having a pool with life guards is an option at the WDW value resorts, which are the cheapest priced resorts on property, then I think that this same amenity should be available at OKW, especially since it is an amenity offered to guest at WDW moderate and value resorts which are a much lower level of resorts than OKW is supposed to be.

Careful ... you're being very vocal about those OKW amenities ... again.

Slide, lifeguard, amenity - a rose by any other name - it is still those that do NOT own at OKW that seem most critical of OKW...if you DON'T want to stay there, there are plenty of other DVC options. I for one will take large rooms, full size washer dryer, and a large in room jacuzzi over a pool slide any day. It is your choice.

If I may be so bold, I think that Doc made his point quite well. In one post you were quoted as saying:

"I just want to clarify something..........I do not know who you are addressing but I have never been vocal about OKW "needing" a slide or any other amenitity."

...which was followed-up later by the following comment regarding lifeguards:

"I think that this same amenity should be available at OKW, especially since it is an amenity offered to guest at WDW moderate and value resorts"

But with that said, I have to ask: Is there really a need to beat this into the ground? Through all of the quoting and mis-quoting and quoting out of context, I completely understand your argument. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I respect your desire to say what you've said and share your POV.

More than anything, I'm left being curious as to your motives for the repeated postings. If you want to share your POV, I think you've accomplished that. If you want to sway others to your side of the argument, honestly you may want to reconsider the combative tactics.

In the end, it seems like we are left with an agreement to disagree. And that's OK. Really it is, because there is no "right" or "wrong" answer.

But if you want people to respect your opinions, listen to your arguments, and (most importantly) lend credence to your arguments, you might try raising the level of respect you offer to others' points-of-view. Sorry, but my opinion of you dropped a few notches with the "rationalize, rationalize, rationalize" comment.

When you show open distain for the opinions of others, you can often expect the same in return.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!................I was just about to sign off and I came across tjkraz's post specifically addressing me so of course I had to respond. LOL!!!
One comment I would like to make is: swaying others to my side of an argument is not even a consideration of mine. I voice my feelings and opinion because that is how I feel and it is immaterial to me who may or may not be swayed any which way.
I will state again, my opinion........I could not care less what amenities OKW does or does not have. This is a very true statement and it is also a very true statement to say that it is a disgrace that an amenity that is offered at Disney's cheapest priced resort (life guards at the main pool) is not offered at one of their DVC resorts. Do I care if OKW ever gets life guards.........NO. Do I still think that it is a disgrace that the value resorts have life guards available at their main pool while OKW does not...........Yes.
Respecting other people's opinions and one's opinions of others are a very personal thing that varies greatly from person to person. What is true for one person is very often the complete opposite for the next person. Just as my respect for certain people or their opinions, might very well vary greatly from yours!!
Thank you for taking your time to post your opinions regarding some posts I have made and your perception of my motives, opinions etc. I will try to remember to do the same for you.

Once again, what Disney pool without a slide and/or when the slide is not open has a lifeguard?

The Disney value resort's main pools do not have a slide however they have life guard service provided for their guests. As an aside, I have also seen Disney put life guards at the quiet pools (no pool slides) during busy times.

Yes, I realized that this time I posted I forgot to include extra large pools like you find at the Value resorts (mentioned it back a page or two.

My disagreement is that the lack of lifeguards at OKW is a reflection of any bias by WDW or treatment of OKW as a less than deluxe resort. It seems to be WDW policy to only provide lifeguards when a pool has "X" number of people/is over a certain size and/or has a slide. If/when OKW meets those criteria, I'm sure we'll have to get lifeguards. I actually wouldn't mind lifeguards but I disagree that the lack of them is any reflection on the quality of OKW.

OKW is a totally different set-up than any other DVC resort. It is a stand-alone luxury condo community located in the heart of WDW. It is not associated with a hotel or designed to have a hotel feel. It is much more like a "club" than a hotel. As such, the needed amenitiies are different than those one expects to find at a hotel. That's not to say that either one is right or wrong -- it's just different experiences. Some people like one or the other -- some people like them all.
