The Pill and antibiotics, FYI

I stopped both before getting pregnant .

I agree that with the warning still out there, if you do the deed, you need to be prepared for anything that may happen 9 months later.

Congrats on your pregnancy from another expecting mother! :wave2:

Do antibiotics make birth control pills less effective?
Early data about 20 years ago seemed to indicate that when antibiotics were taken along with birth control pills, more women got pregnant than you would normally expect.

You're a little too late with the information above! My son will be 20 in May....20 years after being on antibiotics for strep throat! :rotfl2: :lmao:

That makes two of us that learned this too late...My DD will also be 20 in May, she was six weeks premature, which would have brought us to 9 months from when I was on antibiotics for a sinus infection.

I'm a pharmacist and I ALWAYS mention the possibility to my patients. Studies are conflicting on the matter - every time one says there is no interaction, another comes out to refute that :confused3 . So, how big is the risk? I figure that the risk is as big as the individual person's situation - would a pregnancy be the absoulte wrong thing to happen to you at this point in your life? If so, don't take the chance - always err on the side of caution.
