I'm already starting to plan for our 2017 summer trip for my daughter's 8th grade graduation. My kids have expressed that they'd like to stay at the Polynesian for the first time. We usually stay at WL or Boardwalk.

For those of you that have stayed there, any thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!party:

We stayed there for the first time in March. We really enjoyed it. The food options are great and the location is awesome and the pool is nice. We do prefer BC slightly over the Poly though.

Poly is a great resort. We stayed last year and really enjoyed the theming and atmosphere. Enjoyed all the restaurants and the quick service. Aloha Isle is there serving up fresh Dole Whips also. You could rent boats at the marina right there. The monorail and ferry boats to Magic Kingdom are very convenient. Wait times for buses never seemed long. The pool is great and has a nice slide. I could go on..... Oh one more thing, THE VIEW from the beach!!!! Loved seeing the castle before bed time every night!! I'm sure you will love it.

The the biggest difference from WL is you have to go outside and walk to main building to get to the food, shops, etc where at WL everything is under one roof. Poly rooms are much larger and rooms have queen beds plus daybed.
2nd floor rooms at Poly don't have a balcony. I always request 3rd floor.
Pros
Large rooms
Beautiful grounds
Watching Wishes and Electric Water Parade from beach.
Great dining options
On monorail makes dining at other MK resorts easy.
Quick walk to TTC for Epcot monorail.

Love The Poly. Biggest con is the price!!!

I haven't stayed at BW so can't comment. I prefer YC/BC if staying at Epcot resort.

It's been years since I've stayed there, we stayed a couple of times back when the MK resorts were the only ones on property. I've stayed at BW twice. We love the Epcot resorts since Epcot and HS are our favorite parks. If you have stayed at WL you are pretty familiar already with the pros and cons of location. My only con about the location is we don't really spend a lot of time at MK and having to rely on the monorail to get Epcot is sort of a pain for us. For me the Poly is a beautiful resort but seems a bit busier than BW and, of course, there is the price difference. If MK is your park of choice, I'd say go for it.

Location Location Location.. Beautiful grounds and atmosphere!

One con with older kids is that I think the Epcot resort pools are somewhat better for the older kids. Even the Volcano pool skews to a younger/shorter set.

We stayed there on our last trip. I was not in love with it at all. The one pro for us was the monorail! Made things so much easier to get around. We prefer the Epcot resorts. I felt like there was more to do after the parks and I like being able to walk to 2 parks. I'm glad we stayed there so I can say we did it once but I wouldn't stay there again.

Poly is our Most Favorite - we've stayed at Contemporary, Beach Club, CBR, POFQ, Pop, All Star Music, All Star Movies, and Saratoga Springs. We love the food options ('Ohana! Tonga Toast! Dole Whips!), love watching the Electric Water Pageant and Wishes from the beach, like the pool, love the tropical atmosphere - it's just very relaxing. Trader Sam's is great - and there is the on-site kid's club to be able to enjoy Trader Sam's. Beach Club is our second favorite - better pool for sure, great to be able to walk to EPCOT. I like trying new resorts, never know what might be a new favorite. Our Beach Club visit was a first last year, and it really was tough to decide which one (Poly vs BC) I liked better!

It really depends on each person's idea of what is valuable in a resort. The Polynesian is my all time favorite and the only con for me is the ridiculous rates.

It is really nice to watch Wishes from your room balcony, to watch Wishes from the pool and to watch Wishes from your table at the end of a yummy meal at O'Hana's.

Tonga toast.

Trader Sam's

Dole Whip

Welcome Lei's.

The incredible feeling of relaxed luxury. The romantic atmosphere walking around tiki torch lit pathways. The complete unpretentiousness of the resort.

Watching the castle change colors at night. (from your BED if you have TPV)

walking to the GF.

Monorail or boat to the MK (we love the boat)

Feeling your troubles melting away.................

Life at the Poly is GOOD!
