The path from OKW to DTD

Yes, the walkway is paved the entire distance. A portion (closest to OKW) does not have lighting- so I would not suggest using it after dark- some of the pavement is a little uneven, but all is navigable.

Once you get to the practice green at the golf course- just continue past and follow the sidewalk around the West Side parking area towards Cirque. It's just over a mile from Building 55 at OKW.

Enjoy!

Doc,
My kids and I rented bikes at OKW 2 weeks ago for the first time. We went behind building 55 and had to go left or right. We went left. At times it was a nice blacktop wide trail. At other points it was skinny old cement. The canal was on the left and the golf course was on the right. I kept questioning the whole time if we were on the right trail. I knew bikes weren't allowed on the area that golf carts travel. We got to a point where we could see Planet Hollywood but didn't really know how to get there. It didn't matter because we needed to head back. Anyway, does it sound like we were on the trail that bikes were allowed? I never saw any other people the whole time we were out there. Thanks.

Lisa

Yes, you were on the right walkway. There is a brief portion that is shared with the golfers, but most is used by walkers, joggers and bikes.

The widest portion is from the golf green to the Treehouse Villas bridge (the gate is now boarded shut) and the remainder- between OKW and the Treehouse bridge- is the narrow asphalt (uneven at times).

The walkway follows the canal all the way to the practice green, where you'll find the sidewalk around the DD parking lot towards Cirque and HoB.

Lisa, you were on the correct trail. All you do is always keep the canal (both the spur you first saw, then later the main canal) on your left. The pathway finally comes out up by House of Blues and Cirque du Solei. Outside of the 'bridge' you first crossed by bldg 55, do not cross any other bridges

Eventually when SSR opens, you will be able to cross the bridge that went to the old DI, go through SSR, and come out close to the other side of DD, over by the Rainforest Cafe end.

It remains to be seen whether they will allow the golf bridge to be used routinely for pedestrian traffic. There is signage on it right now prohibiting joggers from using that bridge - it is somewhat narrow and many of the golf carts don't exercise a lot of caution when crossing. There had been reports that a new pedestrian bridge from SSR to DD would be built, but no plans have been made to move forward with that.

Walkers/joggers/bikes would likely be the only ones affected, as SSR guests have a better access to DD and OKW guests will be able to access SSR by using the boat between OKW/SSR/DD.

Stay Tuned!
