Hi guys...
Just wanted to let you all know that I REALLY appreciate all the positive responses thus far. I was just hoping a few would take notice and enjoy, and it seems I have a small following already.
Anyway, I just thought I would drop you an update: I've spent most of my day (when I haven't been doing actual WORK at work)
putting my pics up on webshots so my future posts can all be brought to you in futuristic full color! I'll get to work on the next installment after work, so be sure to stay tuned!!

Part III--Touchdown: Or, How long is too long to be awake for your first day at Disney World?
So, we had finally made it to the airport. I wont bore you with the intricacies of the two hours between check-in and boarding, somewhat because they are tedious and mostly involve standing in lines, but mostly because I had not yet had my typical 24 oz serving of morning coffee, and my memory of that time is more than hazy. Luckily, there was a drinks counter right next to our gate where DGF and I relished in the first sips of our morning brew.
We boarded the plane with little to no difficulty, because, like us, most of the passengers at this hour of the morning were more akin to cattle than anything else. We just mooooooved along wherever the butt in front was headed. As DGF settled in for a happy pill nap, I double checked the engagement rings hiding place for at least the tenth time since I stowed it in one of the pockets of my camera bag. We each had our own cameras for the trip, so I figured this was the best bag in which to hide the ring, seeing as I was the only one that would have to rifle through it, and having my camera in there was a fine excuse for keeping it strapped to me at all times.
At this point, its probably a good time to explain my plans for popping the question. During the planning period, I spent hours trying to decide how best to go about a Disney Proposal. I got a whole bunch of great suggestions from the DISboards, but I still hadnt figured out which I wanted to go with. One person suggested I do it after dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table by getting our server to slip it into a glass slipper dessert. Unfortunately, by that point, I couldnt get any ADRs for CRT. My only hope was to check again the morning of our arrival and hope that someone had cancelled and we could slip in. Another suggestion was doing it during the Wishes fireworks display, so this would be my backup plan. The problem here was, as some of you may remember from Part II, I had been specifically warned against proposing in front of a large audience. So, I would have to find somewhere secluded so we could be alone, but still be able to see the fireworks. As most of you know, this is not an easy proposition in the MagicKingdom in mid-July. So, as you may have guessed, I was a bit nervous about the whole thing.
When we eventually arrived at OCM, DGF was refreshed from a lovely nap, and I had a lovely crick in my neck from the oh-so commodious airline seats. (Im 6-1, and these particular airline seats seemed to be designed specifically for people 5-2 and shorter. Or, amputees with no legs.) So, we made our way to the Magical Express counter, all the way being waved along by cast members wearing oversized Mickey gloves and sporting suspiciously oversized grinsthese seemed to be the only people on the face of the planet who were actually happy to be stuck in an airport all day. I immediately suspected a little Irishing of the morning coffee, but their manner was contagious, and eventually the neck crick wore off, and DGF and I were smiling along with them.
The check-in process at the Magical Express was extremely fast and friendly, and within an unbelievable 15 minutes, we were sitting in a very comfortably air conditioned coach bus waiting for the last few folks to fill in the available seats before we made our way to the hotels. Looking back at the pictures, I cannot believe this is what people should look like after waking up at 4AM and fighting their way through two airports within 4 hours. I guess thats what puts the Magical with the Express.
After an unbearably long bus ride (yes, 20 minutes IS unbearably long when you are this close to Disney) we arrived at our hotel, the lovely (looking) All Star Music. Check-in at the hotel went along without so much as a hiccup, and after a half-hour, we had our Tickets to the World and were ready to get started. We were obviously too early to get a room, but we had planned ahead for that, and packed a change of touring clothing in our carry on. After a quick change in the hotel restrooms, we encountered the first bump in our so-far smooth travels. The Disney Transport system.
Now, I know most of you love the transport system, and I agree; I would rather wait 10 or 15 minutes for a free bus here and there than have to pay for a rental car and parking. But when you are knowingly headed to a park where you will be spending a lot of time waiting in line, the last thing you want to do is wait in line to go and wait in line. I dont think there is a better way to get around the parks, but Im just making the point. The other thing about waiting in line after just flying down from up north is; you immediately start to hear this sizzling sound. You look around to see if maybe someone has brought some bacon with them, and they accidentally dropped it on the sun-baked sidewalk. Then you realize--its you! Yes, you, my pale friend have no covering over you at the bus stop, and can feel the Florida sun boring itself into every pore of your uncovered skin. Luckily, DGF is a lifeguard, and therefore a sunscreen aficionado, and has brought enough to slather the entire bus with a ½ thick skin of sun protectant.
Eventually, we made our way over to the MagicKingdomthe location of the standard Disney Proposal. Here, we hit gripe #2 of the tripthe Biometrics machines to get into the park. I have absolutely no problem with the admission procedure. Card goes here, fingers go here, green light, and we go (making sure to turn hips to one side as we go through the turnstile that someone has comically placed at groin-squishing height). However, DGF somehow has completed her higher education without passing the Disney Parks Admissions Procedure Exam. She puts in the card, nope, wrong way. Okay, card goes in this way, and turnstilenope, not yet, no green light. Okay, card in, fingers in here, no green light. Biometrics, you are costing us precious seconds!! Finally, the cast member presses some magic button they have for just such an occasion, and my DGF gets through the overly complicated Chinese Finger Trap ala Disney.
Were HEEEEEERRRREEEEE!!
