Went today at rope drop and just left. It's the first time we have been in a few weeks. I must say the new parade and fireworks were incredible and I usually don't care for stuff like that. The crowds were not to bad this morning and we rode a ton of rides before noon. Got really crowded in the evening for the parade but that's normal for Friday night. Overall a fantastic 70s and sunny day at disneyland.

Hoping for a ghost town when we are there in October. Somehow I don't think it will be... But SO excited about the new stuff, plus kids will be a year older hopefully that means a year better behaved and a year later to bed at night!

Don't count on a ghost town if your trip is within the first 3 weeks of October.

Do you think a Tues, Wed, Thurs between Gay Days and Columbus Day weekend will be pretty manageable? I'm not trying for "ghost town" (not that I would complain if I got it, lol), but just not crazy-packed.

Back today for rope drop at DCA. Another great day so far with cool weather.

It will be busy, but manageable...especially if you are there for rope drop.

Where did you watch the parade and fireworks from? What time did you get to these events? Would you do it differently now that you have experience?

Inquiring minds want to know! :)

We watched both the parade 850 and fireworks 930 from the outdoor seating at the Plaza Inn. We got there and grabbed a good table and some fried chicken around 8pm. It was tough to get that table. People had laid claim to those tables long before we got there. It was certainly not ideal viewing for the parade but it was great for the fireworks. We were pretty tired at that point so standing up along main street and getting bumped into people for hours was not something we were interested in doing. People sit down on the curb long before the parade but they get stepped on constantly it seems.
