I'm starting to plan for our May 05 trip. This will be our 2nd trip to WDW and last for a long while :( I'm thinking Poly LV,cl x 4 days, cruise x 3 nights and return to either BC/YC, GF or Poly.

I just loved Poly so I'm having trouble with commiting to another resort.

The other problem is the cruise. Have never been. I'm interested and willing to try a cruise. I've read and talked to people that rave abut cruises. again, I do want to try but....there is somethingabout it just does not seem like it would be fun. Seems like you have to pay a lot to go on the cruise and then pay a lot for each excursion and hagel with people about prices.....cut deals......

Been on a cruise and not liked it?

I would have put this on cruise board but I thought most of those people would be on their because they liked their cruise.

Ever found a resort you love so much that you find it hard to try another?

Have you been on a cruise an not liked it? anyone?

I have never been on the cruise so I can't comment but I am certainly having a difficult time not staying at AKL this time... we have stayed there for our past 2 trips and we absolutely LOVE it. Since we are going with the inlaws this year, we are trying a 2 bedroom at BCV. I guess it's not that bad because I know we will be going back next year.

Ultimately, its your trip, and you have to decide, but...

I think you're shortchanging yourself if you don't try something different. We stayed at AKL last trip, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but will probably stay at WL next trip because its looks like such a beautiful place. The Poly is a cool place but, trust me, you can't go wrong at the other resorts either.

As for the cruise...we've been on two, neither of them Disney. One of the things I wondered about was the boredom factor. I can honestly say I was never bored on either, and I don't gamble or drink heavily. It seems like there's always something to do, and if you don't want to participate in a formal activity, you can always grab a book and lay by the pool. I would think a Disney cruise would offer even more fun activities.

I have been on several cruises and have really enjoyed them, but I prefer an all-inclusive resort. On two of the cruises I went on, I got a little sea sick. It depends on the person and their tolerance and it depends on how rough the seas are. On one cruise we knew we hit particularly bad seas and weather when the workers were running to find a place to vomit. The other thing about cruises that I consider to be a disadvantage is the size of the rooms. Let me just mention that we could never afford a nice large suite and so we always had to choose the smaller, inside cabins. They are VERY small. The good news is that you will rarely be in you cabin, but it makes getting dressed a challenge. The food on a cruise is outstanding and the service is wonderful however, when you budget for a cruise you need to budget for all the tipping you will do when it is over. There are a ton of people that it is customary to tip. At many all-inclusive resorts, tipping is not allowed so it is nice not to have to budget that extra money. Unlike an all-inclusive resort, drinks are not free on a cruise. They can be quite expensive. Some cruises are starting to give free non-alcoholic beverages at meal time and at certain venues on board, but when I went on my last cruise that wasn't the case. I think everyone should try a cruise at least once if it is in their budget. You can't even imagine the enormity of the ship until you have been on one and it is something so different than other travel.
Good Luck.
Amy:)

Thanks for your posts. I would like to try something new. I'm just not convinced that the cruise is it this time. maybe?

Since we won't be back to disney for a long while I think I will change resorts. Maybe even try a Universal for the last two days of the trip.

Well, thanks again.

bhillier--best thing to do is take a 3 or 4 day cruise. you will not be bored, unless you WANT to be...especially a disney cruise. we are taking disney cruise in a few years, but just took a cruise last fall. a cruise is what u make it...busy or relaxing, lots of excursions or hang around on deck...the good thing is there is always something to do on the ship--if YOU WANT. we did an all inclusive for our honeymoon and a cruise for our 10th anniversary...my husband asked which i'd prefer to do again...i told him the cruise! even tho you are 'stuck' on a ship (like an all inclusive), the different ports of call are fun! (usually an all inclusive excursion involves locals and "hagling"). i liked being as busy as i wanted on the cruise. i think the disney boat is going to be awesome...our son will be 9 when we do that! but, like a resort, how do you know if you don't try?? you may actually like a different resort BETTER!?! give it a shot to make sure you're not missing something better!!:smooth:
