The Pirates and the Frog (7/17 Welcome to the Next Adventure!)

Great pics of the room! I love the looks of CBR, but I wasn't really into the pirate themed rooms. However, you've made them look interesting enough that I would consider it, if the kids wanted it... :rolleyes1

Wow, I love the theming of the POTC rooms at CBR!

Yeah, they did a great job prepping our ship for us.
Us pirates felt right at home!

The kids'll love it matey!
It be perfect for those aspiring buccaneers!

Sorry for the delay everyone - we were out of town pillaging and plundering again.
We're back now and the updates will commence immediately!!

After exploring our vessel, we changed into more appropriate plundering attire and headed out to see the World!
Requiring transport, we headed back to the bus stop.

Disney2009Pirates064.jpg

The crew was very excited to finally get our adventure underway!

Disney2009Pirates061.jpg

We waited for a bit and I decided to take some more portraits of our surroundings.
A pirate is always on the lookout for new things!
Disney2009Pirates056.jpg

Everything was perfectly themed for our Caribbean adventure from the trashcans
Disney2009Pirates065.jpg

to the machines distributing drinks.
Disney2009Pirates066.jpg

Finally the bus arrived and we headed out.
Upon arrival at the transport center, we meandered towards a huge sphere towering over the land.
We tried to blend and some nice folk even took our portraits at the entrance.

Disney2009PiratesPass006.jpg

Disney2009PiratesPass007.jpg

It seems there was a festival of sorts happening at this sphere.
The signs indicated there would be spirits and that be all we needed to hear!
Disney2009Pirates068.jpg

Large colorful cakes decorated the sphere but I’ll be on the lookout for me rum to share with me crew!
Disney2009Pirates069.jpg

We were ahead of schedule as we were expecting to meet some fellow plunderers at the African docks in about an hour.
Good thing too because once we entered what everyone was calling EPCOT, a blue monstrosity almost attacked us!
Swords at the ready me hearties!!
Disney2009Pirates074.jpg

Turns out the creature was all fluff and no bite.
Our little X was a bit taken aback at first:
Disney2009Pirates072.jpg

But seemed to warm up to the creature shortly thereafter.
Disney2009Pirates073.jpg

The rest of the crew had no such trouble and jumped right in!
Aloha!
Disney2009Pirates071.jpg

Nearby, a gigantic female duck was greeting the peasants.
She was kind enough to pose for a portrait with our crew.
Disney2009PiratesPass018.jpg

And then even “autographed” one of our Pirate Princess giving her a big hug:
Disney2009PiratesPass014.jpg

There be weird creatures on these here magical shores.
So we figured our best bet was to gather some information and get the lay of the land.
The maiden stopped off to get an assistance card for herself and little X’s weak ankles.
I took that as an opportunity to explore a bit of these here "Guest Relations."
To start with, I found a treasure map of this festival of spirits.
FGFestivalGuide2009.jpg

Then I admired the portraits on the walls...
A second sphere apparently explodes into fire when evening falls…
Disney2009Pirates075a.jpg

And some steel man wants to show us some exhibits elsewhere
Disney2009Pirates076a.jpg

A third portrait displays a new invention designed to be faster than our ship itself but on land!
Disney2009Pirates077a.jpg

Lastly, I found the rodent had invaded this land as well and even modeled for a communications device!
Disney2009Pirates078.jpg

Now that we were prepped for our adventure, it was time to for our rendezvous!
Join the crew as we ferry to the African coast!

:cool1: you made it to your first park!

X looks a little apprehensive around the characters. I hope he felt more comfortable as the trip progressed :goodvibes

Nice update Mike :thumbsup2

The photo-pass pictures of the family are perfect !

 how you took pictures of all the things inside guest relations , would have never thought to do that .

I am so glad that some of you out there in DISland actually appreciate all the ridiculous photos that DH insists on taking! I usually think he is being overly obsessive when he starts photographing trash cans and scanning in every pamphlet he gets from anywhere in The World! :confused3

As for my take on CBR, I absolutely agree that it is too spread out!
Not to give away too much ahead of time but I found it really annoying that we had to wait for the internal bus just to get to the pool and the food court.

Still, the Pirate rooms were way cool and a pretty good size (compared to where we usually stay at Pop).
I am definitely glad we did it this once and I would consider it again for a short stay but for a longer vacation, the "upcharge" really starts to add up!

Also, it's worth noting that Disney only allows 4 guests in each of the Pirate rooms.
We were able to get away with 5 because X was still small enough to stay in a pack & play.
So this was our last chance to try out the rooms before X got too big!

I loved this update; your whole family looks so excited to be there and getting started!

Awww, poor Little X got cut out of the photo! :rotfl:

A DIS meet??? :woohoo:

We were definitely excited to start our adventure!
Alas, we were not headed for a DIS meet but a fun rendezvous just the same!

You take the best photos!

Thanks!
It's nice to know other DIS'ers appreciate all the details.
As you can see, the maiden gets sick of it... :sad2:

:cool1: you made it to your first park!

X looks a little apprehensive around the characters. I hope he felt more comfortable as the trip progressed :goodvibes

He was fine with everyone else but that blue alien had him a little unsure.
And, yes, we were excited to finally get the plundering underway!

Nice update Mike :thumbsup2

I learned on my solo tour that one should always be on the lookout for details. :magnify:
And I had never seen those portraits before so I figured they would be a nice addition to my collection.

can't wait to see where you are going - African docks has me stumped!

Really? I didn't think that one was too hard.
Don't fret though - I'll be revealing the mystery shortly.
Now if I can just find me map...

Finally, the Capells were ready for adventure!
We headed towards the lagoon but stopped along the way for a portrait of the Fountain of Nations.
I love the new railings complete with original Spaceship Earth logo...
Disney2009Pirates079a.jpg

Nearby another area was highlighting the festival of spirits!
I think a drink may be in this pirate’s future…
Disney2009Pirates081.jpg

And once again friendly artists were taking portraits of the various crews.
My crew was a bit taken aback by the sunlight and X was more focused on the giant bottles...
Disney2009PiratesPass027.jpg

In addition, these magical wizards were able to conjure up images from the beyond and place them into our portrait!
First, our Pirate Princess was almost blown away!
Disney2009PiratesPass031.jpg

Then the first mate
Disney2009PiratesPass033.jpg

And finally our fair maiden along with X
Disney2009PiratesPass037.jpg

In addition to these celebratory images, these voodoo doctors managed to conjure a fairy as well.
Our Pirate Princess was in heaven as the First Mate pointed it out.
Arrgh! It be Tinker Bell herself! Catch her!!!
Disney2009PiratesPass039.jpg

Unfortunately, the darn ball of light got away.
So I grabbed one more shot of the large sphere and we headed towards the lagoon.
Disney2009Pirates082.jpg

While waiting for our vessel, the Fair Maiden found a gypsy from Athens, Greece pedaling some grub.
She quickly grabbed a Spanikopita and made short work of it.
A small vessel then arrived – a “Friendship” boat it be called.
Me crew was excited to cross this here lagoon and begin a-plunderin’!
Soon enough, we arrived at the African coastline.
Heading into the Moroccan Village, we were on the lookout for our fellow swashbucklers.
I was unable to reach them all afternoon on our communications device so we hoped to just find them (shouldn’t be too hard, right?)
Our friends were actually the elders of Boxmaster here on the boards and I had planned their whole itinerary.
If they were on schedule, they should be near this coast.
Against all odds, as I headed up the ramp from the docks, I literally walked right past them!
We all grabbed a seat in the Moroccan village and began to catch up.
In the meantime, me crew was beyond hungry.
Our fair maiden headed off in search of grub while I made due right here.
I had discovered this pub on my previous solo trip and Tangieriene Café was definitely on my list to return to.
I hungrily scarfed down a Falafel Wrap and handed my baklava off to the wee ones.
They munched on that until our food wench – er, maiden – returned with some pizzas and a drink of ice made of strawberries.
She had plundered these from a Bologna gypsy selling food down the way.
Remember - this here festival of spirits had some food in it too. ;)

But before we continue, let’s meet one some of our new additions.
Right next to my outside table, I found a magical portrait-taker just standing there by his lonesome.
These fine sorcerers should not be left alone so I quickly interrupted him and asked him to capture Boxmaster’s Mom.
While weary of the spells this stranger might put on her, Boxmaster's Mom reluctantly agreed:
[Author's Note: we need a better nickname for her...]
Disney2009PiratesPass045.jpg

And then we joined her of course!
Disney2009PiratesPass061.jpg

We finished our grub and made ready to depart the African coastline when that rodent made another appearance.
The slippery mouse has taken to hiding his image among the décor to confuse us.
Ah matey, this ‘ere pirate is too smart for that and I spotted him easily!
Disney2009Pirates084.jpg

No small rodents will be sneaking up on my crew!
And with that, we departed and headed off to… save the world?

You got some great "magic" shots by the fountain!

She quickly grabbed a Spanikopita and made short work of it.

Did you get some? Or do you not care for it?

They munched on that until our food wench – er, maiden – returned with some pizzas and a drink of ice made of strawberries.

That's much more my style! DH loves spanikopita, but I really don't.

We love those magic shots!
And, no, I'm not a big Spanikopita fan - I had my heart set on that Moroccan falafel! :goodvibes

Hi all! At this point, I think I need to pop in and "fill in the blanks" that my DH didn't bother to explain...

You see, Boxmaster is my husband's Best Bud, and Godfather to all 3 of our DisKids. In fact, he will be joining us for our next DisTrip (January 2011)!

So, Boxmaster's parents are like an extra set of grandparents to our kids and we were thrilled that our vacation overlapped with theirs this time! When DH was planning our trip (& theirs) he made sure that we could enjoy some time at The World with our extended family!

Also, I should note that YES, I did see where DH referred to me as a "wench" again...but we should all forgive him because he also bought me some Cherry Garcia Ice Cream today! :yay:
