The Perfect Gift Question?????

Hi Shirley

I was going to email this question to you but I figured that there maybe other DIS'ers that may wonder about the same question but were afraid to ask.

We have some friends that are taking their 1st Disney Cruise because of us. ( I wonder if Disney pays commissions for referals? ) We would like to send a gift to them but I don't want to ask them for their cabin number. I don't want to wonder why I was asking. Are you able to make a delivery based on their full name?

Ask them the category they are in...What floor...are they aft or forward...if they are on the side of the ship that stands in the sun for the lifeboat drill. Are they close to the laundry or the secret decks. Do it from a helpful they should know everything about their lcoation before they board the ship. Before you know it - they will have spilled the beans on their room number.

Yes, a delivery can be made based on name alone (be sure it is spelled correctly and you have the correct sailing date.) You could always ask about their cabin number "because you want to be sure they have a good location" or some such silly thing.

There are now 4 manifest that are processed in order to assure that the gift baskets are not lost or delivered to the wrong rooms again - we first make sure that the names and room numbers given to us are as on the manifest - then it is faxed over to Disney's DCL which is then checked and then faxed backed to us with any corrections whether it be names or room numbers - we correct the information on our manifest - when we arrive at housekeeping, the manifest is checked again - at this time all corrections have been made and the baskets are set aside to be delivered to the correct gift receiptant and correct room numbers even if there has been a last minute upgrade -
I have found that this process has been very effective and there hasn't been any more problems.
