"The Park After Dark"?? possible replacement for e-ride nights and Early Magic Hour

The only reason I'm staying onsite is because I want EMH. If Disney did away with EMH before my trip, I'd get my money back and stay offsite. We're not night people and wouldn't have done E-ride night.

So you are willing to pay a premium price to get into the parks for an extra hour?

Yes, I am, if that hour is in the morning is in the morning and is only open to resort guests.

Hi,

I doubd this will happen. Why:
1. An hour earlyer is cheaper for Disney then three hours extra park time in the evening.
2. Everyday in every park they need to provide wirstbands to the resort guests, because all other folks are in the parks at that time.
3. They are doing away the E-nights where they can earn some money.
4. Little people will go shopping in Downtown Disney or go to Pleasure Island. If people can do the parks, why do other things. Now people have no option some times to be busy in the evening, so they go to Downtown Disney and go to pleasure island.

Just my thoughts,

Gr. Marcel.

I don't know how this would work at parks other than MK. I mean, AK doesn't have enough lighting to stay open late, so that park would be out. Gee, the safari ride would be real fun - you couldn't see anything! MGM would have tremendous lines at ToT and RnRC. Imagine everyone coming from the other parks to ride those rides - the lines would be longer than during the day! Epcot would be okay but would they still close Future World early? Would they still have all the countries open? Would it ONLY be future world? Hmm, all those people and only TT, M:S and S:E? I see long lines here as well. Would they limit the entry into MK like they do for e-ride nights? Would they keep all the rides open or like the EMH only open a select few? For 3 hours, it would be worth hopping from a full day at another park. So now we have triple the number of people from a normal e-ride and the same amount of rides open? At first I thought this was a great idea, but I don't know if this could logistically work. Plus, you would have to deal with the emptying of the park AND the filling of the parks at the same time. Seems like a lot of work to me...

"I think this would be a great idea. Just think about the numbers for a second. The later the park is open, the less people. Parents with young or tired children, People who are not night owls, etc. This means that there are 3 more hours for people to buy food, to visit shops, etc."

But the thing is, all of the folks discussed above wouldn't have a perk at all if EMH went away! So I think the idea of a combo would only be fair, don't cha think?

Anyway - What the heck are we worrying for? Let's wait to see if they do this - then we can freak out!?!?!?!

I like EMH because of the diminished crowds. I don't think that would happen if the park stayed open an extra 3 hours at night therefore the perk would be gone for me.

I'd rather E-ride nights.

Would the extra hours work of a park the size of Epcot? I'm sure world showcase would be closed.

They got so much grief from guests when they got rid of EE that they brought it back. Would they really try to go that route again?
Since EE has been brought back we have done it at the MK once in August and twice over Christmas week. All 3 times we were able to walk on every ride we wanted to, with the exception of having to wait for the Speedway. We have found it to be just as useful, although shorter, as it was before.

I was a part of that screaming frenzy when EE went away and was lucky enough to have it reinstated before we made our next trip.

I don't know what I would do at 10am if I wasn't standing at the top of Main Street trying to guess how many human sardines were packed into that tiny space waiting for the rope to come down. I actually video taped the release one year, it looks a lot like the start of the Boston Marathon... :p

I would be sorely disappointed if we lost EE again. I actually like doing both EE and E-Ride, I don't mind paying $12 for an extra 3 hours, figure $4 per hour ($12 / 3 hours) with 1/10th the crowd versus $5 per hour ($50 / 10 hours) and up for the heat and 40,000 of your closest friends...

Mon. AK
Tues. MGM
Wed. Epcot
Thurs. MK
Fri. AK
Sat. MGM
:)

I thought that was probably the right one, but I had also come across another one that didn't include AK.

I think this would be great. My family is typically
nite owls. Also more attractions/shows may be
open as opposed to EE.

I like this idea! I think going to MK at night is fun :) I've never been able to get up early enough to take advantage of EE! I'm not a morning person so this would work out well for me.

It seems like I saw this posted yesterday on another board and it was shrugged off as a joke. Logistically, it would be a nightmare, cost more and decrease revenue from DTD, etc. I really don't think this is serious. If it is, it must be Eisner's idea.

It does seem a bit suspicious as an April Fool, but I'll comment on it in case it isn't.

Love MK at night when we have done MVMCP. I agree that this wouldn't work well for AK, but might work for MGM. I think it would be very hard to manage with Epcot just because of the sheer size of the park.

We personally love EMH. Are we total night owls? No.

The fact of the matter is you are going to find an equal number of people on both sides.

One perk I would love is a "Super FP" Each hotel guests gets one a day allowing ONE ride a day to do at your convienence.

I would have given anything for a Winnie the Pooh FP a couple of years ago.

It seems like alot of parents would be upset about loosing that EMH, especially at MK. A good compromise would be to do something like this:

Sunday MK-EMH

Monday AK-EMH (PAD wouldn't really work there)

Tuesday MGM-PAD

Wednesday EPCOT-(PAD if it would work, would be great if WS stayed open too)

Thursday MK-PAD

Friday MGM- PAD

Saturday EPCOT-EMH

You get my idea, sort of a combination of both. Does anyone know if Disney plans on charging for PAD like they did e-ride nights. I can see this senario happenening much more likely if they're charging resort guests the extra $$$. JMO

Oh brother....just when I think I've got it all figured out they go and change it. I love EMH at the MK with my 5 year old. We do Fantasyland before it gets too crowded. Then the E Ticket Night has the rides my 21 year old loves, again without the crowds. This is the only way to do MK. Staying open an extra three hours will accomplish nothing because it will be too crowded. Just look at the number of people who never do EMH who responded to this thread that they would love this new plan.
