March 5 we leave Tennessee at 4:00 am to drive to Orlando, left at 4:00 so kids would sleep, also put us on other side of Atlant before 6:30 am. We arrived in Orlando around 2:00 and went to Westgate to check in (see Westgate report on Orlando hotels thread for info), room wasn't ready so we went to grab some lunch and returned at 3:30. Got in room by 4:00. Hung out for a while, let the kids play in the pool, went shopping for groceries, etc.

Sunday we slept in, checked out the resort, went to the pool again, ordered pizza from the Pizza Hut on site, be forwarned, about $20 a pizza. Then we headed over to DTD to shop. Picked up the kids GOH badges, let me tell you, these are great and worth the $6 they cost. Many of the characters greeted the kids by name because they were wearing the badges (characters like Wendy, Peter Pan, Aladdin, etc. the other characters don't speak) and some of the none speaking characters even wrote "to Micah" or "to Alicia". If you have been thinking about the badges all I can say is get them, get them, get them. Even people standing in line would comment, "oh look, they are a guest of honor". Got the kids a starter lanyard with pins, these are $25 each, Micah traded all his original four, traded up though for more expensive pins. I had already ordered them 2 pins each for $5 off another site I found and they had arrived the week before we left. DH bought them each one more and brother bought them each one. So they had a pretty good collection. Went to the toy store and bought a box of Mr. & Mrs. Potato head parts, bought the Potato heads at Walmart for $5 before we left. Kids had great fun playing with these. Kids bought a few things. Made a few stops on the way back to resort to buy t-shirts, souveniers for back home, etc. Dad had to have Dunkin Donuts so stopped to buy donuts to have after leftover pizza. DS decided he didn't want pizza, he wanted waffle house so ran in and placed a to-go order for 2 kids waffles, 2 kids hashbrowns and a side of kids bacon. Hint: at waffle house, the kids order is exactly the same as an adult order.......order off the kids menu, it's cheaper. Crashed at the resort.....tomorrow it MK day!!!!! Master bedroom had a giant jacuzzi tub....the kids loved this, almost like their own private pool.

Monday - we have PS for Crystal Palace at 8:05 - mom, dad, and brother decided to skip and meet us there when the park opens so we left early. Get to MK parking lot and DH is just following the traffic along and up ahead is the sign that says parking with an arrow pointing right and exit with an arrow pointing left. As most of the traffic coming in at this point is employees, where do you think my DH went? Right, he followed the employees right into the employee parking area, oh what to do what to do. I'm mad cause now we are going to be late.......he's mad because he hates to make mistakes and me tell him about them. So what does he do, he goes out the same way we came in, never mind it is a one way road and there is traffic (employees in parking lot attendent uniform) coming towards us. So if you were an employee who passed some goofy tourist lost in the parking lot on Monday.......Hello!!!!! We get on the monorail, don't know how we missed the express one, but we got on the one that makes all the resort stops. Needless to say, we were late for our PS. Still had a good time though. DD loved the characters last year, what this, now she is screaming every time they start toward our table. This might be a bad week for DD. DS is so excited. He eats a waffle and that's it. To much going on with the characters. DD is to busy screaming and keeping her eyes peeled for approaching characters to eat anything, glad we didn't have to pay for her. Food was good and I absolutely loved the breakfast lasagna.....if anyone has that recipe, I would love to have it. Was kind of crowded would have liked to have gotten their at 8:05 and not felt so rushed but oh well, can enjoy or be mad, guess I'll enjoy. Kept trying to reach others on two way, no response. The park it now open and we haven't heard from them. Decide to walk back down Main Street and see if we spot them. Get in line with DS while we wait to meet characters......got to see Aladdin, Wendy, & Cruela. DS told Cruela that he saw a dalmation for her in DTD, she asked him why he went to see everyone else before he came to see her......and asked me why I let him.....it was great. DH is walking DD around the Main ST. loop, and while looking for him spot the others coming in. Turns out they realized they left the two way in the car after they boarded the monorail. Oh well, off to Advenureland where we grab a FP for Jungle Cruise, tour the treehouse, ride Aladdin, do the Tiki Bird show, go on our Jungle Cruise FP. Our Jungle Cruise guide was great!!!!! She was so funny.....one of the highlights of our trip, she enjoyed doing her job. DS sat right up next to her and they had a great time. Mom & dad really enjoyed this ride. Once off the cruise we went right on POC.....this was great fun as well, the little hill surprised mom & dad. Everyone had their pictures made with Chip & Dale while in Adventureland.

On to Frontierland.....we grab a FP for Splash Mtn, then go to watch the Country Bear show. Dad liked this show lots!!!!! After bears we had lunch at Pecos Bills DH and brother rode SM on their FP while we waited in line for food. We all ate then DS and me went to ride SM....he almost backed out but liked it once it was over. Got FP for BTMRR but we never got around to using them. Walked down toward Liberty Square. DD had fallen asleep in stroller, everyone decides to ride the Riverboat but didn't want to wake DD so I snag a bench (didn't know it but was right on corner of parade route). Ropes for parade go up while they are waiting so when they come off we just hang out and wait for the parade. Had a great spot to video from. DS stood on the curb and watched, dd slept through the whole thing until at the end people leaving decided to climb over the end of the stroller rather than go around and woke her up. Mind you, the stroller was pulled up right next to my dad on the bench. It was facing the fencing.....so that the sun wasn't hitting her in the face, her legs are protruding out facing only the fence not the crowd, still can't figure out for the life of my why people decided to step between the bench and stroller then climb over her legs, rather than go around the other end which would have been much easier.

Next we go on Haunted Mansion, got stopped right at the end where it says blah, blah, blah, don't forget to make final arrangements, it was nice and cool here but ds was getting upset. Go on to Fantasyland and get a FP for Peter Pan, everything else is to lined up, do teacups, get Tweedledee & Tweedledums autograph and move on to Tomorrowland. DH, DS, and brother ride the cars and Buzz.

Then we head over to Toontown and tour Minnie & Mickey's houses, let the kids play a minute in the play area and on Donald's boat. Buy a few items at County Bounty.....lines are really long for characters so we skip them and head back to Fantasyland. Philarmagic is starting and there is no waiting so we do this. Everyone loved this show....kids kept trying to grab the jewels and trying to help Donald. Will have to do this again on Friday. We then head over for our FP on Peter Pan. DH, DS, and brother go back to do Buzz again while we try to find a spot for parade watching. Before we left they were showing that Spectro would show twice Monday & Friday night and we had planned on viewing it that last time but noticed upon arrival they had changed to only an 8:00 showing on Monday. Streets were packed, couldn't find anyplace to watch, walked all the way back down to the Hub and watched but didn't see very much. Worried that wouldn't find the guys as we told them we would be on the curb across from Casey's. They ended up in the same area we were. After the parade we walked back up Main Street and found a place to watch the fireworks. Wishes was awesome, last year we only saw them from the back of the castle. Watching them with the castle view was great! We also saw Tinkerbell fly!!!! This was fantastic....got it on video and camera. Everyone agreed that it was the best fireworks show they had ever seen. After fireworks we decided to call it a day and made our way out with the crowd to the monorail.

Ran through McDonalds for a bite for the kids and back to the resort.

Next up is Epcot!

We saw lots of characters on our trip.......would link my photopass pictures here but not sure how to do it.

It sounds like a great day. I would have been going nuts if we got lost on the way there. I had to laugh trying to picture you driving into the employee parking lot. That sounds like something that would happen to me and my DH. I also would have not wanted to wait around for other people to get there to start the day. You must be a very patient person. I'm glad you had fun on your first day.
