The Poly 2 thread about Poly 2 threads

Winner, winner! Yeah, we do have a lot of them don't we? Here is one I think would be interesting...not sure it would be even legal or possible, BUT:

For all those PVB1 owners. How many would vote for a change to the POS to become part of a new association with the PV Tower in exchange for now owning a contract that has resale restrictions?

Is this for existing direct or resale points?

If I understand things correctly, that would require a vote of all Poly owners as it would be seen as a material change.

It would not matter what type of points you own. Each owner would have a vote. If 60% (think that is the number) of all owners voted for the change, it would move forward and now be part of the official document. At that point, all contracts owned at Poly would become restricted when sold but you would end up with one Poly association. This could not be something that was offered to some as the POS has to apply for all.

This would be such a legal hurdle that I don't ever see DVD doing it, but I got to thinking today if any current Poly owners would take resale restrictions to have the 11 month window at the new tower?

That sounds like a mess. Administratively and legally. Much easier to just set up a new association. PVB1 owners that wish to become part of the PV2 tower association can buy direct points there. Simple. More $ for Disney. No current owners complaining (cough cough VGF1 owners) about the unwashed masses buying into their beloved resort and booking up all their existing rooms. “Hey DVC ohana, we heard you loud and clear that you don’t want us to change the resort you bought into. So just for you we made PV2 it’s own association! And for all you direct Riviera owners that are upset because you thought all new builds would have restrictions, we heard you too! Restrictions at PV2! Restrictions at DLT! Restrictions everywhere!” It’s all for us. Never mind the ones that don’t like resale restrictions - current owners were grandfathered in when the restrictions came about at each level, so no one complained too loudly. After all, it didn’t affect them much.

It would be and I don’t see it happening but it was just something that I thought would be interesting to know what Poly owners would do if faced with that choice!

Since Disboards users like speculation so much, let's have a Poly2 thread about how good the food will be at the new restaurants 🤣
I think we also deserve another on speculation re: room amenities 😅
And why don't we go ahead and vote on names for the new tower while we're at it 😂 ... I actually would participate in that one

I would not vote to restrict my resale Poly points in exchange for joining a new association. I would be unhappy if the rest of my Poly owners voted in favor of that. RIV was selling when we went on our first DVC tour. I thought the rooms were lovely but the resale restrictions are a deal breaker for me. I get that other people don't mind them, but I'm a firm no on resale restrictions. I hope they get rid of them at RIV and all future resorts.

Out of curiosity, if owners had to vote on anything, is it one vote per contract? Per membership? Does a 25 point contract carry the same weight as a 300 point contract?

The way that I read it, it is each owner of a contract within the unit would be voting. So, I would think that owners with more than one contract would have more than one vote...however, if someone only owned one 25 point contract, and someone owned one 300 point contract, they would both get the one vote.

As I shared, I don't think DVD would ever go down this route, but it was something I thought would be interesting to hear from current owners there which way they would go if they did have a choice between resale restrictions or the 11 month window.

I am still leaning toward this being a new association located at Poly and will be another CCV/BRV situation...two DVC resorts within the one large Poly complex. I think we have a long time to wait to know and would not be surprised if its not determined/shared until building starts.

As a current owner of PVB (direct), I vote no. If I want 11-Mon booking advantage at the new tower, I would just buy points there. I don’t want any restrictions. I don’t want to have to remember which which contract can/cannot be used where…
I bought RIV resale because I love it there so that doesn’t count 😝

Keep in mind this is the Poly 2 thread about Poly 2 threads. We're supposed to talk about Poly 2 threads here, not Poly 2. We should only talk about Poly 2 on the Poly 2 threads that are not about Poly 2 threads. This is serious business folks, no joking around. :teeth:

HA! I may not speak for Chuck & Sandi, but I am not policing which Poly comment goes in which Poly thread and I am not joking around, either, LOL. It's hard enough just getting through all these threads!!! :teeth: :teeth: (But it's kind of fun getting to know everyone a bit better). :)

You have spoken perfectly well for me…Poly talk can go wherever Poly talk wants to go as long as it follows the rules!

I think one association would mean no restricted points. Two associations would mean the Poly tower would be like Riviera.

It's been quiet. There has not been a new Poly 2 thread in some time. But I expect some new juicy news item will leak out soon to prime the pump.

I think if it was going to be a separate association the standard language about it not being available as a new resort with a resale purchase like it still references reflection which is on the shelf for now. The language would be updated to refer to poly 2 as not being available to use resale points since it’s now announced if they were planning to keep it separate.

Nothing like this has to be decided yet. So absence of language does not mean One way or the other. I think that is what they want.

VGF came right out to say it’s the same. Maybe because the change is 2019 is that all new resorts are restricted. Should the assumption then be that it’s new unless they confirm it’s not? Could that be why they made sure to say that when announcing the quick flip of a building for VGF?

You can read the notice and find ways to pretty much support either choice. In terms of updated the POS, they did not yet announce a name, so no need to update that yet,

If it becomes part of PvB, it doesn’t need an update. If it will be new, it gets added then. Right now, it’s neither and I think DVD wants it that way because they don’t want anyone to know what they will do…and that is even if it has been decided.

I find it unique it came out right after VGF sales started again. But right Now only current owners,

Could they be waiting to announce it shortly once it opens to new buyers so they can now add it to the sale pitch as new?

But, the fact they did not announce it specifically as part of PVB means something and IMO, leads more for it being new than the same.
