The "perfect" shoe?

I had terrible plantar fasciitis - it was hard for me to put my foot down and walk, especially on first getting up in the morning. I went to a podiatrist and he had me get custom-made orthotics to the tune of $500  They just bothered me more. Then I began to stretch my legs and feet every day AND tried out crocs....I have absolutely no more pain in my heels, ever. I do find crocs to be the MOST comfortable things I can put on my feet (even tho they aren't the most attactive shoes). I do Disney every year and I wear nothing but crocs (sandals and clogs) and never, ever, have one bit of a problem anymore. Besides my heels/feet - my legs don't even get tired from all the walking. Every person is different, but for me, my crocs saved my feet!!

I wear New balance, K swiss, Nike Shox, and Keens for walking

For my kids Tsukihoshi when they are little and Keens and NEw balance when they are older.

Honestly I'm nervous about trying the Tevas. Normally flip flops just aren't supportive enough to not make me be in alot of pain at the end of the day. Right now I have Asics running shoes but they aren't the most comfortable. I have back issues so I'm hoping I can find something that I can stay on my feet all day while in the parks and still be able to walk the next 2 days..:rotfl2:

I found the Tevas Olowahu for $24 on Amazon.com so what the heck..I'm gonna give them a try before I go. If they don't work I'll try to find a lightweight fully padded sneaker. I LOVED my sketchers sneaker mules, so I may get another pair of them. But again..not that much support.

Just one more thing to worry about, right?

For me, the Tevas are super comfortable, but I will only wear them for a few hours at a time, because eventually my heels start to hurt from constantly "picking up" my foot with no heel/ankle support (does that make sense?).

So - I wear my broken-in running shoes. I run in them every day so I know they are comfy and give good support!

I have a way-too-old pair of Teva Spoilers that I can't give up. Love them. I also have a pair of Terra-Fi which are almost as good. They do provide some heel support. I prefer sandals because my feet get hot. Try Zappos. You can buy a couple pair and return what you don't like. I like the Mush, but not for the parks.

I was just diagnosed with mild plantar fasciitis which my podiatrist thinks was brought on by wearing flip flops too often.

He said no crocs, no flip flops, no Tevas.

I normally wear Teva Hurricanes, Teva mush flip flops and my New Balance Tennis shoes.

Now I'm left with just my tennis shoes which I hate to wear during the day at Disney. My feet get too darn hot and I get grumpy. Oh the joy.

Go to a running store and ask for some good wicking socks. Your feet might feel too hot because of the socks you are wearing. I can only wear my running shoes (with good socks) for a day at Disney. I've got feet and knee issues that get so bad with flip flops or sandals!

I'm a big fan of the Land's End mary jane water shoes. They're cushy and comfortable to walk around in, and they *really* breathe! Which is an added bonus on things like Splash Mountain... In the evenings, I usually switch over to something like a Clark's slide sandal if we're going somewhere nicer for dinner.

I agree with the PP who said it's all down to your feet and your comfort level, though, so take this all with the required grain of salt! :)

What about something like the Tevas Tera Fi sandals..I have severe PF and my podiatrist and Orthopedist both said they were fine as long as I had good heel cushion and arch support

My neighbor said these work great for her and she has PF so I think I'm going to give them a try.

I just picked up some moisture wicking socks from a running shoe store today so I'm hoping those will help too.

I love shoes so this will give me an excuse to get a few new pair. DH can't complain when they are medically necessary. ;)

If you're going to Disney World, then definitely don't wear flip flops because you have to cover your Plu-toes!!! You can wear Tennis shoes and good cotton socks also. Sports shoes go best for such places. They are comfortable , cozy and also look good.

My new favorite shoe is a z-coil! I wore them to Dollywood for 3 days and loved them! I wear them to work everyday and will be wearing them next month when we do to WDW!

I read on here about Earth Spirit sandals that are only sold at Wal-mart. I just got back from a 5 day trip and fell in love with them. They were 18.00 and I wore them every day all day. I had one blister that didn't even hurt. They are comfortable and styling. I'm going to get another pair just for the summer months. Best 18.00 spent for the trip.

I cannot wear the same shoes 2 days in a row at WDW. I alternate between Birks and my running shoes. I will throw my Crocs in there on occasion.

Chaco flip flops and sandals. They are a little pricey, but have excellent arch support. I normally wear custom orthotics and these are one of the only brands that give me enough arch support to go without my orthotics. If the weather is cooler, I will wear running shoes with my orthotics, but in the heat that is not the most comfortable option.

Have you tried something like this?? I am considering trying them although I doubt they will give me the same support as my regular tennis shoes. I have the motion control ones, and I don't think these styles come in that.
I figure maybe they'll be a little cooler. I wasn't a tennis shoe person until I decided to try one more time with the New Balance. I always found them to be really hot. One tip that I have found was to wear bamboo socks. I found some golden toe bamboo socks at Dillards and they make a big difference with my feet not getting as hot.
I highly recommend their dress shoes too. Aravon is made by New Balance. I have the Mia and they are far better than any other dress shoes I have found. They have the same soles as the tennis shoes from what I understand. My feet hurt after a few hours, but that is way better than my feet hurting after 10 minutes. I see they make sandals too, so those are next on my list. Hoping they'd be okay too. They come in the EE that I need to. Sorry for the long rave. It is just exciting to have found shoes that have improved my quality of life.. hehe

What shoe is that second one?

Just say no to cotton socks. They hold moisture. You need something wicking if you wear socks. Socks and tennis are no fun on wet rides, walking through misters or getting caught in the rain. We love crocs, teva mush flops and keen newports. The Keens are pricey but oh so nice.
