Anyone else addicted to this site?
www.thepioneerwoman.com

She is living the life I was probably raised to live but abandoned for the big city.
I love the cooking area. The detailed pictures are great for us non-cooks and there is photography which is another hobby and other stuff too numerous to mention. Even a section for homeschoolers.
She has a new cookbook that is beautiful as well as very great recipes with pictures of the steps. Too cool!!

Been reading her blog off and on for about a year. Figured out that she was in my state after I started reading, so it's fun when she talks about stuff because I'm like hey I know that place or oh she must mean this area or store.

I couldn't go to her booksigning so a coworker went and got me her cookbook. I actually like the site better than the cookbook LOL. But she has great recipies and she really is funny when she talks about her cooking, her family and her life.

I love Ree! Her new cookbook is awesome!

I modify a lot of her recipes, just because we are trying to eat a little healthier but honestly almost everything she makes is delicious!

I love her site! Love reading about Marlboro Man, the punks, Charlie, pesky Tim and everyone else. Love her photography and learning about a life that is so different from my own. I have her cookbook - bought it as a present to myself and it is real nice - haven't made anything from it yet tho. :)

I am a blog reader...know of any other good ones?

The funny part of her pretty heavy calorie meals are that is exactly how my family ate on the ranch and no one was overweight and no one every had heart issues.
Our standard ranch fare was eggs, bacon and biscuits for breakfast, big lunch of roast, potatoes, beans etc and a very small dinner.
My Mom's family grew up eating like this every day and they have all lived very long healthy lives.
There is just so much physical labor involved in a ranch that you end up getting a very good workout every day.

Do any of you know if she is considering opening up cooking weekends at The Lodge? It seemed to me that that might be one of the purposes of renovating it and making it so cooking friendly.
Since I live in Dallas and my sister lives in Tulsa, it would be so fun to meet there if she had one.
One other observation- they seem to have a lot more $ than my ranching family ever did. We ranched in NM and they are in OK which I am sure makes a difference. I had to laugh when I saw their hay bailer. We had to buy our hay since in NM you can't grow your own easily.
There was an old Ace Reid (cowboy cartoonist) that had a comic that said "I guess if I won a million dollars, I would keep on ranching until it was all gone". :lmao: Our "winning a million dollars" was when they discovered gas on the ranch (we own mineral rights where Ree does not) and that sustained everything.

Wow! Thank you for introducing me to her website! It looks fantastic and like something you could easily get wrapped up in. I will have to bookmark it!

I have never been a blog reader before. I only found this site because right before Christmas I was searching for a recipe for monkey bread and she had one. I ended up using hers and it was fantastic.
Blogs are blocked at work so I have not gotten into any others.

I love her site! She takes beautiful pictures. I have gotten some cool photoshop tricks from her photography page. I just got my first dslr so I am going to go back and read some of her ideas for good photos.

I always read her cooking page too, more for her beautiful photos than the recipes, although the ones I have tried have been tasty. Some are too decadent even for me (and I LOVE butter), but I guess if I was working outdoors all day I could eat like that every day and stay somewhat trim. Since I am stuck at a desk I usually just look at the pictures. :)

My understanding is that her husband's family is either the largest or the second largest landowner in Oklahoma, and they've been cattle farming for some generations. She seems like a very nice person, and her kids are adorable.

exactly if I did that much manual labour I could eat whatever I wanted! Now? not so much.

I love her cinnamon rolls but modified the recipe so much that it really isnt her recipe anymore but she gave me a good starting point!

I used to think she was in Nebraska. lol

I read almost every day, she is pretty funny, and red headed to boot!

Not only do I love her site, but so does my hubby! It's really fun to read. We've made lots of her recipes, yummy! I found out yesterday that we share the same birthday!

I have been a daily reader of Ree's almost since she started her blog. She just has a way with her writing, you feel like you know her, not just some stranger you are getting a glimps of her life.

Count me in as someone who's hooked. I read everyday! I made her apricot bars for Christmas, they were amazing!

I've read her blog forever. I think I heard of it here on the DIS. Love it!:thumbsup2

How did all of y'all hear about her blog originally?
I heard about it from the Dallas Morning News feauture article about a month ago and finally went there when I got the recipe.

She's linked on a few of the other blogs I read. Might have been on The Tobyshow, or maybe be the Co-Op. Can't remember.

Love, love love her blog!!
I heard about it from another blog I read. that one I got into because her daughter had cancer and I have a friend whose son had cancer. I started following a lot of cancer kids back then.

I love her blog! Mostly the cooking area! Her directions are so clear, and my family has loved everything we have tried. We are scaling back, since we're trying to eat healthier this year, but I don't think I'll be able to give up her cinnamon rolls. I made them for neighbor gifts this Christmas, and made so many batches, I have the recipe memorized. My kids love these on Saturday mornings. I love to experiment with flavors of fillings and glaze, too. Yummy!
