The previous poster said they bought him a camper.

I was reiterating what you said, that the couple didn't buy him a camper as they put the ownership in their name.

I hope they are tossed in jail and everything they own is sold. Proceeds of the sale of their home, cars etc can go towards paying back the money they stole and bonus.... when they get out of jail they will be homeless without a single possession except the clothing on their backs.

I never got the warm and fuzzies from them when I first heard about it. Why do they care what he spends the money on? They fundraised for him not for themselves. I get that people don't want money to be used in bad ways but it seems like a pretty poor and crappy thing to think you can control what money that is given by other people for another adult like this. It reeks to me like taking advantage of someone. If they really cared about him spending money on things like drugs then maybe it would have been sending the money to a drug treatment center for him to go, maybe it would have been money used for therapy/working on helping him through his addiction. But no they went and spent the money where they wanted to. That to me makes it seem so much more like they didn't have good intentions from the beginning.

I'd also like to add they didn't buy him a camper. They used money from the fundraiser. It wasn't money out of their pockets that was used to buy the camper. They also put the camper on their property (seems a bit strange honestly) and then decided they wanted him off their property and kicked him out of the camper that was again bought with money from the fundraiser for him.

I just don't have any sympathy for this couple because of their actions and I seriously question whether they had good intentions to begin with.

I’m in complete agreement with you. I meant they “bought him a camper” as in they went through the physical act of going to the business and handing the business money (same way my son runs into the store to buy me something.)

My point was he wanted to move to NC and buy/rent a home there, instead they decided he was getting a camper and went and bought it. They were making all the decisions in how the money was spent.

I’m still annoyed she gave them a forum without apparently doing any checking into their story. She provided a sympathetic ear and tried to say “poor you guys just trying to helpl...when in reality they were scammers. Her show should have done some due diligence into their story when really it wasn’t hard to say hey that’s weird you don’t make much but have taken all these vacations and bought an expensive used car..can you explain that before we put you on the air.

I looked up and in PA they can garnish wages in court-ordered restitution in criminal matters. That may apply to this situation. Bad news is they can only garnish 25% of their disposable income if it applies so it's not like the money would be handed over in a lump sum it would take a while. I guess it could come to that if criminal charges were filed and they were convicted of it.

When I was looking that up I was trying to remember where they were from. Thanks for catching that-I wasn't completely positive it was PA. Good to know it would be easy enough to garnish wages at least for her.

He should get the money back that they spent to buy a camper. At least the couple is young . . . maybe he could get 25% of their income for the next decade or so as they pay him back. It has been reported that they had sold the camper and the truck that they purchased "for" him.

I don't think these people will have jobs long since they will likely be in custody soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI is also investigating given that the logistics of what they are alleged to have done.
