OK, at least for me...this will be perfect. I used a fanny pack last year and hated it. I hated how it looked in all my pics, and it just didn't hold enough. My friend had a small (mini) backpack with her, that at the time I thought she would hate having to wear on her back the whole time. I was wrong. She did great, and I suffered. So I went on a mission to find a great bag, and here's what I came up with:

jansportdaypack.jpg

It is very lightweight. It has a water resistant feel to it, but not hard, or rough like a normal backpack. It has a few little inside hidden pockets for your creditcards, and money. And an easy opening to get in and out of. I just got it today, and I can't wait to use it.

I found it on ebags, and it's a Jansport daypack

It looks like it will do the trick. I will look into one for myself.
I found a great camera/wallet combo at Target in the luggage/travel dpt. It is black.
It has a credit card section, clear pocket for tickets and such, pockets for disney dollars and a coin section. It can attach to your belt and has a shoulder strap with pad. It holds a small camera. It is compact in size. On clearnce for $10.48 It will be nice to take all the valuables "with" on rides.

I completely agree about the fanny pack. Our first trip was May 06 and everything I read said "get a fanny pack". So I was on a quest to find the perfect fanny pack, ended up getting one from Old Navy, which was great (as far as fanny packs go). But in all of my pics, I see that thing staring at me and taunting me.

A small backpack sounds good to me!!

Cute Backpack! I ended up purchasing a large nylon tote/purse. Lots of inside pockets. I am always afraid someone will pick pocket my backpack in line so I always get a tote I can hang on to.

My perfect bag is called "Ameribag" also found on ebags. I bought it for a trip about 6 years ago and have been using one ever since, in fact it is so convenient with all the handy inside pockets that it is the one I use as my daily purse at home too. My first one was a size med. but have since gone with the ex.small and it is the perfect size for me. I did look for a backpack for my last trip but was also concerned with someone trying to get in the back and the Vera Bradley one that I was contemplating, just wasn't that easy for me to get on and off, oh well...I'm very happy with my Ameribag! :thumbsup2

Okay, I've worn a fanny pack my last three trips, and while I hate the pictures, I have to ask: where do you put your camera? With the fanny pack, it's really easy for me to just grab it for those quick shots. Don't think I'd take as many pics if I had to get my camera out of the backpack!

So, just curious, but if you use a backpack, do you wear your camera around your neck?

I agree that a good fanny pack with a place for a digital camera is much more effecient and easier to use than a back pack - all that taking on and off drove me nuts! As far as the way it looks? More than 50% of the people wear them - it's Disney World, it's expected!;)

Yep, I only wear fanny pacs and crocs at Disney!

We were silly on our last trip to Disney (2003) . . . didn't think about a bag until AFTER we got there. We ended up getting a small backpack and it was the perfect size! We put our rain ponchos in there, our water, the sun block, etc. Of course, my DH ended up carrying it most of the time, so I wasn't inconvenienced at all about having to carry it. ;) We're heading back to Disney this September, and I've already got the little blue backpack out for the trip. :woohoo: Of course, this time we'll be bringing the point and shoot digital camera, but I'll probably end up keeping that in it's own little case that will most likely be hanging around my neck. It's small enough that I can just carry it on the rides so I won't have to worry about someone getting a new digital camera at my expense, if you know what I mean!

I have to admit...I hate the fanny pack in the pictures too, but one year I tried the back pack and it was a PAIN. I had to take it off to get anything in and out....camera, cards for fastpass, money.....the fanny pack was much more convenient so I went back to it the following year.

I just clipped it off quickly for some pictures and then clipped it back on.

Also, I never forgot my fanny pack on a ride, but I had forgotten my backpack which was on the floor on my peter pan vehicle.

Just some thoughts.

I've used something very much like the pack the OP got when I've gone to amusement parks in the past. I'm a big fan of the mini backpack.

When it was picture time, I would swing the fanny pack around so the pack part was on my back. Then it just kind of looks like a belt. But with the pin lanyards, the sunglasses straps and the hat, I am a mess in pictures anyway!:rotfl2:

We have 3 small boys so we can't get away with just taking a fanny pack. We always take a backpack. We throw ours in the basket of the stroller when we're just walking around. Then grab it when getting in line for a ride. My husband has a bunch of cargo shorts with large pockets that either velcro or zip. We put our digital camera in one pocket and on the other side he has our tickets, money and things like that. Works out well for us.

Just looked it up on ebags - that is super cute and has a nice price too!!

Awesome idea!!! I'm gonna stick with my fanny pack and do this!:thumbsup2

i picked up a sling pack by adidas at finish line today! i remember when those were all the rave in high school, but they're actually really practical! the material is thin and nylon and its very easy to carry it around and leave it on the rides!

I've always believed that the pack is supposed to rest on the "fanny", in order to support the weight. I love ours, it carries a water bottle on each side, and has ample room for snacks, camera, and essentials.

I just swing it around to the front when I'm on rides.

I have fibromyalgia and wearing anything on my shoulders causes me deep enduring pain for days.

The fanny pack may be less than flattering, but Id rather have fun and be pain-free than look good!

I have a sling backpack that I love. The shoulder strap isn't padded, but it didn't seem to bother me. I like it b/c I can sling it to the front (looks stupid, but who cares!) while in lines and I can switch it to just one shoulder like a purse if my back needs a break. I did, however, have DD6 wear a fanny pack. I bought a plain black one and then added a Mickey iron on thingie for the front. She had no idea that she looked like a dork! Plus, the pack was cinched tight enough on her, that it left a little 'tail' hanging down in the back that I could grab hold of in big crowds!

As far as the camera goes....my DH bought a digital that is small enough for his pockets. It only went into the backpack on rougher rides.
