This thread has been the best way to beat post-Disney blues! Just got back midnight Saturday night and survived several trips on the PeopleMover without losing any body parts!
Everyone should do what I did after our boat went down a waterfall backwards on the Maelstrom. Complain and they'll remove that unsafe ride! You're welcome, Fellow Adventurers.
I was sitting on this log, minding my own zippity doo dah business, having a little fun time, when all of a sudden I was plummeted down a hill. My head almost got cut off by branches, and then I got wet. WITH ACTUAL WATER.
I don't know about alligators, but there are some really dangerous looking plants on that ride. And what if that boat flew off the water and into the fish tank!AT FEEDING TIME!
Was this yesterday (Friday)? It was down for refurb this week, I thought Monday to Friday. I tried to ride it Sunday and it was closed mid-day, never got to ride it.
Update - wdwinfo shows refurb Dec 7 to 10, so Monday to Thursday.
Yes, Friday night I rode, during the Christmas party.... And it was a mechanical issue, a maintenance person was on the scene when I finally got off the ride...

I can't believe how unsafe that ride is. I don't know why it took them 22 years to install lap bars on the MK ride, and they STILL haven't put them in on any of the SM rides at any of the other parks! They literally shove you off the top of a mountain into a tiny, shallow pool surrounded by huge vines with 2 foot long thorns! It's a disaster waiting to happen, I tell you. Somebody's going to end up impaled or horribly mutilated. What were they thinking???
One time i got restrained in a rocket and got flight trained by Gary Sinese of all people, he was only an astronaut in a MOVIE, then we traveled to Mars when we nearly fell off a cliff! Why does Disney think an actor can properly train 4 people to fly a rocket to Mars?
I have been on all kinds of rides that felt safe, because they had restraints.... normally the people mover does not jerk you around.... and if someone stops fast in a car, you have seatbelts..... Each time the ride stopped they turned on the lights, so I thought they would be walking us off the ride....
Many rides don't have seatbelts. If the lack of them worries you, stay off of those rides. Btw, there are no "brakes" on the TTA, ie the peoplemover. Magnets.

That reminds me. When my son was small about 6 or so we went on Soaring and I put a golf ball in my hand without him knowing. When the ball came at us I reached out and pretended to catch it. You should've seen his eyes when i had a golf ball in my hand.
