The Plaza-Underrated???

I booked an ADR here for our upcoming trip because it was the only good time available that day for dinner. Parade is at 3 pm so booked a 4:05 seating. I know this restaurant doesn't get a lot of attention but it seems the people that do review it seem to enjoy. Will my kids enjoy, aged 5 and 2?? The 2 year old has milk allergy, unfortunately, but we can work around that issue.

We love the Plaza for a lighter meal. Many people say it's not a good value on the DDP because the prices are generally lower than other TS locations. But we don't do the DDP and we think it's a great TS choice at MK.

As for the allergy, if you have that noted on your ADR, the chef will come out and discuss your needs and what foods on the menu are safe to eat, or make your child something off the menu if necessary.

We think the Plaza is the best kept secret. We love their food. Just be carefull, if your young child orders mini burgers they are not going to be shaped like Minnie Mouse. It caused my mini granddaughter to have a mini meltdown.:)

it's small but cute. it's like the grand floridian feel. it's not a place to gorge yourself, it's sandwiches and dessert! i had the rueben which was good and DH had a burger. we didnt like that the tables were so close, it really felt like we were eating with another family. as two adults we like to have our own space but with kids i think it'd be of less concern. it's a fun place to eat and was good.

I LOVE the Plaza!! I think they have one of the best Turkey Clubs around, but that's just me. ;) I'll eat there at least once during my trips. And I'm sure your kids will like it. While I don't have young children, I remember sitting next to a family who did and from what I heard the children's menu was very pleasing. Here's a link and you can check it out...

Have fun!

I think it is a good value for TS, too. The one thing I need to point out is that it is a bit inconsitent. Their steak fries and sundaes are fantastic. I used to love the Philly Cheesesteak, but it has been unpredictable the last two times. Still would recommend it!

We LOVED it! I can't wait to return... one of my fave WDW restaurants.

We find it to be OVER-rated. It is glorified counter-service sandwiches and ice cream you can get next door at the ice cream shop. Not worht a TS credit to us, and only worth paying OOP for us if we are using the TIW card to save 20% (which makes it roughly equal in price to the higher priced items at most CS locations now). It is small, the wait can get long even if you have an ADR, etc. Just not our bag, baby.

I wasn't impressed.

The restaurant is tiny and the tables are incredibly close together. Closer than at Le Cellier, if that gives you any point of reference. My club sandwich was NOTHING to write home about, no better than the sandwich I could get at my local diner for a few bucks less. The desserts were okay but again, nothing special. Our waitress was trying her best but she had a lot of tables and our service suffered because of it. It was also rather warm in there.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's okay if you just want a sandwich...but then again, so is Columbia Harbour House! =]

Yep and I hope it stays that way lol. MK is lacking in TS to sit in my opinion and I am so glad that The Plaza is not too popular. We do not do dining plan because I HATE eating heavy meals each and every day of my trips. The sandwiches are better than CS restaurants and the fries are the best at Disney in my opinion.

Love it! Sandwiches are so good - Reuben is heavenly! Kids and hubby love the milkshakes, and their fries are different there as well.

We have TIW, and we love it, as it costs us pretty much the same as a CS would - we don't care for CS meals at all, due to the standardized menus, we don't eat fast food, and we dislike the whole fighting for tables.

Plaza is small, but it is cute and makes for a great lunch or light dinner on a hot summer's day in WDW!

Tiger :)

We we able to walk-in here in January for the first time and we thought that it was really good. We've had been to all of the other TS restaurants at MK and didn't care for most of them too much. Plaza has a limited selection but the prices and very reasonable and food is good.

I love it. Its great for a nice filling meal without overstuffing yourself. I like going for lunch and it makes walking around, for hours after, more enjoyable because its not a heavy meal. The atmosphere is nice and lots of AC!

You'll enjoy it!

I totally agree. we werent impressed, waited a good bit past our ADR, longer than we usually do for TS restaurants. Food was what we felt we could have just gotten at a CS.

I would not waste a TS Credit there, we paid OOP when we went instead. The food was good but our service was the worst we have ever had on Disney Property. I know that can happen anywhere though. We may return one day but it is not a must do for us.

I can get amazing sandwiches for way less so I never feel inclined to eat there. I have heard many people say they like it though.

we find it a refreshing change of pace from the usual mk choices. we're typically a party of 5-6 very diverse eaters so the simple american fare works for us. the portions are very large but i agree the wait staff is efficient in that they always seem to get things right and have no problem with requests but they're slower than other venues. for whatever reason for years it's been my daughters (age 21) favorite place to eat so we book usually a lunch there once a visit.
