The people that give us collectors/Disney guests a bad name.....

Okay so, I was all geared up for our first day at the event. It seemed that Disney was very organized for the breakfast and that the lines for registration were moving relatively quickly. This was my very first Disney convention/event other than the AK event. I was sooooo excited to be there!

Anyway, we were waiting in line to register and had completed our RSP form and this woman behind us begins to complain about people who should have faxed in their RSP form, before registration. Keep in mind this was my first event, and although I knew I had the option of faxing my RSP form, I wanted to be sure that my selections were entered properly and I had no idea how they were going to do that. So as this lady is continuing to B**** about how any "idiot could have figured it out" I tried to explain my reasoning for not having faxed it in. She continued to banter, loud enough that everyone could hear her criticizing myself and others, including the people currently registering, that those who "couldn't follow simple directions should be in the idiots line." I was soooooo shocked by her outright meaness towards myself and the other participants -- and surprised at how a fellow trader would act that way -- I guess I am used to the people here on the board and on dizpins.

Anyway, just when I thought it was over SHE CALLED A MANAGER TO COMPLAIN! She told the manager that the lady working at the registration desk obviously was having problems, the manager told her that it did not look like there was a problem now and the she told him that it did not look like a problem four other times either. She told him that there should be a seperate line for those who could follow directions and that she and her husband shouldn't have to wait behind people who didn't know what they were doing. She finally got to the front of the line and then she told him not to move until she was finished and insisted that he stand by her. She continued to B**** at the woman at the counter saying that she must be stupid, she was taking too long, what is the problem....etc.

I was embarassed. Here I was excited to be there and here this person was making me feel bad because I did something the way I wanted to do it. My biggest concern however, is how these Cast Members were working so hard at getting us registered and getting it done quicly and this woman had to rant and rave about what SHE thought was wrong with the whole process. -- It just grated on my nerves every time I saw her all weekend.

I had a wonderful time at this event. I traded with many of the DISer's at the event and also really enjoyed all the aspects of the event including the auction -- which was unbelievable! I had great luck with the RSP process and was even able to purchase the LE500 framed set.

I know others had a great time too, but be patient with me, I had such a great time, I will probably be posting about it for weeks!

Brer - The woman sounds like nothing would have made her happy. Many of my friends did not fax their forms in. I personally didn't care one way or the other. It wasn't mandatory and I thought the registration lines went very quickly.

I would love if you could email me what she looks like. I'll know who to avoid in the future.

Actually one of the things I found most amazing was the number of people who complained no end about everything. It was funny because I was reading some comments on this board about things that I did not do that people seemed to really like, but to listen to the people I heard the same things were horrible!

I think that there were a large number of "sharks" in one place which sometimes gave off bad karma! I have a few "wanted" pins and the few times any of the sharks saw them they tried to trade me a rack pin first just to see if I was stupid. Once they tried the stunt, I just walked away and did not give them a second chance!

My only piece of advice is to remember that pins should be a hobby not a retirement plan. (Remember the beanie babies!)

I remember on Thursday morning seeing one of the WoD regulars telling someone that this event would kill off pin collecting because it was handled so poorly. Well, if it killed it off for him, that would be fine with me, but I know for most of us the event just reinforced our addiction.

Disney did have to go through a learning curve, but they figured out their mistakes very quickly and fixed them. Kudos to the whole Disney event staff!!!

figment2 -

The only thing I will tell you about her is that she was older, and was a figment lover too. Do you know her?

No clue. It grieves me to think that a Figment lover could be so uncouth.
